Hi Friends 😍Anyone that has questions about this paper you can email Hahnemuhle directly here: carol.boss @ hahnemuehle. com Carol can help you figure out how to find this paper. Also for anyone in the US, this is the store that currently sells it www.wetpaintart.com/by-brand.html?cat=468&p=3 This paper is so new, that's why it's hard to find it. The series is called COLLECTION and the cover is black/orange. Thank you so much for watching!🥰
This is fabulous. It's going to be very helpful for many people. Thanks for all you do and for caring so much and helping so many people! You're beautiful and amazing! Huge hugz, Tree💝
Thank you for sharing this review for the alternative watercolor paper. I am pleased to know that this is plant-based sizing. Being new at watercolor and searching for vegan products, this is a plus for the journey in a new medium. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents with us.
What a great review of Hahnemuhle paper! It's good to know that you have complete control during wet and wet application. The fact that you enjoy layering to create luminosity is one of the many reasons that I watch you, so I know how important it is that the paper holds onto the previous layers - that's good to know - and that masking fluid works great on it and that it's easy to erase any pencil lines. Your paintings are gorgeous and the way you paint life into your subjects amazes me, especially into those eyes. By the way, that mushroom painting is absolutely awesome!!! WOW, I love that!!! I secretly hope you show the painting video of the mushroom painting. Actually of all the paintings. They are all so fantastic, from the fruit to the zebras! I do hear many people say that this paper is their favorite and now I completely understand why. Thank you for posting this video.
Hi Cassie😍Thank you so much! And yes, for sure. Mushroom one was so much fun to paint. It's like combining all of the techniques into one painting. I am going to post a comment with contact info to Hahnemuhle on top of all the comments for anyone that has any questions. This paper is super new and it's hard to find it at the moment ☺️🌸
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us,,you are a wonderful artist 🎨 and I love your work,,it is very kind and gracious of you to share with us, 🥰🤗🙏🙂
Wow! Thank you, Maria! I am in Germany so Hahnemühle has always been my first choice. But I am still learning watercolours and appreciate your review. The last paper they came out with that I had heard of is the Expression line and I quite like that but it is totally different to Arches, much softer. I will look for this new paper and try it for sure! Oh, by the way, you paintings are all stunningly beautiful! 😍🧡❤
🌸👩🏻🎨That's wonderful Chrissie and my pleasure. I have tried some of their papers but this is the one I am excited about, this is the one I can feel like myself when painting and it gives me new possibilities. I have been waiting for a paper like this for years🥰
I've been studying watercolor for just a year,, painting on cold pressed paper only. I'm willing to try hot-pressed, which seems to me it'd be a good choice since I tend to paint smaller sizes and detailed subjects, such as animals, insects and botanicals. It'd be even better if I could get vibrant colors and fair control of layering. I'm trying to figure out which Hot Pressed option is best (or better) between Cézanne and Collection (any other suggestion is welcome though). I also heard Cézanne is more similar to Arches than The Collection. It might depend you one's style, I guess. Both papers price range is pretty much the same where I live and I haven't found enough or convincing info specifically on hot-pressed for those purposes so far. Still on my search, so any information is way precious. Ps..: lovely, absolutely lovely paintings! In love with the puppy one, which reminds me of my dog. All the best!
Hi Lindsay, thank you so much for your comment 🤗🌹I suggest to go with Collection. Cezanne and Collection are similar but Collection is a big upgrade. I actually prefer now Collection than Arches. I taught myself on Arches and trust me Arches is an amazing paper but I felt in love with Collection because I can do more on it. Cezanne is nice but the colors don't see to look as clean on it, I also prefer layering on Collection and how much more control I have over paint/water when painting wet on wet. On Collection its's so much easier. I do know Collection HP and it's very nice to paint animals🌹
That's precious information, Maria. I've never tried Arches paper of any type, but undeniably it is a top favorite to many experienced artists. With that in mind, your preference for the Collection line instead is even more interesting. Sure this and the whole video are quite enlightening and I'm so looking forward to try it, too. Can't thank you enough for taking the time to answer me and sharing your knowledge with us all. 🙌 Oh, by the way, I tried painting that same mushroom on my own a while ago - that picture is just irresistible. 😍 I used Heritage CP and had some issues with the masking fluid and some bleeding, but I think it was more on my lack of practice than on the paper. 😆 Still, it was a fun and worth journey. I hope to get it right next time. 😃 All the best to you! ❤️
I have the worst luck with buckling paper... even with Arches. Thinking maybe i need to learn how to stretch my paper first. Also... really really live your paintings... absolutely beautiful!!!
thank you so much☺️🌹I honestly have never stretched a paper in my life and don't find it necessary especially if you paint on Arches or Collection by Hahnemuhle. My trick is to use a glass top table and place my watercolor paper directly on it, then use washi tape - it's for the white frame but washi sticks out at the corners and its glued to the table there☺️
@@mariamorjane thank you so very much for the reply Maria!! I will try putting my paper on glass and see if that makes it better for me... thanks for the tip!! Currently i just use green painters tape to tape my paper down... so perhaps getting some better tape would help also.
Oh, thank you very much for this video. I've been painting on Hahnemühle all this years (because, like Schmincke and Faber-Castell, they are widely available everywhere in Germany, being our 'local' companies, etc) and have now been thinking for a while about upgrading to Arches. Not that the other Hahnemühle papers are low quality, I tried most of the cotton and cotton mix one, including bamboo paper. I heard about Hahnemühle launching a new paper, but it's always a bit of a gamble with new art supplies. Especially as the 'Collection' paper is very similar in price as 'Arches' here (french art supplies are barely any more expensive in Germany, thanks to the EU open borders trading). I think I'll stay with Hahnemühle for now and try this one first.
Your so welcome Olga, it's my pleasure 😍 I am so excited about this paper because it's like an instant inspiration/motivation now when I create new things, so many possibilities.🌹☺️
Thank you for this review. I'm always looking for a vegan paper that can handle masking fluid. Fabriano Artistico can but I really don't like how quickly it dries and blooms and the new surface isn't that great for colored pencil when doing mixed media. I've been eyeballing this Collection paper for quite some time but sadly I can't get it from Finland and Brexit and Covid are making it pretty much impossible to order from the UK right now....
Hi Cris, thank you 😃and yes, Hahnemuhle the Collection because it's plant based, it doesn't have a smell to it (like Arches, they use animal gelatin for surface sizing), and you can add layers and lift colors too.
Your welcome Susan and you can email Hahnemuhle directly here: carol.boss @ hahnemuehle. com Carol can help you figure out how to find this paper. Also this is the store that currently sells it in US: www.wetpaintart.com/by-brand.html?cat=468&p=3 This paper is so new, that's why it's hard to find it🥰
Thank you! At least there is one store I could order it from. I'll send an email to the company as well. I've been experimenting with paper and the last one I tried felt more like rough than cold press.
Your work is stunning. I really enjoyed this review too, thank you for doing it :) I was wondering whether you have tried Hahnemuhle’s Expressions or Cezanne papers. If so, how does collection compare?
hi, thank you so much 😃 I have tried Cezanne, I believe Cezanne is going to phase out... Collection is the new replacement. Cezanne is good for layering but Collection is much better. Colors look much prettier and it's much easier to control paint when wet on wet. I haven't tried Expression.
@@mariamorjane I really appreciate you getting back to me. I’m so lost when it comes to picking a good paper, there’s so much to choose from 😅 I’ll give the collection a try, I’ve not heard a bad review about it yet. Wish me luck 😬
Hi Ann-Marie😍Painting on rough can definitely take some time to get used to. I love it! I hope you give it another chance🌹Please make sure it's the same series: Collection, the cover of the block is black/orange.
Hi Dena, they are similar - not the same. Each has different sizing. Collection is easier to lift, while with Arches is much easier to keep layers on, having said that you can layer on Collection without any issues - as you can see in my paintings. I just started painting on Collection about 6 weeks ago. I can't answer that question yet☺️
