His HR monitor definitely wasn't recording correctly 100% of the time. It was reading 120 bpm during some of his maximal efforts. However, his average HR was probably lower than the rest. He's a full on endurance athlete vs a mix of endurance / power.
No need to 2050, try search *Endless pool* I think it possible in 1 -2 years So we just need waterproof full body tracking, swimming simulation game, and special VR goggles to see in game screen. That's my ideas.

I think the coolest part of this was seeing how genuinely excited Lionel was afterwards. Obviously proud of a great race, and rightfully so! Way to go Lionel! Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦
Mate - you dominated, it was awesome to watch!!! Sitting in the lounge yelling at the phone in a eSport race, gotta say, it was a first for me... well done, Lionel!
Jake Bamforth these ppl thinking heart rate actually matters wow :D if hes max HR is about 170 and avg 136 its about the same as me having 170 avg as I have 210 HR.
That was incredible racing! Taking out MVDP and the Zwift elite...with a solo break??! And the post race interview was just pure joy to watch and listen to🙏 That honest joy and excitement and Lionels expression in the end of the interview is heartwarming and very inspiring.
This game looks amazing. This is the first time im hearing about zwift but this is revelutionary. Being able to compete with people around the globe liike this online and having an online community like this. Looks very fun. I'd like to play something like this but I see its quite expensive.
Same i did so much research the past 30 minutes and oh my it is expensive haha! i will definitely get one in the future but i do not own a bike or anything but i will make this a lifestyle someday!
Everything Is Photogenic I watched him do 600+ up the first hill for like 45 secs and I was like wow his heart rate must be going crazy. 133. Wtf. He’s an alien.
I met Lionel Sanders first time in Mont Tremblant for my 1st Half Marathon and all i can say he is a real great beautiful person , no chip on the shoulder , just honest and a real great human being. As a proud Canadian... I feel proud to have this person here in Canada. Awesome Lionel.....not just your in racing Wins but how you are just Genuine in your defeats. We need more people like this ,and Canada should should do more to promote people like this. Cheers. Ed.
Most manliest thing ever: pick the one spot in the race that's made for the cyclists to attack and then tear them all apart right there in front of their eyes! More than impressive!
My brain just can't get over the power you make per heart beat! I'm 64 and my average heart rate was 147 and my max heart rate on a ride this year is 174. I made an average of 145 watts for 2 hours. It is so inspiring to see you pump out the watts. I will never come close to your numbers, but I'm sure pumped to ride! Ride on Lionel!!!!!
Lionel!!! Way to thrash the cycling community!! I found myself yelling at you to keep the power increasing at the end. Thrilling for all that watched. Proud!
There were so many people in the comment section saying ‘who’s Lionel? He’s cheating’ 😂 they’re all going to be fanboys by the end of the week just watch!
Man Oh man!!! That was exciting to watch! I’m standing there in my kitchen watching this on my phone just bobbing up and down saying “come on Lionel.....come on man....”. My wife thinks what I was doing was the most boring thing ever. Oh well......she has no idea what she is missing. Fired up!!
I watched it yesterday. Matt Stevens made me chuckle. Talk about totally under estimating the wrong guy! Well done, that was a mighty impressive effort!
That was an incredible performance, Lionel! Your HR is impressive. You looked in so much pain, delivering such an effort, and your HR was in what's Z2 for me :P
Watched your race on the Zwift website and I am now a subscriber to your channel. Great to see a rider from this side of the pond doing well against the Europeans. Ride On!
Loved your ride champ... And 37:45 mins, the commentator's line "typical triathlete behavior" was great to hear...kicked ass of the cyclists!!! Super output !! You are amazing!
534 W for 5 minutes is INSANE! Great to see a break away stick in this races, even though I was rooting for the 2-place finisher Samuel Brännlund who is my bike dealer and local competitior in the MTB races!
I would have bet on it .. I immediately thought that there would be no history and you would have won .. I have been following you for a long time and you are a source of motivation I look at myself and watch your videos while I do indoor training with the bike .. No world champion of cycling could beat you on Zwift ... you are the top 💪🏻
Congratulations Lionel, amazing effort!! Hard to believe someone crushing the pedals in the 70’s and 80’s was feeling as well as a bunch of guys who riding a race like that will stay in the 90’s+ except for the climbs. It was amazing to watch you grind it out. There was a time I believed your heart monitor was screwing up because we could see the incredible watts lightly heavy breathing and a heart rate in the 120s. I was blown away! Chapeaux!!!
After Lionel’s win, I finally broke down, went to the Lionel Sanders Merch page, and purchased a LS headband........just got it today and “broke it in”. Fully satisfied..!
Lets be honest we all love cycling videos this is just what I need to get it going the blood I love it. I always watch these before I go out and get my body moving. I love when I always watch one of these, and then put up my heavy playlist I love like Delta Parole and then I just go haaaaard!!!! Tactic hasnt let me down yet.
Wow....that was entertaining!I might be a e-sports fan now. Play by play, in race commentary of your planned finish, just a great video. Well done Lionel!
@@knightsofni0 Exactly. Just look at Lionels breathing at 130bpm. It's around threshold/sweet spot kind of beathing. His perceived exertion at 130bpm is not what typical cyclist feels at that HR.

Wow. I have been e-racing on Zwift and it was great to see to put your performance in Zwift racing perspective. Well done!!! Amazing ride. Started watching your videos about 2 days ago when I watched you Mount Lemmon KOM videos, was impressed by your performance and attitude. Thanks for making the first live sport I've watched in what seems like ages really exciting.
The way he talks about his team on Discord... it unlocked his hidden gamer energy and gave him the strength to push to the win. Epic race. The competition is tough on Zwift.
136 avg heart rate whilst everyone else was minimum 166. You’re a horse Lionel! Chapeau et très bien fait bro
It doesn't really tell anything thought, it might aswell been the other way around and it doesn't matter.
Hr monitor malfunctioned
That is staggering.
In ten years he will be like 120 and still wining!😂
His HR monitor definitely wasn't recording correctly 100% of the time. It was reading 120 bpm during some of his maximal efforts. However, his average HR was probably lower than the rest. He's a full on endurance athlete vs a mix of endurance / power.
2050: My First Time with a Professional eSports swimming Team
now i'm curious on how that'd go
why 2050, could be next year tbh
Someone would probably build a swimming rig on air, similar to full racing rig
Their gonna be swimming in circles
