Yes believe it or not some people can and do wield power wisely. Study the example of the prophet Peace and blessings be upon him and his example is the literal embodiment of an ideal leader and I would argue the greatest leader that ever lived. Yes there are good people that wielded that kind of power and did not become corrupt but the amount of accountability on the day of judgement is also much higher. Leadership and servitude go hand in hand and requires some sacrifice if you're doing it right and most people are not and it's more of a title to them, high gain with less effort. He was likely being strict because the corruption of merchants was rampant. Cheating in business should be taken very seriously since it can be the root of corruption in a society and should be nipped in the bud so you necessarily need to set an example within reason. Corporate America is a prime example but not the only example. I would argue that the right person should have that kind of power and should have the support of wise people and people of understanding. Those with the right knowledge and capabilities, NOT necessarily the one with the most connections. Just food for thought.
