As soon as you hear that, "How ya doin everybody..." you know its a good video
Any Sweetwater video is a good video as long as Nick D’Virgilio is in it.
btw, much respect to the guys working at those factories... There´s no easy work on a factory.
When a product is named after your kids, you ensure it’s a quality piece no doubt!
Glad to see Sabian and Paiste are hand hammering their cymbals, unlike Zildjian. There's something about hand crafted products that just make them a step above.
A number of years ago Z started heading south in their quality. Old ones sound amazing, the newer ones not so much.
AFAIK, Sabian is the only major cymbal company that can boast that they still offer completely hand hammered cymbals.
If I can guess, hand hammering gives the cymbal its feeling, its soul.
Paistes are made differently. They are made out of sheet metal instead of being individually cast like Sabian/Zildjian. They are cut into disks then hammered into shape instead of being pressed.
Favorite cymbal company, I could watch videos on them all day.
one of my favourite drummers with my favourite cymbal brand! thumbs up for this vid. love it.
Best cymbals!

Ms. Sally Zildjian herself helped install the new Sabian display at Motor City Guitar in Waterford, MI way back in the 2000's.
She was so sweet, kind, and unassuming. Left an incredible impression in me of great respect.
Even though I had been (and still am) a Paiste player since 1990, she didn't even let that bother her in the slightest!
Love Nick's totally honest smile at the end after he hits the crash to top off playing a pattern the hats. I recently went to 15" XSR Monarch Hats to go with my 22" XSR Monarch and for now I'm going with an 18" HH Vanguard. That's my set up except for a 16" HHX Evolution that I've had for at least 20 years. I'm still on the hunt though for an even better crash/ride than the 18" Vanguard but I've only got one gig under my belt with it and I need to give it more time to grow on me. Delicious cymbal!
i got a sabian 20" ride cymbal a few months ago i luv how it sounds
You sound really great Nick… great video chap
Love you SABIAN .Brasil.amo a Sabian fã demais dessa marca fantástica de pratos.💙💙💙👍
east coast! Canadian made! love em!
I had 2 zildjian Canadian made cymbals a 20 " and a 18 " much different sounding cymbals then the USA made ....
Manual labor of love! Thank you, Sabian!
Please visit the Pearl factory!
Didn't realise how much handwork was performed making these.
It is my favorite brand and series are the XSR and the HHX
I'd love to have the xsr cymbals. I play church functions and worship stuff for charity events. Can't afford them at the moment but someday. I just love the sound of the xsr
Nice! It only takes 6 minutes and 21 seconds to make a Sabian cymbal!
@ the beginning of the video, the employee stated that the ingots were heated up for 45 minutes. Add in all of the additional heatings, hammering, lathing, trimming, etc and I’m sure that each cymbal actually takes several days to produce.
@@timm1139 It was a joke... They flew to Canada, did a tour of the facility, met all the people, saw all the cymbals...and squeezed all of that in to a 6 minute video...which didnt really show much of the Sabian factory.
@@crazy8sdrums Oops, that one went right past me, lol. One day I'd like to do the tour.
I’ve taken this tour it’s epic
I like Paiste cymbals are awesome 🤩 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
OMG! Nick touched a cymbal with his bare hand!!! Where was your white glove buddy? ;) Great tour vid. I've been there, but unfortunately didn't have enough time to do the full tour myself.
Presumably those are his selected personal cymbals..... Still, why start finger printing your new cymbals ?!
Frickin awesome
Love my Canadian made HH Sabians
I have a set of EQ Hats from the 90s that I’ll never part with.

Best Cymbals....👍
I'm more of a Zildjian guy myself, but I do respect Sabian.
Sabian founded by Robert Zildjian after the left the Zildjian company.
@@jorgeavalos2693 that has nothing to do with the fact they make 2 different products
Spooky_ bat_queen just a fun fact that not many people know. Calm down.
@@jorgeavalos2693 did not leave the company he was kicked out because they discovered ( when Mr Zildjian died ) that he was 1/2 brother...so they gave him the Canadian plant.Because Zildjian was making Canadian made cymbals at the time ( but that's another story) So he named the cymbals company by taking 2 first letters of is childrens name ....and got sued from the zildjian family to closely sounding."sabian zildjian " at ..that time was the manager at zildjian for international business so he kept all is contact
Mi favorita es Sabian y paiste
Hey Nick, did you end up letting your endorsements go on Mapex and Meinl? Just wondering, I see vids of you using all kinds of sweet gear now. Look forward to hearing your next project.
I use SABIAN cymbals! I use two 18 crashes from their AA and B8X lines, a 22” ride cymbal from their XSR line and a 10” splash cymbal from their AA line!
Super,)
SABIAN BEST CYMBALS EVER
How about a visit to the Mapex factory? Not many videos made.
From who is de music from, like it! ; )
I see now why there's so much variation in Sabian cymbals as opposed to Paiste.
How about the XSR cymbals ? Difference between them a AAX etc ?
in every video out there we see only how hh variety is hammered, but not a time where they show hhx or aax hammering, why is that so? I once saw a catologue from '00s and they stated, that aax were shaped on a pneumatic hammer but the process is hand guided, so I imagined it to be similar to what we see from the paiste factory tours, but is it really so, I don't know, and would like to
Sabian, yeah.
All the workers there look like the workers from the gay steel mill in that old simpsons episode
Sabiens best cimbal for the play
I like sabian cymbals 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Yes, Sabian is a Maritime company.
Visit the Meinl factory next
That’s would difficult since the cymbals are started in Turkey and finished in Germany.
@@aristotle5698 Aren't Meinl cymbals made by Diril and simply stamped with the Meinl name? I see no videos of the Meinl factory anywhere.
@@Assimilator702 they have a factory, but it’s like top secret I guess lol
@@aristotle5698 I hear it’s almost 100% automated except the stuff that comes from Turkey.
Is the HHX line hand hammered like the HH?
Hey, Jim. Thanks so much for your interest. Both HH and HHX are hand hammered. The HHX is more of a modern sound, yet dark. The HH is more of a traditional or vintage sound.
I hope this helps.

@@sweetwater What does the “X” in AAX and HHX stand for?
The only thing that I know is that they were made for modern music, in comparison to the AA and HH series, which is for vintage music.
So Sabian is what you use all the time Nick?
Love sabian cymbals but the sabian factory is a little underwhelming compared to the zildjian cymbal factory walk through lol. However what's funny is robert zildjian is the founder of sabian cymbals lol. All from the same family. I do like how sabian hand hammers the cymbals.
The Sabian factory started out as a Zildjian factory. The only reason Sabian exists is due to a family dispute between Robert and Armand Zildjian. To settle the dispute Robert was given some land over seas and the Canada factory under the condition that he could not make cymbals under the Zildjian name. Hence Sabian was born.
Porque si tienen un chingo los dan tan caros
\m/ Sabian \m/
Not sure why I've never gelled with Sabians - I mustn't have tried the right line yet
Kieren Moore what cymbals have you tried? What genre you play? What sound are u looking for? You probably were looking at the wrong series
manual labor right there!
Millions...
Paiste/Sabian>zildjian>meinl
I like Sabian, I respect those involved and a little envious of the work (🤤cymbals.)
But I noticed three things Zildjian and Sabian doesn't do that Paiste does.
Those guys hammering away just hammered and only check for shape.
Paiste has to count the hammering and place it a certain way for sound consistency and then check multiple times the thickness as well as shape. Paiste also uses machines to help hammer.
I love those Sabian XSR Monarch cymbals and HH monarch but they are so inconsistent with sound, I find one that sounds great but can't buy it then when I have the money it's gone but the new one arrived sounds like a trash lid. 😫
Paiste Giant Beat, Modern Essentials and Masters are so consistant that I geuss that's why they are so expensive.
Pros and cons. 😫 I can't afford or find what I want right now.
But Paste doesn't have the secret family formula.... I haven't listened to them in decades, maybe Paste has greatly advanced ?
So cool to see how these beautiful music-making metal discs are made. Going to see if I can find Nick's blues project now.. FOUND IT! ua-cam.com/video/_6QKWioHv5A/v-deo.html
Se me paro la Japi
if a given cymbal is no good, the worker is rejected and recycled into something else¡¡¡
Keep it cymbal 😅
I love how much more invested Nick seems in this video than in the Zildjian one😂
I was all Zildjian, until Sabian.....
