You need to add genes to your ghouls - they have very interesting mechanics, because they are intrinsically immune to all of the drug dependencies and mood penalties, so you can make a killer xenogerm to apply to them. And you can apply those AFTER ghoul has been created too.
Consider this, tough ghoul with following genes:
- very fast speed
- naked speed
- toxic immunity
- fire resistance
- strong melee
- robust
- unstoppable
man one of the craziest things to me is that francis just never uses keyboard shortcuts...I chuckle every time he manually clicks over to de-draft his pawns...I don't think I could ever live like that :D
To many shortcuts is confusing for the audience. This way you can see what he is doing. Not everyone plays rimworld 😊

Opening his eyes again, he realized he stood right in front of the heavily enforced door. How had he gotten there? It was the voice in his head. The voice whispering sweet things and making promises. But the voice was wrong. Or was it? He wished it would stop, just be quiet for one moment. Just ... so he could concentrate. Kevin watched as his hands carefully released the restraints of the revenant, which was shivering in ... excitement? He couldn't tell, but Kevin was excited, too. THIS, this was his purpose. This was his ... Kevin frowned as he watched the revenant glide towards the reinforced door. He felt like he was awakening from a dream ... a very very bad dream. What had he done? Cursing, Kevin raised his gun and started shooting the revenant. That thing was dangerous, why ... why had he released it? Kevin didn't know anymore. He just hoped the cavalry was ready for what was gliding through the now open door of the containment facility.
If you want, there is a mod called 'Tweak Galore" that is basically a bajillion QoL mods merged into one.
There is a bunch of settings to tweak a lot of stuff, from stopping steel from burning to allowing you to see the stat of "Incident Pawns" (Those that call for help but refuse to tell about themselves).
The one you might like though, is "Disable Damage Threshold", it removes the 150 damage threshold where pawns instantly dies, and instead make it so that pawns can only die of an actual cause, like getting their brain turned into a milkshake.
Do be aware that it also applies to enemies pawns, so you might find that raiders become a lot tankier (But I personally didn't notice).
To deal with the problem with the injury cap, i recommend the mod "No More Lethal Damage Threshold". Because base game if tou take x amount of injuries you just keel over. This stops that.
I love that mod (also Tweaks Galore / TD enhancements, which also come with that feature IIRC). I do realize that it edges out of "QoL" into "altering game balance" territory, but it applies to enemies too, so I suppose it's fair. I imagine it would make centipedes even scarier.
They may have patched it, but the last time I did ghoul operations, it needed medicine for anything other than the ghoul specific implants
You need to name a ghoul Kenny, Each time he dies you can say "Oh my god, you killed Kenny!"
For the distress signal, there was an entire building right near where your pawns entered the map that you completely ignored

You could replace the human leather slave collar with a bioferrite slave collar for it's boost to psychic sensitivity. In fact you may want to start distributing those to your other psycasters too.
I may have to steal this Kenny idea. Also, good call on the dioferrite slave collars.
Found a cool trick to training medical: (1) Install a Peg Leg on a Ghoul (2) Remove Peg Leg (3) Leg will Re-Grow (4) Rinse (5) Repeat. (6) Profit

16:43 The next time you do one of those ancient dangers, put enough components and chemfuel in the transport pod to build an outpost with wha steel/stone blocks you scavenge from the area. That way you can set up a ritual spot, transmitter beacon, transport pod and launcher along with power generation and turn the entire area into clusterf**k for whatever hostiles are inside should they prove nasty enough. call Shamblers, Draw maddened Animals, Diabolus-- fill your boots. Because if you manage to clear it out, deconstruct everything and call in a shuttle-- just imagine the jackpot.
It's basically 1400 - 2000 bricks, steel and cloth for each danger if you dismantle them.
It's very doable but I just don't see it as being worth the time and risk investment.
Long range mineral scanner gets you a steel site and it's work 1800 ish steel every time.
Bring back 300 stone chunks as well and that is 1500 bricks.
We are assuming you are using the shuttle otherwise way to much weight.
The cloth well.... if you want to make a lot of clothing to sell that is actually a really good source. Rip up the carpets and turn them into corsets.
End of the day steel can be obtained safely on your home tile and so can stone chunks. Cloth depends on your crop situation.
Their is not enough value on an ancient danger to make it worth killing everything.

Oof and condolences on that Distress Signal. 1 shard is rough, and quite literally the lowest roll possible. I don't think I've ever got less than 2. My average is 3.
But I've also found Archotech parts a few times now at the Empire sites. So they are always worth checking out.
Can I offer some advice for those? Bring a couple turret packs, flares, and flamethrowers (Incinerators). My strategy is to never even take a scratch because those scratches can be Metal Horror infection vectors. The turret packs act as a distraction AND explosive. Flamethrowers up front and a psyfocus guy with Flares and Skip at the back. The Anomaly monsters take 300% fire damage.

The distress signal missions are supposed to be a mess. There are even beds so you can recover from grievous wounds, which I’ve definitely done a few times.

before attuning the monolith you should provoke the void to(hopefully) send you some gorehulks. easy to contain and give plenty of bioferrite when harvested. a must if you plan to get into bioferrite-burning machinery
wasn't sure about the hediff mod at first, but I can't lie it's growing on me. I might even download it in my playthrough.
Weird, I can't find a comment. For those curious as to why Compact Hediffs wasn't showing blood loss, it's because there's been very little bleeding in this episode. Ghouls don't bleed, armor turns bullet wounds into bruises, etc.
You can see some bleeding at 34:34, it's the red bar at the top of the health tab. The only reason blood loss wouldn't be sorted at the top (by default, check mod settings) is if a more serious injury is above it.
Compact hedriff is great to tell which body part almost got blown off!
Shame it reduces the visibility of how much the body part is bleeding, which is far more important. Who cares that the body part only has 1 point left, if you can't tell how badly it's bleeding?

You can tell bleeding based on the red marks. Small red marks are scratches, large red marks are heavy bleeding, usually the worst injury is sorted to be at the top (and gets treated first when tended).
I'm not sure if it's an update, mod config, or another mod, but my version of compact hediffs also gives me the 'time until healed/time until dead' tooltip as part of the limb health. It looks something like this:
21/25 Limb [injury mark injury mark] (~20 hours until healed)
55/100 Blood Loss (~2 days until dead)
I love the thought of Peshet bleeding out one of her legs insisting that changing pants before getting medical attention is the correct call despite it probably soaking her new pants with blood (this was not so secretly her goal the whole time).

My opinion is that, you're the one playing the game. If Compact Hediffs makes it easier for you to see what's happening to your pawns and you get used to is, then stick with it :D

3) (just breaking the mold a bit) a female jogger called "Diarrhea". Could be "runny shit" ,too. I would prefer the Greek name though, due to..... reasons. That have nothing to do with my ethnic background. no honestly. Nothing at all. Neither Beavis and Butthead.

I probably should have commented this earlier, but when the mechanoids are shooting at your walls you can probably place a skipshield between the mech and the wall to get them to blast away uselessly

Btw you should give war machine a bioferrite collar. bioferrite gear (and swords) give up to x1.2 psychic sensitivity each (can get absurd with full bioferrite gear)
57:24 you can administer anesthesia to war machine, then form a caravan with all your other pawns and use ghouls to attack the obelisk. It will clone him up to 30 times.
Not just yet, we want to have Warmachine skilled up a hell of a lot more first.

I converted a colonist with brain damage into a goul while he still had his assault rifel on him. The goul uses it in combat, he's mainly used for melee but I like the versatility.
That is interesting, I assume that is a bug. Would be nice to have shooting ghouls.
I recommend referring to the beautiful Shit family genealogy featured a the end of last episode as the Schitt family genealogy, since you seemed to struggle with describing Jack Shit and his name. Any similarity to common idioms is surely a coincidence. ;)

I used Compact Hediffs a while back. I didn't really get used to it, and I found the performance was worse with a lot of minor injuries. Not really a fan.
And yes, there's a few mods that remove the damage limit. I'm not a fan of the damage limit.
Imagine a ghoul, who is tough, nimble, robust stone skinned, and wearing cataphract armor with 20 melee and a power claw!
Ghouls can't wear clothing or armour, they have armour plating instead.
I only have base game and anomaly, does stone skinned and metalblood serum stack? That reduces incoming damage by another 50%.

I'm kinda shocked it's took 18 episodes before FJ mentioned it. Although to be fair, colony happiness isn't the problem, the social fighting is, and there is no cure for that, except killing off all the psychopaths, but FJ specifically wants to do a mainly psychopath run, just for the giggles I assume. :)
Fleecing the Empire is nothing new at this point, but there is something quite grim about capitalising on the barest of interpersonal relationships to pass on a pawn's estate.
It's mainly as half the team are psycho's. They lose most of the social bonds stuff.
