ONE DAY SOON........I hope to FINISH reading the long epic poem " The Odyssey a modern sequel " by Nikos Kazantzakis. ONE of the most important books in my whole life. I first discovered a copy of it upstairs in a Hobart Tasmania secondhand bookshop in the late 1970,s ( which burnt-down later ) I first saw the hardback copy when I was 12, in a reference library, the 1962 movie "THE 300) SPARTANS " with Richard Egan ( superlative in that role ) had just come to Launceston...I took my paperback copy of "the Odyssey" to Skopelos in 1999, and read some pages on on a pebbly beach....I,ve had a large postcard of the Zakynthos ship and cliffs on countless mantelpieces over the years......this video has pumped some nuclear-fission into my arteries , and at the sprightly tender age of 74 it is time to pack my copy of Kazantzakis, into a suitcase......dont you think ??
I really don't see the fascination with this place the beaches are rubbish and anywhere with nice Chrystal clear water needs a boat trip ... Cyprus in ayia napa or protraos much better
I’m Cypriot and I disagree, you haven’t found the good beaches then. You need to take a car up to the mountains and there are so many beautiful coves that are not cluttered and busy like the famous Cyprus beaches.
@@bbhdd6181 found the good beaches ? IV been to the best beaches Zakinthos have to offer and they all need a boat and even then it's pebbles or stones surrounded by cliffs !! If you prefer that to white sand with crystal clear water and palm trees then yeh stick to zakynthos / zante
@@deanjohnson3660 that’s just not true though you need to take a car into the mountains - there are sandy little coves everywhere you just need to explore. No boat needed - in fact the ones by boat are pretty but yes very rocky like you say. Cyprus is beautiful too obviously. There’s something for everyone and I’m glad you like Cyprus 🇨🇾
