MOB also make fine woodworking tools. In fact, my favourite chisels, and I have a good quality set of Japanese chissies that sits lying unused. Looks like one could make a flatter, by cutting off a portion of a sledge, and welding to a good solid base. Round off the edges. I'm a do it.
Didn’t know they made woodworking tools! Cool. Yeah flatters can be homemade as well. I’ve seen a lot of variations of welded up ones
@@MatthewHarrisStudio what makes this flatter so amazing to you? Is it that the vertical portion is forge welded to the horizontal "flatter" steel? The weight is easily duplicated to my mind, as are the sizes for the MOB flatters. Curious to read your thoughts.

@@wallacewithoutgromit my guy and I are literally laughing as we stand by the forge as we just got done using a flatter for the last half hour and we used it for a couple hours yesterday.
