If you're a cat person, you know that change is difficult for cats. Kurt's had a lot lately. You dated, then married, then he was not yet accepting of wife, then you moved. That's a LOT for a little kitty in a short time. I think the most important thing is lots and LOTS of time with Kurt. Cuddles can't be overdone. His choice of hiding under the covers seems like his way of reducing all the new stimuli. Blankets smell like Daddy and he is "safe" from the onslaught of never-ending stimuli. The not eating is a problem. Cats cannot go for periods of time without food. He needs something to encourage him to eat. Perhaps a visit to the vet (or at least a call) is in order.
My uncle had a cat which I liked so much but she didn't liked me a bit 😭, we always let her roam freely outside the house and she was very attached to that area so we left him there when we had to move out , don't worry tho next owner of the house took really good care of her until she passed away
He was very nice, thanking Hagan for fixing the CD player for him. I do think he liked it some. As for his stuffed cat pal, like we've been telling you, Kurt doesn't actually hate it. He's been trying to play with it. Seeing it in the new house, I think he found it comforting because it smells like him and is cat-shaped.
Cats generally don't like open and empty spaces. They like lots of places to hide. The emptiness of a room makes them uncomfortable. That's why he is always hiding himself inside the bed covers.
Even it made me feel uncomfortable. I know they just moved in and it takes time, but I get it from the cat's perspective. It was incredibly empty, very nice, but kinda depressing as well
You're doing fine! A new house is an adjustment. Kurt needs to inspect his new domain, rub his head on everything so it smells right, and eventually feel comfortable. You're doing the right thing, getting calm scents and places he can perch and hide around the house. Just be patient! He will learn to self-sooth. As long as he has his family to feel safe and trust, he will be fine.
Hey Kurt, congratulations on the new home. My wife and I love watching all of Kurt’s videos. He acts and looks just like our Achilles who passed away last year after 18 wonderful years with us. Watching Kurt brings such joy to our day and we look forward to seeing all of your videos of Kurt. Thank you!!
Kurt is a little baby gem and so lucky to have such dedicated owners. Been there myself moved one time with three cats. Hard work but when you love them it has to be done. They are all gone now buried in our back garden. We adored them and could never forget them. Good luck 🍀 with your future adjusting together in your new home ❤❤❤
You should invest in scent neutralizers. They even make plug-in equivalents with 'relaxer pheromones' so you can leave them automatically running throughout the house. I did that for several days before I brought in my rescue cat, and she almost immediately became queen of the house!
My mom got one of these for when our indoor outdoor cat first came into our lives and had her kittens in our house. She reacted well to them and wasn't very anxious, the kittens were great with it too!
Awww..that sweet baby! Looks like our King is doing well, get this handsome boy a gorgeous rug for his room! His royal paws need not touch that cold floor!😂❤
Cat Nip. Get his cat nip balls back in his room, or put a bit of cat nip all around the house. Major Important: Cats are nocturnal hunters, give him that big wet meal at your bed time. That follows his natural instincts, and a big meal will force him to sleep a while before getting active. In the Old House, the stuffed cat was an intruder, and no he didn't like him. In this NEW house, HE IS SOMETHING FAMILIAR... so yes, he might be a friend now. Try getting him a small stuffed animal and put it in a bag with Cat Nip over night. Then let him investigate and eventually attack the new intruder. Cats don't sleep or 'litter' box where they eat. Put his meals in a simiar location to the old house. Call him, when you put the food out at night, and let him come to the dinner table when he feels comfortable. I would suggest keeping his kibble bowl full all the time, for a few weeks. Give him the sense of comfort that he can eat when he feels safe. OH, Hagan needs to be a part of this feeding process. One of you bring the Wet Food, and other fills the crunchy bowl, and Hagan needs to physcially handle a few treats by the bowls. Get Kurt accostumed to her smell with the food. Kurt isn't getting used to a new house, only, he's getting accostumed to a new room mate, too. Be patient, he'll come around. Ignoring him, for a couple of days might do him a world of good.
Tip on food. I mix in treat, fresh dry food (from bag, not feeder) and favorite wet food (usually salmon or turkey) into a little pile and use a spoon to make a mountain. Add a little water, and my little girl will down it. Mix in more treats (only need like 5 or 6 total) if there is still some leftover wet food. I do this first thing anytime we go on a trip
I love seeing Kurt. He reminds me so much of my boy, SimBA that passed away last year in January. Kurt brings so much joy as my little boy did for 18 amazing years! The many splendors of loving a kitty is endless! Love you ^,,^
Kitty Kurt is just so darned cute! There's so much cuteness in here, it's just unbelievable. Meow! Absolutely adorable! Please give Kurt lots of love and pets and fun playtime on my behalf! And lots on your own! Such a fun and cute little buddy! Just awesome.
Hello, Abram. Marriage looks really good on you! Hagan is adorable and sweet-sounding. Kurt will find his groove; you are helping him out with a snazzy banana bed. Cheers and take care.
I'm so glad to see Kurt is starting to get adjusted in the new home! Him looking in the mirror and through the bars upstairs was just the cutest 🥰🥰 I hope he continues to improve as you continue the journey in your new home!
Cats love the familiar and as time passes your new home will be for Kurt. Spend as much time with him as possible for the time being because you are both familiar to him and soon this phase will soon be over 😸
Leave an old t-shirt that you have worn where he favors to help calm him. Also try Rachel Ray food. We have a few cats that we care for ( including outdoor strays ) and we have found that they like it. Both the wet and the dry but purchase the variety pack for the wet. When we moved one of our girls stayed under the bed for nearly a fortnight!
When a cat does the howling after moving, leave a light on for kitty. Heat the food a bit to get him to eat. It often takes time for a cat to get used to the new place, they really HATE change. It's the new smells. (that's why he liked the toy he used to hate, it smells like his home). For calming and relaxing your cat, go with Feliway. Find one of the cat relaxation videos. my owners like the harp and purring ones. I hope he's settled in, if not, he will soon. You just have to get your and his scents all over.
Try feeding him in the kitchen the same time your eating. (My cat always liked to eat with me) Your brave boy will see u eat and want to be part of the 'social ' activity. ❤❤
Cats love soft music. My ginger has a particular fondness for Camera Obscura, probably because I was playing "Let's Get Out of Ths Country" when he and his brother came to live with us. Any time I put that CD on, he turns into a purr and chill machine.
He should have let Kurt be in one room with his food, water and box….and let him get used to the house in his own time. It’s not unusual for kitties to hide for days sometimes weeks in a new place. All of my cats hid for a period of time when I brought them home. He’s forcing it, probably for these vids which did not help. I’m not loving how much he was forcing poor Kurt to get comfortable.
He really tought your wife's bed was the best, but he decided only daddy's the one. ^.^ A bengal cat loves listening that video with me, I now have cat fur beard and he send you all his love.
🔔 It never ceases to amaze the number of videos out there of pet owners wringing their hands and bemoaning the fact that Fido or Kitty hasn't eaten. Just leave dry pet food and water out and FORGET IT! 🤦
Poor Kurt! It looks like a nice house. If I was forced to move there, I would be fine on the very first day. I would even eat on the first day. I love salmon!
Abram created heavenly asylum for Kurt, he can have anxiety sometimes, his good angel is still here and I believe we support the happiest cathuman friendship ever. I admire and learn, still having two cats. They are doing very well, however, I can still improve my care. Lucy

My Xena (also orange cat) has about 50,000 km traveled (air, car, ferry, train, bus, bike, and hike) and b/c of her extensive travels she’s adapted to around 15 houses, apartments and hotels. Just got luck with her chill traveling and moving, but she’s a boxer when comes to vet visits. Literally boxes at the vet. I’m running out of vets out in town! We have Xmas travel coming and keeping fingers crossed we get through her health certificate to travel appointment! 🍀🍀
Kurt is coming along with the new house, he needs more time to adjust. The same goes for his warming up to your wife. I will be in this same situation once I get married to my fiancee. They have a dog and four cats, since I am new to the animals it's going to take some time for them to get used to me being in their home.

Although I'm sorry that Kurt was so anxious, I've gotta say that he looked so cute hiding behind the footboard of the bed and hiding under the covers.
Him under the covers was absolutely the cutest
My kitties do that too hehe

Agree about the stuffed cat pal….he likes him and is playing with him! 💯% 👍👍👍
Cat cd was nice. He seemed to like the peaceful sound. Cats ears are sensitive to noise!
It was incredibly empty, very nice, but kinda depressing as well
I have no idea what I'm talking about, but maybe put some stuff near the walls in the rooms with some space between, so he can walk/hide behind it?
