  • In this video, we finish up the shrug by adding a decorative, yet functional silk ribbon to the top. You are welcome to weave the silk into the shrug however you prefer, I am just showing you exactly how I made my original Yuna Shrug.
Substitutes for the silk ribbon: silk/mercerized cotton/bamboo cording, knitted i-cord, woven straps, braided silk/cotton t-shirt scraps, lengths of handspun yarn, felted wool rope, funky shoe laces, friendship 'bracelets', or nothing at all. :) You guys are so creative, so this is by no means an exhaustive list!

    Here's what you'll need:
US 11 circular knitting needles (16" or 24" cable)
1 cabling needle, or 1 dpn (double-pointed needle), size US 11
Stitch markers (2 different colors, if you prefer)
Your handspun! (or other bulky weight yarn)
Silk finishing tie, optional, but nice

How much do I need?: You'll want to err on the side of more, so if you have 7-8 ounces of wool, that'll be plenty for the whole project. The project calls for 160g of wool, which is about 5.6 ounces, but since you'll be carding and plying, extra wool is necessary to ensure the proper yardage.
