Well the qualities of women would be a bit different topic. This is Tina, this are her features. And finally the pro’s and cons of our Tina. Next week a true gem, a lady with sone blue blood, tune in next time :))
I've been following the channel since the early days and I am so glad that you've returned to your roots with this bag review! I would love to see more content like this 🙏🏼
I mean I'm not pretty enough for a handbag anyway but I really do prefer the hands-free approach of a good backpack. Makes running to catch the last tram or dodging rogue drivers easier. Also, bike compatible.
Don’t put yourself down, king. There is no reason not to at least try, i will probably try the handbag look as well, might be something new. We cannot deny the classy look of it. And i really relate to running to catch the last tram with a backpack on, on a different level lol.
love this beautiful bag. Carl Fredrik is a bit expensive. I'd love to find some bags or backpack at a little more reasonable price...but not sure you can in leather.
Personally, I’d like to see you cover clothing styles, in addition to what you already cover. I’d like to learn more about a proper gentleman’s casual wardrobe style, particularly.
As someone more than a little obsessive about my travel bags, I would have liked a little more detail on how well it held all the various electronics, wires, chargers, and other items that go with the gear. Nice detail on the workmanship, but I would have liked some more on how well it functioned. Some more detailed looks at interior space, how well it loaded up a laptop, power supply, camera, headphones, etc. I like how it looks but I can't tell if it would hold what I need. Oh, and how can you do a close up on a zipper without commenting on the smoothness of the pull? That's like reviewing a dive watch without commenting on the click of the bezel.
Thank you so much Andy, you are such a gent for saying so. I have done a few on my beloved Floris, maybe some other brands would be a good idea. I will note down your suggestion. Best regards, TGV
It's unbelievable that most "men" think anything in leather with handles is a "purse." That would mean a wood-framed or hard-shell briefcase is a purse? What about the wallets that are chained to your belt? Come off it; a purse is a generic name for a money bag. Men use bags to carry their things- from papers and documents, to equipment, guns, food, etc. A "Man-bag" is what the sissies or masculine women carry.
I've just ordered one of everything that they sell, in every colour, _and_ a spare one for emergencies such as when the house nearby has a fire, they're _so_ required for any gent these days...and cheap at half the price.
Love that you are elegantly dressed even at home in these crazy times i.e. self respect, dignity and not sitting home in tracksuits 24/7. I do the same and I think it makes a difference until world goes back to somewhat normal. Keep up the good work and positivity
Jeeves: Shall I lay out one of your novelty handkerchiefs for you today, Sir? Bertie: Oh, come off it, Jeeves! Everyone wears things with initials on them nowadays. Jeeves: I thought the practice was restricted to those who were in danger of forgetting their names, Sir.
I actually like that the channel has gone back to the roots reviewing more than only watches. It has a chance to reach out to more people and get them into... watches ;)
Mahi leather produce some really great full grain leather weekenders for a a more affordable price, but if you can afford these, they are 100% worth the spend imo.
I purchased an outstanding doctors bag in Florence, Italy last year. Handmade, incredible attention to detail, buttery soft leather and tastefully designed. Italian style at it's best. : )
I loved sartorial content from early days of the channel! I just re-watched all War Room videos last weekend. I loved bracelet video in early days. I often go to channel and sort videos from oldest on the top and binge watch. Glad to see that channel is returning to it's original roots. That intro with the bridge always brings nice memories. All the best Tristano.
Wow, I am rather honored and a little bit horrified too! LOL My early videos, well, all of my videos to be honest are so rudimentary! Oh well, I guess we all have to start somewhere right?!? Anyways, thank you so much my friend. Best regards, TGV
Yes, like your videos about the gentleman's do dads one can buy. In fact two weeks ago I bought a Carl Friedrik Palissy Double Bag for my son, a lawyer. Should be plenty of room inside for all the papers plus a chicken salad sandwich.
I truly love this kind of videos. Nothing better than receiving good advice and inspiration from a true gentleman! I have a couple of PIQUADRO bags which both served me very well over the past five years. Will be looking into CF"s offers after your video! Thanks!
Thank you! I am always looking for a quality messenger and/or weekend bag. I recently discovered the Carl Friedrik brand on a search, but until now have not quite made my decision to purchase. Your review has certainly given me incentive. And I just had another look at their website, and was pleased to see they display prices in my local currency of CAD. And, yes, although they are not inexpensive, they seem to be an incredible value. Some of the more well known brands are many times more expensive and nowhere near the quality. A friend of mine has a LV messenger bag, and it is absolute garbage. Matter of fact, I don't even think they use real leather, and a local leather shop I deal with even verified that. Price of that bag is well over 3 grand! Thanks again! Cheers, Carl
I agree with your list of essentials for every gent ... I'll also add a timeless and good quality pair of sunglasses. For me, it has to be either the Wayfarer or Clubmaster by Ray Ban.
I got a Ruitertassen tan briefcase last month, it's full grain and doesn't feel at all like what I expected, as some would say fresh veg tan leather is like "cardboard" but I hear it gets better with time. For anyone else who thinks the standard leather briefcase pricing of 400-500$ among almost every brand I've seen that's discussed on the internet, it's a good alternative for half the price.
@@theurbangentry Cheers - great video - but you didn't mention if its easy to carry - being quite large, on the shoulder does it sit well? Other things to consider are pens, you have an Olight flashlight - so maybe torches and other EDC items - but I missed your earlier videos on collectibles so will have to go back through your channel and see what you covered.
''Traditional Urban Gentry style video''....i like to hear that again. I don't think that every man should own a bag, I didn't have a bag never in my life. That's probably because i've spent half of my life in a uniform so i'm disgusted from suits still today, that reminds me on a uniform.....even i can say that i don't wear a jeans at all...i'm using a tracksuit and hoodie 24 hours per day. But it's nice to see a gentleman like you with a nice bag....it suits you. Despite i hate suits, uniforms and all that, i'm an old school ghost from the past, everything that i got for you is nice words and respect. It's nice to see good old TGV that is speaking about a Gentry.....bags, nice jackets, nice leather products, nice pens, nice vintage knives. Still i love your videos. Ciao
Good evening tgv I hope that this finds you well and safe , what can you say about CF a absolute quality product if I do say so myself, and also I can not believe it was a year ago to the day of the London meeting, wow how time flies unbelievable; anyway thank you so much for the great vid and review, take care; Onwards and Upwards your friend Ryan.
As for cheaper bags not lasting, I bought my backpack for £24 from sport direct 14 years ago, and there's nothing wrong with it, and i use it nearly every day. It's survive all my years at Uni and beyond!
Good call. Buying quality, in a classic design, is never a bad idea - it ends up being an investment. This could be a series: a guide to sport coats, a guide to dress shoes, pairing clothing items and bringing together a wardrobe, etc. The watch videos are always great, but there's more to life, and you present it well. Perhaps when we're able to step out, and be more carefree again, we can do so in style... a bit more gentlemanly. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada.
Hi TGV, I agree on trying to find elegant and quality bags but unfortunately there is no and there will never ever be an elegant backpack....there is no such thing. Carrying things on the back is never ever elegant....I personally have found vintage leather bags very stylish....
Thank you for the great reviews. I love the entire Palissy line and considering purchasing the Double. Question please: I notice your mobile didn't fit in the zippered outside pocket; is there another larger zippered mobile 'pocket' accessible from the outside, please? (FYI: Custom interior color no longer possible unless you order 5 units, and I do not see the ability to add initials. It's unfortunate that the personalization aspect is going away!
Shoes! I always go for retro trainers, e.g. (Asics Onistuka tigers) ,lace up boots (brown or black), rough boots like the Moc toe type (red wing) ect. Pretty much all clothing I have is classic and or dateless.
Have you come across Rose Anvil youtube channel? About 6 months ago they cut apart a Carl Friedrik briefcase. Was interesting to see the actual construction details. Their conclusion was that it was, a few personal niggles aside, very well made, of good quality and worth the money.
Another great video. I always enjoy. Do you have recommendation for a slim leather zipper portfolio. The type that usually have the zip across two sides and is just big enough to contain files, pen, and perhaps a slim laptop/pad if needed. I saw one once at Johnson Murphy's and no long see it. It must be manufactured by someone. Thanks for any ideas you might have.
I like the Hannibal poster, my favorite "Horror" movie. I'm sure it's no coincidence we're both into watches and bag etc. Hannibal has class. I'm a huge foodie too, and I'd eat at Hannibal's table anytime, haha. He prefers to eat the rude, so I feel a gentleman would have no worries in his company. ;)
Just grabbed a bambino Iv (blue dial) to start the collection. Thought it’d be the sieko 807 but the opportunity presented itself for a new to the hobby extremely budgeted fella. Anyways just posting to thank this channel for all the help in learning about watch collecting. Urban Gentry, and Long Island Watch have been awesome, entertaining, and accessible learning tools. Thank you.
Definitely essential. Mine are: ancient (>25 years) Tumi leather overnight bag/briefcase, great for one- or two-day trips. From the good old days when Tumi quality was still high, and it still scrubs up almost as new. And a newer but now also well-travelled handsome Knomo Brixton (IIRC) double compartment black leather briefcase. Oodles of space for laptop, papers and in-flight stuff plus spare shirt, socks etc if I've checked my other luggage. For cycling/walking business days (ie not often) a lightweight Hideo Wakamatsu hybrid briefcase with concealed backpack straps.
Tristiano, cheers to you and your loved ones! I prefer a more classic "flap" style briefcase but geez this is an elegant choice, bravo, especially in black.
My taste runs very similar - quality leather, brief case dimensions. I see so many sling bags pitched by UA-camrs, they remind me of fanny packs, just as small messenger bags - well they're purses. Nicely done as always.
I love the idea. I live in the suburbs so I replace the bag with a personalized leather binder, custom leather driving gloves and the trunk of my car. I'm not sure if its more or less complicated. I wish I had a use for such a nice bag. maybe a lifestyle change is in order. Thanks TGV.
Love to see you try your grandfather's moustache style - or the Clark Gable ... even more of that old school class vibe ... and hey the best part is that if it doesn't work you can shave it off.
Hi TGV, I would like to thank you for the videos you post. I am a new watch collector and you are a true inspiration. I am also a new fan and I watched a lot of your videos. I would to know your reviews about Xeric watches. I don't know if you have heard of them but I've seen a lot of them in ads. I was wondering if they are good quality watches and if should buy one. Thank you again for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Great review and great focus on quality as usual. To answer your question about other things, a pen and a pocket knife are always on me. Once I switched to fountain pens I never switched back
Really enjoyed this one. Have been hugely influenced by and an avid fan of your watch content but not really followed your videos of this sort. That was a mistake. Would love to see more content like this and on other sartorial matters. Great work as ever.
Thanks for the review, TGV. I prefer a slimmer smaller leather bag. I rarely take my laptop on business trips unless I will be away for more than three days. I just like to travel light. To answer your question regarding essentials, I suggest discussing men's attire, such as shoes, and men's accessories, such as fountain pens. Continued success with the channel.
I recently started getting into fountain pens and they are a beautiful way to correspond. Would highly recommend them. Even an entry level Pilot Metropolitan is a great way to jot down information or for correspondence. Would love to hear TGV's take on them as well as shoes and such :-)
Essentials in my book are a good watch, I’ve just acquired an Oris TT1 Titan 300m Divers Chronograph which will hopefully arrive tomorrow, a nice suit, a nice wool coat, a nice pair of boots, shoes, a leather jacket, a good knife and some nice jewelry.
Love this style of video! I would eventually like to get a bag of this caliber, but I need to learn more about taking care of leather first. I feel silly sometimes wearing my sports backpack into work lol.
I do love these types of videos, you’ve really opened my eyes to some fantastic brands that I didn’t know existed, I do hope you’d consider maybe putting one of these type of videos up every month with your favourite brands in gentleman’s Attire and accessories.
The bag doesn't work for my lifestyle, I work in Tech in a sports company, very young people, cycle to work everyday, ride motorcycle in the weekends, a backpack for me it's essential. But I really liked the design of this one. Good one.
Yes please on more like this. I’m a huge fan of Tusting from the UK, I have four of their bags and you can tell they will last a lifetime and then some. It would be amazing to see you do a piece on them from their UK workshops and we would all wish for “Smell O’ Vision” because it must smell amazing in there with all that beautiful leather.
Let’s go back to the beginnings of “the gentry”.. EDC, espresso machines, fashion and the rest of it. Oh, not to mention watches. Great 👍 videos!
Videos of London, Fortnum & Masons, Japanese art / cinema, signet rings, sartorial choices. I miss those videos.
Yess, I do appreciate the watch vids but I love and enjoy your lifestyle vids even more. Always introducing me to things I've never come across before. Thanks 🙏
So happy to hear that!!!! I miss make sure to keep bringing it back every so often.

Massive respect to TGV for not selling out to the likes of the Ridge wallet crap and such like. Keeping it classy.
If you want a quality alternative to the ridge wallet, I run a Secrid wallet. Aluminim and leather made in the Netherlands.

Yeah, backpacks are nice and convenient, but they don’t really go with a suit or a classic coat.
Indeed
I quite like your overcoat in this as well.

Hi TGV, could you share the piano instrumental you have playing in the background while you narrate? Some very relaxing stuff.
Great video… I’m very interested in purchasing it. No mention of a strap to secure it to luggage. Is there one?
Yes, we do want more videos with this type of content as well.
Tristiano, cheers to you and your loved ones!
I prefer a more classic "flap" style briefcase but geez this is an elegant choice, bravo, especially in black.
Great review. Keep them coming!
So, in the same way there are Casio and Timex watches, are there any quality, more affordable backpack and briefcase recommendations?
What kind of camera are you using? The quality is exceptional
I’m glad you mentioned the designer brands too, I think some believe that the price ensures quality but that really isn’t the case!
Absolutely, Sam. Nouveau gear.
Thanks TGV.
New to the channel....loving the vibe and content. I could tell he wanted to talk about his watch more ;)
Bought the Carl Friedrik's Palissy because I saw it on your channel, for a good garment carry-on roller, I love the new Hook & Albert carry-on
Yes! Another lifestyle video. Love them! Looking forward for more.
Billingham - The king of the side bag. My current one was bought in 98 - Still good as new.
Yes pls ! I love your content !
Especially when you review other things !
In either way, your content is gold
Thank you, I am flattered and honored.
Best regards,
TGV
Would love to hear TGV's take on them as well as shoes and such :-)
The bag is very handsome and matches you. 9:40 I wonder who the next hit target will be 😛
Essentials in my book are a good watch, I’ve just acquired an Oris TT1 Titan 300m Divers Chronograph which will hopefully arrive tomorrow, a nice suit, a nice wool coat, a nice pair of boots, shoes, a leather jacket, a good knife and some nice jewelry.
TVG, I've got to say: you are absolutely rocking that outfit!!! Badass!!!
Love this style of video! I would eventually like to get a bag of this caliber, but I need to learn more about taking care of leather first. I feel silly sometimes wearing my sports backpack into work lol.
I do love these types of videos, you’ve really opened my eyes to some fantastic brands that I didn’t know existed, I do hope you’d consider maybe putting one of these type of videos up every month with your favourite brands in gentleman’s
Attire and accessories.
