I'm a professional as well (tv/film, going union soon!) and the really terrifying thing is, if she hasn't been tested, she could already have been exposed to pathogens like herpes (both simplexes), Hep C, HIV etc that stay with you for life. Even outside of those, you could catch any curable kind of infection (say, pink eye or a fungal infection) and even those can have lasting aesthetic or health effects. It's really scary!!
Years back, when I just started getting into makeups, I read an article about a woman getting herpes from lip stick testers at MAC. And that got me so paranoid that I wouldn't even put testers at the stores on my face. With these unhygienic makeup 'artists' and salons, it's really lucky nothing serious has happened to Judy yet.

That makeup is unbelievable. My question is do people actually leave those places satisfied with that make-up? I just can't believe women would pay for that makeup, be satisfied and go to an event or something proud of the fact they used their own money to get their makeup to look like that!! I think genuinely these people look at make-up as a way to make extra money from their hair salon, whether they are trained or not. As someone who is incredibly fair, almost pale blue, even in the UK people used to want to darken my skin rather than match it properly, and try to bronze it which makes me look like I have dirt on my face, especially make-up counter girls! If you're lucky you get somebody good at make-up, but at least in the UK these places have very strict hygiene. When I holidayed in Turkey my ex went to a barbers for the full Turkish shave experience and immediately they were like oh we can get a girl to do your nails if you like. I think she was a sister of one of the guys, I was bored waiting so I said yes and it was cheap so she arrived with her personal make-up bag of nail things and filed and painted my nails and told me off where some nails had broken and were shorter. Trust me these people have no issue telling you your flaws! She wasn't a manicurist and It was no better than I would do myself at home, it was just a way to earn some extra cash I guess. If Judy named the places she would destroy their business, nobody would do her make-up, and she could end up facing legal issues if a company got mad. I personally think it is fairer this way. Plus she doesn't need to name them really as if I saw a floor that dirty and a make-up kit that dirty I wouldn't have my make-up done there. I've never booked anywhere I haven't checked out first!

I have never been more appalled by the lack of care someone had when applying your makeup. This was gross, harsh, rude, disrespectful, and above all- entirely too rough. It is extremely dangerous to allow anyone to use makeup previously used on someone else unless they continually use throw away applicators and do not cross contaminate their makeup, which is difficult to do. I’m appalled, as a retired makeup artist I was sickened. He used a soiled towel, and I cannot help but wonder how sanitary the brushes were that he used in the application of the makeup. I would be surprised if you didn’t develop an eye infection. The makeup he used was for brown skinned individuals, not for someone with your complexion. I’m sorry you had that experience. Self taught makeup “artists” so often don’t have the educational background to foster best sanitary practices.
I am a small time MUA and my mom is a retired MUA like you, I always show her these videos. She watches them with her mouth open wide. I do too of course. But the amount of unsanitary practices is unreal. Just when you think it can't get any worse, we're proven wrong.

I’m self taught- color match, clean EVERYTHING.. disposable brushes for lips & mascara, a spatula & plate to scrape bullets & if needed create colors, never use directly from the tube unless it’s new & you GIVE it to your client, I seriously could go on.. but.. having “training” I’m sure you already know. @@kieran3584 I don't think so because some cheap places have been good. I think genuinely these people look at make-up as a way to make extra money from their hair salon, whether they are trained or not. As someone who is incredibly fair, almost pale blue, even in the UK people used to want to darken my skin rather than match it properly, and try to bronze it which makes me look like I have dirt on my face, especially make-up counter girls! If you're lucky you get somebody good at make-up, but at least in the UK these places have very strict hygiene. When I holidayed in Turkey my ex went to a barbers for the full Turkish shave experience and immediately they were like oh we can get a girl to do your nails if you like. I think she was a sister of one of the guys, I was bored waiting so I said yes and it was cheap so she arrived with her personal make-up bag of nail things and filed and painted my nails and told me off where some nails had broken and were shorter. Trust me these people have no issue telling you your flaws! She wasn't a manicurist and It was no better than I would do myself at home, it was just a way to earn some extra cash I guess. If Judy named the places she would destroy their business, nobody would do her make-up, and she could end up facing legal issues if a company got mad. I personally think it is fairer this way. Plus she doesn't need to name them really as if I saw a floor that dirty and a make-up kit that dirty I wouldn't have my make-up done there. I've never booked anywhere I haven't checked out first!

I have never been more appalled by the lack of care someone had when applying your makeup. This was gross, harsh, rude, disrespectful, and above all- entirely too rough. You mentioned the towel and products placed near your eye, but the dudes dirty fingernails never even earned a mention. Oof. Please be kind to yourself. It is extremely dangerous to allow anyone to use makeup previously used on someone else unless they continually use throw away applicators and do not cross contaminate their makeup, which is difficult to do. It truly is dangerous, you can catch or pass on numerous things. I wouldn't let any of that stuff seen in this video come near me.

I’m appalled, as a retired makeup artist I was sickened. He used a soiled towel, and I cannot help but wonder how sanitary the brushes were that he used in the application of the makeup. I would be surprised if you didn’t develop an eye infection. The makeup he used was for brown skinned individuals, not for someone with your complexion. I’m sorry you had that experience. Self taught makeup “artists” so often don’t have the educational background to foster best sanitary practices.

I’m self taught- color match, clean EVERYTHING.. disposable brushes for lips & mascara, a spatula & plate to scrape bullets & if needed create colors, never use directly from the tube unless it’s new & you GIVE it to your client, I seriously could go on.. but.. having “training” I’m sure you already know. But on another note- I’d like to NOT be placed in the same classification as this sassy man who improperly applied “basics.” K? Thaaaanks🤗
