I love seeing David again-it's been decades! It's sweet that he said he suggested Rob Mounsey for "Walking Man"...but that album was recorded in early '74, and Rob didn't show up in New York until June of 1976, when he came to town from Boston with a new RCA artist named Ralph Graham. I know this because I worked in Pop A&R at RCA, and ended up dating Rob for six months or so.

Being a JT, Carly Simon and Paul Simon fan I got familiar with David Spinozza in the 70s. I love his playing and I got that 1978 Spinozza vinyl record. It's awesome! Later he worked with another one of my favorites, Kenny Rankin, on an album I love,"Song for you". Recently I saw him on youtube playing with Steve Gadd Band. He's a fabulous guitar player. Greetings from Portugal.

@@HenryHeymusic No doubt about it! By the way what's the name of the Dr.John song where David played that solo? Thank you!

Thanks so much! This was awesome. I actually went to Mamaroneck High School with David. His band was always better than my band, The Specs. We all knew he was going to be huge in the music business and I’m glad he has a great career. So much great music. Love it.

Amazing interview! I know about David's work on Ram, but I never looked at the linear notes for Walking Man by James Taylor. One of my favorite James Taylor records. And the fact that he also idolized & worked with James Brown makes sense. You know what Ram & Walking Man have that other rock guys of that era? (Early 70's). Groove!! Those records have groove. Man, thanks for this.

I discovered D. Spin. on a Herbie Mann L.P. titled "PUSH PUSH," circa 1972. He was featured on the 'Man's Hope' song. Give it a listen. You won't be disappointed for the next 7 minutes.
