King Gong? Make sure you have a lot of gigs under your belt before you try it. I have known acts do it after only a few gigs, have a bad experience, and be put off stand-up for good.
oh really? I can handle bad.. you can't really grow without the bad.. I have like 2 open mics under my belt.. im hoping to do one in manchester soon :)
Ah, I would definitely recommend you get a lot more gigs under your belt before you give it a go, then! In terms of growing, you can't really grow that much if you do 10 seconds and get gonged off, which is what happens to the vast majority of acts who try and do the gong show too early. I'd advise focusing on "normal" gigs, nailing them, and then stepping up to the gong when you feel ready. But that's just me! Best of luck with it all. :)
Take the advice Momo. You may be a natural and do well or more likely is you will not do so well and think you are rubbish when in reality you did it too soon. Get good at regular open mics and work on a killer 5 mins then take a polished set to the gong shows. Beat the frog at the frog and bucket is a gong show that is easier so try that first.
That was brilliant! Just out of interest, are you the same Tom Mayhew who used to text in to the Russell Howard and Jon Richardson show, and Jon kept replacing your name with Kate Addie on the podcasts?

Thanks very much! :) There were *a lot* of genuine nerves in this performance; it's the most nervous I've felt for a gig in around 18 months!
