Reapers is probably my fav track on Drones! Some other bangers on that album! My favourite is probably Stockholm Syndrome though it's tough to pick one from such an extensive back catalogue?! Bliss. Butterflies and Hurricanes, Knights of Cydonia, Plug in Baby, City of Delusion, The Resistance.. plenty more worth checking out!
I love when you paused it on the pedal by chance. Right as he was about to display a part of his genius some fans may not even realize. This performance was quite flawless. Insane! I am bored of this track's studio version at this point, but can listen to any pro-shot live version of it and increase the volume accordingly.
Just to be clear that outro is 100% part of the album track. The producer wanted to bring more of their live energy to one of the tracks and told them to just do what they would do live, and so the outro exists. Honestly I think it's one of the only times we've seen Matt REALLY let loose on a solo. On one hand he usually plays what works and what is needed from a compositional point of view, but I'll admit he holds back on solos like that, even though we've heard him at 18 playing perfect classical/flamenco/blues guitar riffs and solo so it's certainly not beyond him. But who am I to criticise really... He's always doing something interesting and innovative and you gotta respect that.
Based on how much you enjoyed this one, I think you’d also like The Handler from the same show. ua-cam.com/video/sfj4YZRZcIg/v-deo.html It’s audience recorded, but I think it’s the absolute best version I’ve found. Vocals and guitar work are spot on. I can’t imagine why Reapers is the only professionally shot song they’ve released from that gig!
