Hi, my baby is 5 months and 10 days old and she is having cold from last 11 days and dry caugh since a week, she was under medication, n i stopped gvn her medication from last day n gave her steam, and from that the semi liquid from her nose converted to runny nose , and caugh was been the same, and she lost her weight also, she is around 6.5 kgs, is that normal to loose her weight? Please suggest some helpful tips, as it really making me worried.Thank you.
Sri Lekhya, that is normal for the baby to lose weight, due to not being able to eat while sick; however, I would take her back to the pediatrician to make sure that everything is alright.
My experience with my baby: When my 4 month old was sick with a cold at 3 months, I used saline drops, a suction bulb, and also made a pot of chicken and vegetable broth/soup without salt- I gave him about 1 ounce a day. His cold let up around the 3rd day, after I started the chicken and vegetable broth/soup. I'm not trying to suggest this as if I'm a doctor of any kind- I'm just telling you what I incorporated within my baby's cold remedy that worked for him..

@@srilekhya31 I made some homemade soup out of: a whole (organic whole foods) chicken, bell peppers(all colors), celery, white onion, garlic cloves( not the whole/ about 3 pieces).. I removed everything(chicken and vegetable after everything was done), and gave him a half of ounce the first time- to see how well he could take it, and he did fine.
But, you want to make sure that your baby is not allergic to any of these ingredients- so like I stated before, check with your pediatrician on other things that you could do first.. I normally make this for my children when they come down with a cold, and they normally recovers pretty well..
