So I moved to the city, where I actually lived in a burned-out Buick LeSabre for a while. Which was okay. That was okay. Cody Brown it's all relative..people in ghettos say it too..because the place fosters circumstances and lifestyles some are cliche. stereotypes that some buffoons can't wait to validate. the only people really lived there are semetic people in Nazi germany. they can be the most offended by this term. I like to point out what I consider ghetto to resist the spread of it..because it can quickly spread to any community like a disease..a social disease and even effect those who care most, it what happens when mercenaries are your government, and doing the bare minimum service to the public. this is not inherently a "race" problem like some presume this is a fiscal and social economic.. cultural problem. the characters are delusional and spoiled insensitive but the gentrifying one is almost realistic..don't do it.l lightly..accept the fate that ghetto life is different than yours and be thankful for that and hopeful that those crabs in than barrel who don't want it can escape with their souls intact.this not to say nothing good in ghettos..people are there and people always have greatness in their realm. great beauty and art but very often not worth dealing with everything else mostly. lots of undiagnosed illness and problems. injustice and opportunity drought.never glorify this kind of settlement.you don't know who's child your hurting by desensitizing. dont try to help the ghetto ppl if you don't know them or not good at reading people. overall though.. one man's ghetto is another man's glade.yes I invent.lame knockoff expressions.

      MachiavelliImmortal I disagree that weaves are "ghetto". I dont personally like them on me, but I dont judge anyone who wears them. They're just accessories. If weaves are "ghetto" them so is makeup, hair dye, and everything else that is unnatural and cosmetic. Also, you're using the word ghetto incorrectly. Ghetto describes a place, not a person or their appearance. What you mean to say is trashy. But you're still wrong.

    This is good. They all have that horrible white girl baby voice. It's a descendent from Valley Girl. I was subjected to the Bachelor or some such show and they all had that voice. What is it?

      I've done a good amount of background actor work...we don't really say anything, we just mime talking. It's actually written into contracts that we can't say any audible words or interact with the principal actors at all. Wish I had a more interesting answer for you lol.

      @@AshleyWool - do you get paid? do you get to meet the actors/actresses?

    • @AshleyWool
      @AshleyWool 5 років тому +5

      Yes, you do get paid. You don't really get to meet the principal actors, though. Film schedules are tight and busy and have a lot going on and it's not really an appropriate environment to approach someone as a fan. The general rule is you can't approach or talk to them unless they talk to you first--which they might. But usually there's no reason to talk to them anyway; even if they aren't filming they need to stay where they are and stay focused.

      @@AshleyWool - how can I become an extra? How much money and time do you have to work?

    • @AshleyWool
      @AshleyWool 5 років тому +3

      The downsides:
      -It isn't a lot of money--nonunion scale in the NYC area is around $100 a day (a day being eight hours), which is around minimum wage. It's a bit higher for SAG-AFTRA members but I wouldn't recommend trying to join unless you end up booking a ton of background work and/or you want to be a serious actor.
      -Like all other acting gigs, it isn't very consistent work that you can rely on to make a living.
      -Background casting usually happens with a few days' notice and does not usually happen on weekends, so if you have a regular day job, it's not something you'll just be able to do on the side unless you have a weekday off that you can fully dedicate to the shoot.
      -You won't know your call time or location (other than a general area) until, typically, the night before. Sometimes it's crazy early or late. You can't really make any other plans for that day.
      -Unless it's a period piece, you'll often have to bring your own clothes and might have to bring several options, and you won't get paid any extra for that.
      The upsides:
      -If you live in NY, LA, Atlanta, or another major metropolitan area, there will always be background work available. So if you get a random day off, just submit for all the projects shooting that day and see if the phone rings!
      -You almost always get free meals and usually in my experience the food is great.
      -Depending on production needs, you don't always have to stay the full duration of the shoot but you'll still get paid for a full day. One time I worked on an episode of SVU that kept me for less than two hours.
      -You'll get a whole new perspective on how films and TV shows are made, which is fascinating in itself whether or not you want to go into it professionally.
      -You'll get your hair and makeup done, and sometimes you'll get cool costumes. This is not only fun but a good way to get to know makeup artists and costume designers.
      -There's a lot of downtime. Bring a good book. You're getting paid to read it.
      How to do it:
      -Register with Central Casting. Get a profile on Casting Networks or Actors Access.
