03:05 - The amount of rework and reinforcements to that fuselage (on top of the "Lufthansa" logo, and over and under the passenger windows) makes one think of the amount of punishment this airplane suffered over the decades.
Great video ! I´ve had the chance to record her last commercial arrivals at Frankfurt with passengers, a very special moment after so many years in service ! :(
Lufthansa was the world's first 737 operator back in 1967...so sad to see the original operator retire the fleet. It would be quite emotional, but just being there for the event and filming it for us was fantastic. Thanks Daniel, and if you're ever in Canada one day-please stop by Ottawa!
If airplanes had a soul, this one's would be larger than all outdoors. I love the 73x series, and always will prefer them. Thank you for this tribute to a simply magnificent airship.
Even now, 48 years later the plane still looks like it's new. Give the compliments to Boeing or the Germans for the maintence, i'm 100% sure a A320 will fall apart after 48 years.
I am not, A320 is good plane, if maintained well it will have long and prosper active life, like every other plane, and beside 737-300 in Lufthansa were delivered and start active service between 1989 to 1994,
No tears , well perhaps yes . A stunning craft . By now you might have a glimps that I’m not young (75) & travelling by air for me began when propellers were used . I was 9 , flying took three weeks from London to Singapore then stopping at parts of India to re fuel . Then so elegant & roomy . Aircraft are Beautiful. Appreciate all the information reg air miles Dan .
TC The Pilot I'm frankly surprised that these weren't phased out 20 years ago let alone still flying in 2016. This must have been a spare jet since most passenger 737-300s reached their flight cycle limits 10-15 years ago.
BewareTheIdes Well, this one is 25 years old, so depending on the amount of cycles, it still has useful life left in it. Heck, there are still a few -200's flying across the world.
bristar3004 Yeah, and most of those were/are spare jets, private jets, or freighters. Age has little to do with the lifespan of a fuselage. It is all about the pressurization cycles. Which is why the US president is still flying around in a nearly 30 year old 747-200 while every major commercial airline and freighter line put them up for scrap more than a decade ago.
The last time i flew on a Lufthansa Boeing 737-300 was four years ago (2012) from Frankfurt to Bucharest. I honestly love the 733's, but the seats were uncomfortable for me. All i can say right now is that I'm so glad i have flown on them and will remember the experience. Great video, very emotional.
I'm flying 737-300s/-400s, it's a great airplane. The first airliner that I have flown that feels and flies great, I'll miss it when I move on. Great video....
As a Lufthansa customer, I've been waiting for this day for a long time. I really don't like flying on the old 737s. But now that it's gone, I feel sad.
Tolles video!! Yes, as usual a lovely video, very nicely put together..Thank You! Very sad and somewhat shocking to see the 737 leave the Lufthansa fleet.. I love the proportions of the -300, and I am impressed at how smooth a take off can still be in a well kept Classic..so different than on the old -200..! I also can't help but notice how much more graceful the stewardess wearing the yellow uniform is in comparison to the contemporary blue ones..Again, thank you Dan und herzliche Gruesse!
Good-bye and "Auf Wiedersehen"´, my dear friend! I've come to know you and appreciate you from day one. Shrug off the names some have called you. Your top range may have eaqualed your max speeds, but you have won my heart the moment you allowed me to be your guest as a kid, having the privilege to enjoy jumpseatrides (thanks to generous crews, the gate-keepers, that I've admired so much - to me, they were no less of an authority than those who took the 74 across continents and seas) to the time I was given the opportunity to fire your CFMs up myself. Thank you for many decades of giving us a safe home in the skies. Thanks, Daniel, for your compassion.
Thanks for sharing this with us. You seemed to be really emotional during the last take-off. But you can still fly B737's, there are so many other airnlines flying them.
Der einleitende Kommentar scheint mir von jener Sinnfreiheit zu sein, wie ihn die heutige junge Generation nun einmal pflegt, aber gut, das ist wohlmder Geist der Zeit - Selbstdarstellung um jeden Preis. This is the opinion of someone that has already flown in the original Bobbies. I always liked the thoroughbred 737, particularly when the re-engined variants with the CFMs appeared. These were grossly overpowered machines that would send you rocketing skywards from the shortest of runways. And it is of course sad to see the 737 go from the launching customer - always bear in mind that that there would be no 737 without Lufthansa's order back in the 1960ies, one of the most successful airliners ever built.
I remember my LAST 727 flight was in December 2001 on ATA CUN-CLE. Last 737-200 was in May 2005 or 2006 on Delta going back to College from MIA-CVG Coming from a From an excellent Fishing and Fun Memorial Trip to the Keys, we blew through 5 cases of Perrierr Jouet Champagne, untold amounts of other liquors and intoxicants.
Bull Bosphorus Exactly what I thought too. This must have been a spare jet for Lufthansa since most passenger 737-300s reached their flight cycle limit 10-15 years ago.
They had them and started taking them out of service some years ago and now the last one is gone. Now Lufthansa will also start taking out their A340-300 fleet which will be replaced by the A350s this year and then their 747-400 and the A340-600 fleet will be replaced by the 747-8 and the 777-9 in 2020
Dinklebr0t Most airlines already cancelled their 747-8 orders. They are all pretty much opting for the significantly cheaper per seat cost of the 777-9X. The jumbo is dying off. And, I suspect most future orders of the 747-8 will be for only the freighter variant.
Yeah I misread that. Lufthansa already has 19 747-8 tho and has options on 20 more. but as you said they might wont use them as they already ordered 34 777-9.
I will miss the4 B737-300 a lot, flew so much with them . prefer that small plane to fly around Europe than that flying piece of plastic called Airbus. Boeing Forever
So sad, but understandable. As a pilot I'm always watching how the aircraft manufacturers do things. It seems very much that Airbus is beating Boeing by a wide margin in development. 787 is a great example, turning out to be a good A/C, but all the problems it had in it's rollout. Just seems that Airbus is more in front. MHO

Personally I don’t like the A320 it looks weird some people may disagree but this is my personal preference
FSXNOOB, right on. First Bobby delivered to LH in 1968 and it is STILL a handsome aircraft!

I'm flying 737-300s/-400s, it's a great airplane. The first airliner that I have flown that feels and flies great, I'll miss it when I move on. Great video....
Loved that wing view, very special aircraft. Farewell Bobby!

Awesome video. But I really miss flying on the old 737-200.
Thanks for doing such a great job covering this!

No frame rate or stuttering issues with this aircraft then?
Great video Dan! A sad day as another classic is being retired but I guess that's life.. out with the old and in with the new.
Miss the 737-300 and 737-200 so much. Were the best planes i flew in the 70's and 80's
Can't help with dem feels... If I were there I'd probably cry already.
Thanks, neat trailing edge flap shots... 'Dated' is nearly always never negative :-)
Many happy flights on the 733. My last one was on Go!
Love it, love it, LOVE IT! You have such great videos!!
die B 737 war mal mein zweites Wohnzimmer. "Hunderte" Flüge in der businessclass in den 90iger Jahren. Wieder ein wehmütiger Aschied!

Aww. That is cute.
"classic" 737's are the best!! such a handsome aircraft....perfect exterior proportions, unlike the odd looking narrow body airbus jets.
Sad but awesome
so it's that only plane going away? bobby ur name is beast we won't forget u farewell buddy
Nice video, R.I.P Lufthansa 737's.
That's so weird. I went on a 737-300 back in June and it had winglets. Then again it was Southwest.
Blau winglets is a retrofit option.
I know, but don't you think that airlines would do the same that have the -300?
Blau all 737-300s don't have winglets. You probably went on a -800
No, it was a -300. I have a picture proof aswell! instagram.com/p/BH8mqJJgnRI/?taken-by=officialblautv
Some 737CL were retrofited with winglets. Some 737-200 were also retrofited with a wierd winglet..
nice video flying with lufthansa

eine Frage wird jetzt nur die 737-300 abgeschafft oder auch die 737-800?
I think Peruvian Airlines has acquired some of these planes.
Yes Keep the safety card no one I know ever reads them until the captain says brace and then they all say damn why hadn't I read it before.
(I am sorry I am American) but do you need a passport to travel around europe or do you treat it like states?

I saw post about this on Facebook and it said "rip Lufthansa 737" and scared me so much cuz I thought it crashed!
Hey Daniel, what country are you from? :)

Built better yet more prone to breakage and accident?
built better? That's a myth.

do they put the 737300 in a museum or sell it?
an wen?
Do they still have 737-700 etc or does Lufthansa not run bigger 737s
Dude Amazing They don't operate any 737 NGs. The only Boeings they still operate are 747 and they have 777 on order. The rest are Airbus planes.
That's sun express (airline joint-venture between lufthansa and turkish)
Why did I almost cry?
Last flight was LH153 NUEFRA & callsign BOBBY1.
Which country are you from?
I don't know why so many A320s are being ordered, 737 is a better aircraft. A321 I'm okay with, but A320 ? No!
Steve Rogers Many airlines think different.
And why do you think so?
Bye Bobby! You served well.
What's the name of the first song ?
Where are you from?
The hostess in the yellow would bang like a barn door
And Lufthansa seats have hardly changed. They really have not invested in passenger comfort
SO sad to see another aircraft taken out of service, I wonder if this B737 taken over by another company or its been sent to Arizona for scrap
