As someone who's getting Champ every season while having absolutely NO MECHANICS at all, his decision making pained me, but at the same time, his mechanics pained me in a different way, GODDAYUM THOSE AIR DRIBBLES WERE CLEAN
Thats me I am hardstuck in C2/C3 his mechanics are far better than mine but my god his overall gameplay makes me want to slit my wrists. Sure I am stuck coz my mechanics are not up there and he is stuck coz his game sense is aweful, only difference is I am stuck in Champ and he is stuck in Dia....

@@andrebaumann8023 Airdribble is not about how often you touch the ball but how you carry and control it. In his case he carried and controlled it very well for a Dia. Not to forget how often dias and champs alike loose control while in the air or are incapeable to change direction and carry the ball to nonuseful place or screw the setup not even getting into a decent carry. Sure his Airdribbles are not proffessional yet still for his rank and the rank above very clean.

I'm C2 in both 2s and 3s and this guy has infinitely better mechanics than me. His game sense needs a lot of work though, if he improves on that he's easily got the mechanical ability to be GC

im the opposite, mechanically i suck not at aerial or dribbling i just suck at air dribbles and fancy stuff but at rotating and positioning i think im rlly good

I feel like my cousin should be put through one of these tests. He dominates and 2v1s with me, a gold that struggles to stay in gold against high plat, low diamond and even high diamond teams depending on the day and he has most of those mechs ingrained into his gameplay
If he’s gold, he definitely doesn’t deserve higher, that’s just a skill issue. In most ranks it’s just ball chasing especially in dimond and lower, if he’s unable to negate that ball chasing in such low ranks he definitely doesn’t deserve to be higher

As someone who has hit gc and done the the unthinkable dirtbag act of playing on a different account, I can confirm that being better than people in 2s can be completely negated by a teammate that doesn't play properly.
I think it's harder to play with bad team mates against diamonds than it is to play against champ 2s or GC. I've beat GCS in private matches where I was the only diamond and I wasn't carried. Yet I find diamond solo cue 2s harder than playing against GC 2s because you can't anticipate the kind of things a bad team mate will do. That's why it's so hard.

Just adapt. I’m gc1 and when I got my pc to rank up I got to gc within a couple days with like 2 losses. Just adapt.

This is a display of why you should learn the game and basics long long before you grind flashy mechanics. His mechanics say GC but his game sense says and understanding the game says Diamond all the way. I am sure any Dia will have trouble with him but a seasoned champ will outplay him just with simple basics like patience, choosing when and when not to go, positioning and straight on target powershots. This chap will learn sooner or later but until then this is not the kinda teammate I want in my team when playing like C2 and from my point of view his mechanics to not overrule his lack of game sense therefore he is Dia and also belongs there because there is more to the game than flashy mechanics and he needs to learn this lesson first before he can advance.
Yeah I've been high champ for many seasons just off of game sense and positioning. I can barely air dribble, double taps are kinda sketch and I 100% can't flip reset. Yet I'm positive I can thrash him and many others like him even in champ ranks because decision making and shot accuracy/power is superior. You can make it to GC off of just the basics and reading the game to a very high level.
I'm a Diamond, and yet I can't do any of the mechanical stuff he can (I can barely even air roll).
My decision making and my game sense carries me, however, and it infuriates me when I get teammates that have no game sense at all, and yet insist on ballchasing just to try an air dribble on every chance they get.
I'm diamond I'm not mechanically good and my positioning is questionable. I have good kickoff and powers shots that's it. Any game sense tips
@@galaxydude-gaming1549 Gamesense is more an overall term. A combinitation of the theoretical part within the game. Awareness of the pitch overall, knowing where your mates are where the opponent is, when to boom or when to slow down, when to go or when to leave the ball. when to position yourself for a pass or when to rather cover your mate. I would want to say that gamessense is something that grows over time and experience and is nothing you can teach with a tips and tricks video but if I had to say anything I would say watch your own replays and if possible with someone in a higher rank to point out where your sense failed. The best teacher is a mistake but you can ony learn from mistakes when you actually realise the mistake and know why it was a mistake.

Double taps are easy if you do light touch off the wall then hard touch to get it to the back board, then another to finish the shot

I really like that he gets the soft touch for controlling an air dribble. For Double Taps, you want you first touch to be a bit harder, then get one touch to push it to the backboard, or if you keep it really close, push the ball to well over the backboard, and then pull off the ball and get ready for the read with some space from the backboard. My advice for everything else you need to work on. Play 1s for 2 days. and put in 3 or 4 hours each day. go back to 2s and you'll realize what it takes to not get scored on. I feel the thing thats stopping him from advancing is his defense. He may be quick off the mark but the decision making isnt up to par. Also, when he is given time to defend he is hesitating.

This is the case of way too much time in freeplay and not playing actual matches or even casual matches to be able to read other players better
Aside from all the crap that he can do Mechanics wise (Wave dash, Flip Resets, Wall Dribbles, etc.), Game Sense, Positioning, Ball Reading, Rotation, No double committing, Knowing how to kick off, Being aware of your surroundings, No chasing, forgetting about the big pads for boost and learning how to do with pennies, Patience, and not losing moral are far way more important things than all he can show off in this video. His problem is that he saw these mechanics and completely did not care about the fundamentals and because he can do those while at diamond, he believes he is the best and not for anything else.
Further showing you can get to GC with no mechs just having great shooting, game sense, and game sense, but just having great mechs is not an instant ticket to GC or even Champ sometimes.

ApparentlyJack and WondaMike and countless other pros have said all the lower ranks have no mechanics no exceptions, so you are disagreeing with them, and rightfully so.
But nobody teaches how to do that stuff without contradicting themselves.
Im a casual D2-D3 that regularly beats people like him if I’m on my A-game and my mechs are not on his level. I can get to the ball just as fast it just may not be as pretty.

Next his flicks ? He cant flick ball it means He cant dribble if he cant setup ball. His air drible decent because he only training it at freeplay like every other diamond. He cant speedflip isnt correct as u can see at kickofs. Yeah thats all i think

I just started playing the game like 4 months ago. So far I’ve been able to stay consistent in diamond 2 for 2s and plat 3div 4 for 1s. I love playing against really good players. I was wondering if we could do like a 1v1 or something. I wanna see how far the skill ceiling is from diamond to champ or gc? If anyone is down let me know.

I’m barely c2 on a good day and have literally never hit a good reset and this guy’s damn near consistent. Sure he might not be the best ones player out there with his slightly ambitious aerials, but I wouldn’t mind having these mechy tm8s that let u play back a bit and watch the show

What's crazy is I have a very similar play style to him and just got into champ and hover around champ 2. I started focusing on gamesense and not going for every ball that was in the air just like you stated at the end of the video and my rank started shooting up.
At times I feel like I'm flakes cuz I fake challenge a lot and Shadow but it works lol
yeah honestly so many players could benefit from just being more patient. not slow or passive, just patient. Especially if you're as mechanical as the diamond in the video and also in high/low champ. So many players make MASSIVE mistakes that can be easily punished with being smart sometimes

@@CBellRLI tried being more patient and ranked down. I get to peak rank by mixing up going early or being patient to be unpredictable. I've watched hundreds of hours if tutorials and sometimes you people say to be fast and sometimes say to be patient and all you do is tell people to do the opposite of what their playstyle already is which isn't useful. The guy who said it helped is gonna have to start speeding up again once he plateaus.
The kid is definitely good at the game and better than most but people don’t realize you can be as mechanical as you want but if you don’t have the game sense and good decision making you aren’t gonna go anywhere. Obviously that just comes with time and experience
the thing is, if he gets a couple coaching sessions or replay reviews, he could get high champ or gc within a season imo
Exactly, I've practiced mechs for about 1700 hours (w 600 in comp) and they make near to no difference, it's all about game sense

No one plays as a team anymore, it’s just solo plays and insta challenging. Not about game sense nor mechs anymore, it’s just who faster and brainless

I have been hard stuck Diamond for a while now and I have peaked at Champ 1. As a diamond 3, I can see the inconsistency in my opponent’s in the sense that one game I feel like I have GCs I’m playing and other games it feels like I’m playing Golds. That’s exactly how I feel! In GC or even high champ lobbies, everyone is more consistent with what they can do (they can mostly do the same stuff as well as the others,) but in diamond you never know how the other team is going to play. One game you get good diamonds who are flip resetting over your head, hitting every single aerial. Then the next game, you play some way worse diamonds that barely hit any of their aerials. But, you are expecting them to hit their aerials, so you go back and defend, but then they miss. It is impossible to get used to any style of play in diamond since every single game you are playing people with a completely different play style. This is why many diamonds have experienced beating a good diamond, then losing to a very bad one because their play style is so different. This is what’s most frustrating about diamond.

Hey @CBell, I think I can be the better diamond, however my mechanics are really horrible but my abilities to think and rotate are way better. I'm only d2 in 2v2s and I've been in plat for so long, but I probably can win but you never know it could go both sides.
Having good mechanics are important, but having the abitlity to have game sense is also really important
All i gotta say is same bro same
What happens to me is I get diamond 2 / diamond 3 in my placements and I get champ after a couple of weeks or a month but I never get champ 2 then I stop playing which throws me off and then I just keep doing the same again and make no progression. The only problem is though, that I cant stop going off the game after a while because all my friends stop playing it and I want to have fun with them instead of just being alone all the time on rocket league. Also I’m a higher rank than all of them and when I’m champ and they’re diamond it really makes me need to carry the game since some aspects of the game they’re not very good at like airdribbles rotations positioning and directed aerials which is a bit annoying because they’re not at the same level as any of my opponents.
We need a diamond tourney with best diamond commenters taking part and winner faces the diamond in the video

Its so funny for me to see how mechanical these diamonds can be! I can't do half of his mechanics - but I have a very good rotation, situational awareness and really good speed and I am high Champ 2 - Champ 3... but I DREAM of being able to air dribble like this dude!

I placed plat 1 this season but used to be plat 3 i think I should be in diamond 2- champ 1 cause I can do aerials pretty well and cause double reset, air dribble, bounce dribble, ceiling shots, ground pinches, and resets insanely well for a plat

His mechs are probably better than most champs, if he improves his game sense and decision making he could reach GC. Also maybe revisite some basics like strong, accurate shots, defensive skills and 50:50s.

I peaked at c3 in 1s when I was playing serious, but when I started to only play to improve my mechanics going for risky plays, messing up all the time, I went down all the way to d3 and there are so many people who could easily be in c3 if they wouldn't just try to flip reset double tap on you all the time.

I figured it was sheluvsiann from the impostor round. Someone who's doing bad at everything might just be camera-shy or having an off day, but someone who's making good attacks and is unconvincing at everything else is the kind of mechy aggro player I'd expect.
I can beat the diamond player, I don't think in mechanics, but I could in game sense and with the challenges you put him up against. I got the champ season rewards, but I classify myself as diamond.

I agree. He has the mechanical skill of most GCs but the game sense and decision making is still down in the Diamond rank. Once he practices those two things a little, I have no doubt he will fly through Champ and into GC. Best of luck to him.

This proves that if your mechanics are good but you are low rank that means your positioning, rotation etc are bad

I feel this Diamond's pain. I've been hardstuck in C1-C2 for about a year and a half. My mechanics are decent, but i feel like my rotations and game sense are my best attributes. And, I'm improving across the board every month.
I play against GC and SSL(occasionally) in casual all the time, and play just fine, but no matter how well i play in rank, i can't seem to get out of Champ. 😢
Think it's cause when in casual you have user rank tm8 they make less mistakes and seem so good but in rank you play with people whoa rnet even close to that level and sometimes they just are realy bad

@colinfennell6006 I prob have more faith in my teammates than I should. A lot of people spend too much time practicing offense. Their defense isn't that great. Or, a lot of times, they try and make the solo play instead of passing.
It's not every time, but it happens often. I've Solo Q'd for 99% of the games I've played over 5 years. I play to my teammates styles since I know what I'm doing. It's frustrating is all...
@TheSaiyanRace yeah I keep up with Champs when I'm diamond w because either put alot of faith in tm8s and they sometimes whiff and we get scored on alot but alot of times my tm8 arnet that bad they make alot of mistakes unlike Champs but I guess it alr that's why I play casuals more
Got same problem as this guy, im mechy asf (double/triple resets, double taps, ceiling shots, almost any mechanic) but still hardstuck diamond peaked c1 and its almost always because of teamates just throwing, missing, no saving stuff and just being incompetent.

The gameplay from him, but it looks like his defense could use a lot of work and rotation. He’s most definitely way better than I am as far as mechanics go. That’s why I love this game so much! Because there’s so many aspects that can improve your gameplay. I can’t do any mechs really but I focus on heavy team play and just grinding those basic mechs. Great video!!
I think he can work on his ground play too. His carries were pretty wobbly and his bounce dribbles could be better. Just do Dribbling Course 2 4Head and he'll upgrade quick.
And I completely agree, he looked pretty uncomfortable shadow defending. Wonder if he ever tries 1v1s?

Play EXTREMELY defensively and stay grounded unless your opponent puts a shot on net. Get consistent at fast aerials for saves, and saving the ball into your corner.
Let your opponents make the mistakes (double commit/miss open nets), which happens a lot at plat, then capitalize on the counter attack.

Hi Cbell, ive been playing rocket league since early 2016. I do not play much ranked but i always hit a wall around D2/D3 ( even in sideswipe lol ) in 1s/2s when I do ( threes is the worst gamemode ever. ) I feel like I would be able to take Ian on in a 1v1, although his mechanics are clearly very good I think id be a good matchup for Ian. I would love to play some ones games against him and try and take him down!

@@ayezyee it is normal, in EU D3 in 3's is full of champs in 2's, skill level is not the same! I would suggest you just to cover the back until d2 (they do shit rotations), you can win most games just by punishing double commitments :)
yep... I have zero mechanics, bad aim, bad ball control. but im often in champ 1 or champ 2. i know where I'm needed and I try to pass as often as I can
so I have a story, I do think I'm better than this diamond and I'm currently diamond 3 I just got back into rocket league after a break of three years and have been playing everyday for two weeks. I used to be champ when i did play but I'm really not at champ level right now and I think I would give your diamond buddy a run for his money. Love the vids, keep up the good work!

@@BluesyRLfor a diamond yeah and people usually tend to have a higher 2s and 3 rank than 1s rank so could definitely be C2 or higher in 2s or 3s game sense is his issue if he had better game sense he'd already be there his mechanics are great enough not everyone is zen
@@BluesyRL Nah, I mean the mechs are better than mine sure lol (that isn't saying much) just the amount of people I see with potential in my solo queue games that cannot rank up because they tilt their own teammates is insane. And at least from this video it doesn't seem like he the type so I'd like to think he wins the games he should if that makes sense?

Ive been hard stuck diamond in a long time, it would be such a blessing having him as a teammate. I can already see all the link up plays we could create together.
This is why you are in diamond. Just focus on defence and counter attacking. If you can consistently do that, your champ. Nvm the pass plays air dribble and what not. Just hit basic shots, stop going for corner boost, and save the ball

CBell I would love to try one of these challenges , I have about 1900 hours in RL and I’m C2 atm my peak was C3 about 2 years ago . I believe I can’t hit GC due to the ranking system .
It feels like he has decision making of a plat with mechs of GC. Using your team mate to your advantage is key in ranking up and so are fake challenges and going for the ball late rather than early, if the ball looks free and you have team mate behind you then sure go for it otherwise just be patient.
I'm a diamond rn and i think I could beat him, i sometimes break into champ but for the past few months I've been mostly diamond level, I also feel like my best clips are way better than his but I will not lie I am nowhere near as consistent as him
Great tip for him and he has great mechanics but it seams to be that he could improve a lot in flicks, defense and passes, but for sure he is good enough for c1

As a d3, I don’t know if I could beat this guy, but I certainly think he would be the best teammate for me. I got a solo queue teammate to champ because our chem was so good. Turns out I play 10x better with agro teammates who aren’t afraid to solo play.

@@cappaccino4324 Not exactly. This guy was hardstuck D3. I helped him hit champ 1 for the first time, and he really enjoyed being my teammate because I filled in all of his skill gaps
@@cappaccino4324 it’s all about playstyle. My play style is usually about trying to get or maintain possession so that my teammates can make plays on the ball. Since I give my teammates possession a lot, it’s much better to have a teammate who’s put most of their time into offense.

I am silver I don’t know if I am the best probably not, because of my game sense, but I have really good mechanics for a silver and I mostly play in gold lobby’s but I can half flip, speed flip, wave dash, zap dash (sometimes), wall dash and flick (sometimes)
highly doubt you can speed flip, zap dash and wall dash in silver focus on game sense and trust itll improve you way faster

Cbell I feel like I deserve the chance to verse him because I been in diamond for a while now and have good car control and mechs, i see a simalr playstyle from him and me
I feel like I'm in a similar position as he is. My main issue is that I play according to what I expect the opponents to do. I actually end up playing better against high Champs and GCs because their decision making is more predictable, they're just way better and more consistent at those decisions. Meanwhile, I'll challenge an aerial shot in D3, set up perfectly for the block and the opponent just misses the ball, so now we're both just awkwardly in the air for no reason lol
I can attest to your point. I play around 1800-1900 when I am consistently playing rocket league but my mechanics aren't the best. When I smurf and play lower ranks, they decision making is just so unreadable, you will have a lot of people just double committing but it works against me because one guy goes and misses and the second teammate is instantly under the ball chasing and hits it so I end up getting scored on. Higher ranks are consistently easier for me than somewhere around 1400-1500 if they aren't completely terrible.
But trust me, if you are stuck D3 there is a reason to it other than that, try to analyze your vods compared to a high ranked player's vods.

This way of thinking is actually wrong. You have to go up if you are first to defend if he hits you will block and if he doese'nt hit then it may just be because you were up there putting preassure on him making him miss. That is your job as first defender to make the save easier for your mates no matter if your opponent hits or misses. You always have to resepct his shot coz if you don't and he hits a good shot on target it is ultimately your fault for not contesting. It is never a waste when you contest someone that whiffs.
@@reinerhoch1357 Na the problem is that u can't play rocket league without confidence in ur teammate, and as a mechanical player we just know what ball are possible to reach or not and when they miss that's just too confusing, you can't play thinking everybody's gonna miss that's just not possible and that's why there is a lot of player hardstuck like this

i just hit gc2 and this kid has better mechanics than some of my team mates but he has to work on placements and rotation he needs to have trust in his team mates and he needs to have more patience and choosing the right moment to go up for the ball
My mechs suck but since I simply have good game sense I get a coupele free goals every game. I think me and this guy could easily beat a d3 lobby even though I'm plat 3
