@@bobegan2121 Boston and Mitchell are both sure-handed. Everybody misses a pass now and then. Temi was dropping the passes early on, but she is doing better. And believe it or not, some of the misses are Caitlin's fault for throwing off target, long, or into a crowd. Boston and Mitchell are a good part of the reason that Caitlin has those absurdly good assist numbers.
Caitlin is the best passer in the WNBA without a doubt. But nobody is perfect on either end of the pass.

No, it is a "weakness" just not an exploitable one. This is basically when Larry Bird told the defenders that he will get the ball where he was and that he will shoot it in their face. Did so with 2 defenders on him.
CC obviously have the advantage of deciding what she does and the defender can only truly defend it if they have the reflex to react and the speed to keep up. Until then they have to commit which she can exploit.
Brittany is correct about where Caitlin likes to shoot her 3s. When she goes right, she's almost always going straight to the basket. And she's very good at going right. But when she shoots her 3, she's almost always going left. The problem for most defenders, is that you just can't overplay each hand. You have to be able to laterally move side to side to guard Caitlin, plus fight through a screen. That's why she's so tough to guard.
Plus see is really strong going to the rack.
She’s also developed an elite behind the back from right to left so you overplay the right she drives to the left.
AND, CC knows very well what she likes to do, and is undoubtedly working on other moves so you can’t anticipate her moves. Like any really great athlete, she can adapt faster than her competition. So far, despite being mugged, mobbed and trapped for entire games, she’s broken all these records. They are “grown-ass women” and still haven’t figured out how to stop her. Reason? She’s faster, sees things quicker, and is smarter. She out-quicks them consistently and simple tactics will not, and have not worked. She’ll continue to take what you give her, and if you shut that down, she’s got other moves. Adaptation and speed beats simple formulas every time. Just my two cents.

You can't stop her and she's only going to get stronger.
The truth is if CC wanted to score 35 a game all she would have to do is play like she wanted to score. I don't think any defender can stop her and when she gets the same whistle Aja gets she will get another 5-6 points a game at the line. No defender has been able to keep her in check without constantly holding her or body bumping her and for a guard the can really limit their movement. Is Sides actually was a coach this team would be almost unbeatable.
They did that to Allen Iverson. I watched a game of the eventual coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lue who literally held him. The entire game held him. I remember thinking that they held him the whole game and after the game, they said to Allen Lue guarded you really well, and he smiled and chuckled and said he held me the whole game. Truth is Sides just lacks experience. She was placed in a position which is out of her depth. Given who Clark is the league /franchise should’ve paired her with an elite coach …Reeves , Hammond , someone w real experience to maximize Clark’s game.

Yes, CC has her favorite moves. And people know. And she still scores. The floater's been off the past few games, but I LOVED when she broke that out after the break to some success. And I even saw her shoot a fade away mid-range on the side. If she starts mixing it up more and getting those, look out!

Brittney Sykes is the secret weapon of the Mystics. She is super fast and can play above the rim. Caitlin can step back and go to the right just as well. She will take it to the hoop too. Her best skill is her passing. Overplay her and foul out. Everyone tries to cover Caitlin full court. She will rub you off on Boston, Smith and others. Let's say she's having a bad day and she's missing her 3's. Who is guarding Kelsey Mitchell? She is clutch and can bury the 3 as well. Lexie and Damiris Dantas can nail their 3's too. Even Temi started hitting her 3's. Erica Wheeler comes off the bench and can go deep so you really can't continuously double Caitlin.
We like Caitlin anyway and now has the rookie record in points scored and assists for any year in WNBA history. She's fun to watch - so pipe down and give us a break.

Sykes just wants to ride CC's popularity trying to state the obvious. Everyone already knows what Caitlin likes to do, heck, even announcers mention it.
One only needs to see how virtually all W teams have reworked their defenses specifically for CC to know she is way more than a 3 point shooter. The shear amount of resources other teams devote to CC has, across the league, arguably, never been done before. There seems to be a common theme of W head coaches: Stop CC at all costs. What makes CC so difficult to defend against is that she has the full spectrum of scoring/skills options that she can unleash, an unparalleled passing ability and situational awareness bar none. CC still has an untempered, at times chaotic and raw aspect to her. She is still very young. If CC stays on her current trajectory and gets a couple of more years under her belt, and the turnovers come down, "goat" will no longer be hyperbole.

She leads the league, THE LEAGUE (not just rookies), in assists. She leads the league in 3-pointers, she leads the league in unassisted points, she leads the league in combined scoring. And she has the most points scored by a rookie in their rookie season. She is NOT easy to stop!
Clark keeps adding to her game! She learned how these teams guard her and she adjusted. Players should simply respect what she does on the court and has accomplished for her team and individually this season! Pretending CC isn’t exceptional is a disingenuous game not commentary on basketball!

I agree. Caitlin will be even better next season, which should be terrifying to opposing teams. There’s no doubt she’ll be working on her weaknesses during the off season. The Fever better do all they can to keep Kelsey. She and Caitlin are my Splash Sisters.

95% of the WNBA cannot make a layup on the left side of the rim with only using their left hand. Most all men and women basketball players have a dominant side and a weak side. A proper defensive posture is force the player towards their weak side. CC is a bad defensive player. Love her but I can admit this. She just never works on it. She over exaggerates her defender weak side defense to her advantage. That is one thing she does correct on defense.
Shes ok off ball but no her defense is rough at times.

What I noticed, the other day, on one of the Fever fast breaks .. which usually starts at the opposition's free throw line .. Caitlan doesn't run down the floor, wide open .. but just pretty fast, completely under control fast, .. but, this is fast enough to deny the opposition to really get to the places that they'd like to be at, .. or not giving them enough to think about what to do. A team can have a good defense .. but, if they are struggling to arrive to defend the basket, in time, .. does a good defense matter?

Should the Fever play their best or rest their starters for the Mystics? The Dream plays the Sky so something has to give for the 8th playoff spot. If the Mystics were to win it would not help the Sky's chances. The first two games go to the top 4 seeds home court. If they split a deciding final game is played in Indy. The next and final series are best of five. Higher seed first game at home then next two at Indy. Final 2 at higher seed.
