  • In this video dominant sources of errors in band-gap circuits are considered. Primary focus is on errors caused by process variations and local random mismatch. Some circuit techniques to reduce these errors are also discussed.

    I just wanted to know you mentioned local MC, do we check across different process (ff, ss, tt, etc) this local Mc?

      Yes, each corner usually have local monte carlo defined with it. On the top of that there may also be global + local variation file, which is not corner specific but varies process from run to run and also applies local mismatch in each run.

    Does it matter where we take the BG out @Drain of M1 or M2?
    If I take at drain of M2 and add more cap there I can make positive fb lower bw which will be helpful I am assuming.
    But wanted to understand what is typically done and why?

    Nicely explained....Instead of using opamp to maintain two nodes equal,can we go with cascoded current source structure to maintain two node equal...what is the disadvantage on using cascoded structure over opamp???

      Yes, cascoded current source structure can also be used to equalize diode nodes.
      There are couple of disadvantages of doing this:
      1. It requires higher supply voltages usually > 2V
      2. PSR is limited by current mirror
      On the positive side, this structure potentially consumes lower current (no amplifier), potentially lower area (no frequency compensation) and potentially simpler to design.
