My face lights up when I see a new video from you :). I am expecting - due in April baby #5. I think I’ve mentioned this before , I am a trad catholic so yes we differ on “religion”. But in reality- we are so much alike with so many similar values and routines. Love your content - warm and cozy!
I think for me this is the beauty of this channel, people with often wildly differing lives finding comfort and joy in the commonality of their experiences.
I,too, like to start my day with hot tea. I have a collection of Belleek teapots, cups and saucers. Belleek is a type of china that is made in one factory in Ireland. I’ve been collecting it for many years. Several of the pieces I have are over 125 years old! It just feels like I’m treating myself whenever I use it.
As soon I awake, I thank God for the coming day and the gift of life, and then I read a Psalm. After that shower and dress; make my bed, then I have breakfast with a cup of tea. Read a Bible chapter or two. Say my “before work” prayers which are verses written out on cards I made and help me to keep serving others at the forefront of my mind throughout the day. And then I feel refreshed and ready for a busy day. 😀 ☀️ You have a great and very positive morning routine Chana. No wonder you are able to get so much done!
Do you ever have a girls night out where you might go to a friends house and get together just with women for tea and torah or game night or out to eat at a kosher restaurant. I love doing these where I might go to a chabad for torah and tea or get together with baking something or with my mom friends we pick what we are doing each month. sometimes paint night or game night or out to eat.
My morning routine is pretty standard & boring. I really need to work some kind of "self-care" into my morning, but it can be really difficult to convince myself that it's ok to have me-time before I start taking care of everyone else's needs. I like having a to do list, but I've found that I prefer to cross off the items on it rather than erasing them. Otherwise I get to the end of the day and feel like I've not really accomplished anything (even though I've done a lot). I like being able to see a visual reminder of all the "to do" items that I did.
Now that I'm nearly fully mended and healthy I'm enjoying being up before my husband. I get my cup if coffee and sit and browse my computer and wait for the squirrels to come begging at my window. Then I start to think about what I can surprise my husband with for breakfast. Yesterday it was bacon (I know - sorry 😬) and Kodiak pancakes made the extra protein way. He was overjoyed and very grateful.
Thanks for sharing. Found your videos by searching about head covering. I’m not a Jew but do the hand washing ritual on Shabbat. Didn’t know you can do it every day. You just inspired me to read through the prophets. I’ve been learning the Torah since July 2020 and studying Parashot every week and my life has changed but left out other books. Thanks again. Shalom
I start my day with my coffee. I do my morning prayers and meditations in my siddur. I set my clothes out the night before. Getting my prayers and meditations done helps me start my day off right. I go and say hi to my mom since I live with her.I dome morning medications that I need to take every morning. After my first class I will do the rest of my morning medications and do my daily face washing. I enjoy my coffee during classes in the morning. I do my Hebrew and Judaics with my Cantor from my shul on Tuesday afternoons.
It depends on whether I have to work or not the night before if I have to work I get all my stuff clothes food drinks etc. Right now I am out of a job because the company I worked for closed like less than a month ago. I was there for 9 months. I am so sad but I love watching your videos and your routine videos!!!!!!
You have the best morning routine. Most that I see are hit the ground running. Yours is a gentle way to start the day. I really enjoyed watching. For me I make up my bed, unload the dishwasher, drink coffee, read my Bible, and do some type of stretching. That helps get me going and set the day.
Thank you Katherine! It’s funny I always feel like I do hit the ground running, but you’re right it’s a gentle hit the ground running. I pop out of bed as soon as I wake up, but I do take a lot of time to do my things and gently start my day.
I go on a walk every morning after I have breakfast and get dressed. It’s only twenty minutes, but I find if I don’t do my day just isn’t as good. Movement is key!
Similar routine. Getting dressed. Morning tea and filling my tumbler with water. Daily devotional time then I tackle stuff for work and my mom/caregiving tasks for day.
It really helps me to get one load of laundry (if needed) started 1st thing in the morning! I take a bit of time to drink at least 1/2 c. Of coffee (before it grows cold). I like to take my morning meds. With food, but I’m often not hungry 1st thing in the morning.
I like your idea of setting an intention for the day. I think I'll try that. I'm pleased to hear you keep a commonplace book, or books. It's kind of an old-fashioned practice, but I do it, too. I use mine mainly for quotations I like that I want to keep, remember, and think about. I have one for the Bible and one for other sources. I also have blank books that I use to jot down anything I might want to find later. Lots of lists, mainly: flowers I'd like to plant, favorite movies, gifts given and received, genealogy notes, favorite authors, all sorts of things. Sometimes just an idea I'm thinking about and want to put into words to clarify my thoughts.
I also have more than one :) I have one specifically for my study through the Prophets, and another for everything else :) love that you do it too! I heard about it through homeschool, it’s common with the Charlotte Mason homeschoolers and we draw a lot from that pedagogy.
I've been watching your videos for a while now and took inspiration from your morning tea, breakfast and prayer. As a Christian woman I want to read and pray daily but I'd allow everything else get in the way. Since taking inspiration from you I get up, get a drink and do my reading and prayer usually before I eat, then make my breakfast. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Im also a Christian...and I absolutely need to get on a quiet time schedule...a date with God everyday that must be kept. I've got to do away with distraction and do it... Thank you Chana for sharing your day with us, your a lovely breath of fresh air..thank you
Chana, our days are somewhat similar. Dress, take my meds, walk the dog, make my coffee and I have been doing my morning prayers. I am also trying to read the Parsha for the week, but not always happens. Then is breakfast and my day has started.
My morning routine starts with stretching, gratitudes (3 - 4 things I'm grateful for and looking forward to that day), followed by brushing my teeth and splashing my face with water. Once I've done that, I feel a lot more awake when getting my son from his crib.
I wake up usually because I need to use the bathroom. Sometimes I lay in bed for awhile longer. I drink water right away, too. I do a blood sugar test. Then I make breakfast! Then I will shower and get dressed. I check my messages from my kids. And I check my email. My life is different now that I lost my husband this year. 🥰❤️
Mornings in this house are chaotic on the best of days. I run a private FeLV positive animal shelter out of my home The first thing I do is something called intentional waking. I don't set alarms in the morning, instead I allow my body to wake up on it's own, stretch and make it a point to meditate about where I want my day to go. I then get up and let my dog outside , take care of our two medical needs cats, get all 13 animals fed and cared for, feed the feral cats, check our outdoor shelters and that all takes about an hour or so. When I'm all done, I set up the coffee maker for my husband and I can finally sit down for a nice cup of tea. and the bonus is that I actually get to enjoy it because I know that the animals and my husband are cared for. It just feels good!
For the most days, I wakes up early to sit and enjoy my morning coffee. Sometimes I sit with it for a little half hour- It really makes my day better and I feel better (most important). Then I have a lot of selfcare, when I'm ironing my clothes and put some makeup on and do my hair, because when I feel at my best, I can be my best for others and myself included 😍😍
I too, love to get dressed first thing. Today my plan was to walk on my treadmill early, so I put on some lounge/sleep pants first thing. Well, it’s 2pm, I’m still in my pants, didn’t walk on treadmill, and feel like a slob!!! 😂😂😂 But getting dressed in clothes that make you feel good is a must for me!! I have mostly the same morning goals as you. I like the “intention”. Good way to focus your mind. ❤❤❤❤
@@jaroffireflies no it doesn’t!! 😂For me, it can be something very simple! Like I’m starting to wash dishes and I hear “I’m hungry!” It’s like all the plans in my head crash down.
Hey Chana! I am the same way as you as far as getting dressed right away. I get out of bed, make the bed, take a shower, get dressed and do my hair and makeup. Now I am armed to face the day!
My day kind of starts like yours except I don’t always get dressed before I leave my bedroom. I don’t know maybe it’s because I live alone but I think it is a great idea and I’m inspired to get dressed before I leave my room from now on so thank you❣️🙂
Baby Firefly is growing ! He looked like he was studying with you! Blessings to you and your family. Every morning, I take my meds, have my coffee while waiting for them to "kick in", then in get my work started. I'm usually stiff in the AM, so once I loosen up a bit, I can get to my house work or projects for the day. I told one of my doctors that I sleep with "Arthur" ( arthritis) every night, but my husband's name is Thomas! :-)
Like you I enjoy a little quiet time in the morning. I take my dog out first thing then sit down and enjoy a cup of hot coffee. Have a great week Chana!
Oh I totally agree about not staying in pajamas in the morning. I have to get dressed and ready for the day, it just helps wake me up and makes me feel ready. I definitely have to have my Bible and prayer time as well, otherwise my day feels off kelter. Love your videos!
My favorite tea beverage is green tea with peach flavor added. I put some honey (about1 tbsp) at the bottom of my favorite 16 oz mug, then add some lemon to the honey. You can squeeze some fresh juice in, or like I do most mornings, add 1/4 tsp of True Lemon powder. Add some of the hot water, and then stir until the honey is dissolved. Then you can add the rest of the boiling water. It is quite a delicious drink. I got the idea from a segment on the Today show. Jenna raved about this drink that was an off the menu item at Starbucks. I tried it at Starbucks, but I thought I could do it better. I walked through the tea section at one of my local supermarkets, I bought a box of green tea bags and a box of peach tea bags. The drink was ok, but I still thought it needed something. On one of my next trips to the supermarket, I saw that the Bigelow tea had a green tea that was already favored with peach! It turned out to be just what I was looking for. It is quite yummy, and is even good iced. You can leave out the honey if you like. I have begun ordering the tea from Amazon, so I will always have it on hand. The Kosher markings say “Parve”. Have a wonderful day. Baby Firefly looks like he is growing by leaps and bounds!!
Hi Chana: I've been going through a lot of personal/family issues this year, so I've started praying on them as I'm having my morning coffee. It's still dark and quiet, so I feel I can better focus. I love everything about your routine..you're so organized. I think that's a trait that a lot of us introverts share. Blessings to you and your family! Rosemarie 💖
It really is super important to set an intention for the day because it sets you up for success. I meditate and set my intentions before my feet hit the floor, and, if I don't, I feel off all day long. Hahaha, the "really " eye roll out takes, priceless!
I am in a completely different stage of life. Retired, so I to the the YMCA and exercise about 8am, 6 days a week. It gets my day off to a good start. And I have made several new friends, we have a good time talking after we have done our individual routines. Blessings!!
Hi Chana! My mornings start with me brushing my teeth, funny as that sounds. I can't even talk and make sense until I brush my teeth! After that, I feel normal and can function. That is my only must do first thing. I am very adaptable, if someone else wants to shower first, fine. I can go with the flow, but don't stop me form brushing my teeth! As always a pleasure to watch and learn.....
I have to have a cup of tea in the morning it so nice particularly in the uk with winter mornings. I don’t have a morning routine either I just see how the days goes.
My morning "routine" not dissimilar, I love a list & love to tick things off when done. I think its good to set a personal intention each day, must have to try that.
Good morning c h a n a, thank you for this video it was very good. I didn't realize I do have goals every morning. I generally think of them the night before and talk about them with my husband. My first goal is to be able to wake up, some days are difficult since I've been healing. Last week I started getting dressed every day. I've been wearing my nightgowns for over a year. They do look like dresses but I know that they're nightgowns. I have housekeepers however as you know certain spots of any house need to be taken care of everyday such as the bedroom and the kitchen. So each day I do something in the bedroom and I end my afternoon with anything that needs to be done in the kitchen and make dinner as well. Although if I'm tired my husband makes dinner. It doesn't seem like much but after 16 months of lying around healing it feels like a lot LOL. Now I've been incorporating painting again. That's been kind of fun. Finishing some work on furniture I'm doing Rose finds and Roses down a hutch. I use it for sewing material and my sewing machine and supplies for sewing! Currently those four goals each day make me very happy. I will add goals as the year goes on and I get stronger. Right now my legs aren't agreeing with me so I'm having difficulty with walking. But the surgeries all 10 of them did a bit of nerve damage in my legs but I'm working on it I can walk but just a bit wobbly. I'm sure that I'll be better by the end of this year as that is a goal. This is been a very encouraging morning thank you. This will go into my I am grateful book today. God bless you and yours. Love, jenwhite 🥰 ❤ 💖 ♥
Thanks for sharing your routine. Mine is pretty similar (I have coffee instead of tea) apart from learning. As I do better learning with other people rather than on my own, my time for that varies. I work from home so that takes up a lot of my day once the morning routine is over.
I am Noahide and I am at the beginning of the journey of my return to Ha'Shem, and I would like to know how you acquired your daily study program? could i have this study? If it is possible to have this study, where can I purchase this study? I would be grateful if you could answer me. Forgive me for not having good English, I'm Brazilian and I still have some difficulty with the language.
I have quiet time where I have my hot beverage and organize the day/week and what I will be doing that day or week. I write down/cross off goals as I go thru them thru the day.. I have to make my bed every morning, the day doesn't seem to go right if the bed isn't made.
@@jaroffireflies I get more done if I have a checklist and enjoy the reward of crossing things off. It's a good reminder too. I need a few moments with my coffee before the day gets going. My family used to call me a bear when I was little at home in the mornings. That quiet time helps me. Now that I use an organizer calendar book, I am much better organized. I like a book but some use electronic calendar/organizers. Whatever works 🙃.
When I wake up I take a few minutes to cuddle my cats, then let the cats out, feed them, take my pregnancy vitamins and then think about what's on the agenda for the day and make a plan for the day (in my head). I eat breakfast and then start my to dos. I like to be productive first thing in the morning otherwise I won't start.
Hi Chana, I am new to your channel, and have taken a particular liking to your Day in my Life videos. I work (almost) full time in a town 20 miles away from where I live, and as much as I like my job, a part of me dreams about someday doing some work from home and having more time at home to create a meaningful home life. Unfortunately, my husband and I both work in low-paying fields. However, we don't have children, so I would have time if I really took it to develop my own morning routine. I was happy to see this video, where you specify your morning self-care routine. I think it's important to take that time for yourself. In my case, I don't need to leave for work until 10 a.m., so I would have time to do a morning routine. Also, as someone who hopes to convert to Judaism someday, I find your focus on prayers inspirational. Thank you for sharing how you begin your day!
Welcome! I am so happy you are here and that you found my little corner of the internet :) Thank you for sharing your morning routine and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Good Morning Jar of Fire Flies, Nice video on your morning routine. Having a routine is not easy. Things are always changing. My routine is first give God glory and thank him for keeping me though out the night and to see other day. Then I turn on the gossip station. After that I take care of my dog's needs. Then I started cooking my dinner and fixing something to eat for breakfast. Since I am in school now. My routine has changed a lot. Now I will finish up my homework and send it in to my Professor 's . And setup for online classes. This is a lot for now. I can handle it. Peace be until you and your family. Chana, I love your tea kettle. It's so pretty...and i totally understand the ritual of morning tea. It has to be a pretty tea cup, the hot water poured from the lovely kettle...it's pleasing, and I get that
Love your tea setup!! I love the ritual of things like that too, but I don't like tea that much so I end up going through the whole process and then dumping out the tea once it gets cold....I always plan on drinking it....wishful thinking I guess!
Morning Chana!! I always start my day with tea or I am just not functional.. lol. I have to goal set and intention set. Thank you for the encouragement.
I'm a tea drinker too. My mom used to say that i must have some unknown British blood in me( I do have Irish ancestry so close enough since the Irish drink tea too) given how much tea 🍵 I drink,😁. This time of year, i alternate between Tea and instant hot apple cider mix which is so good. The brand I use is Alpine. My mom would every morning watch her Religious programs, read scriptures in the Bible and read her Daily Word books, little books that are very inexpensive and fit in purses etc.
@@jaroffireflies The boxes are sold in the Coffee and tea aisle , depending on the store, the cider can be above or below the shelves where the hot chocolate is.
Get dressed first thing in the morning helps me too also I love my morning tea like you 😊 after my tea I love starting aroma diffuser brings my mood up. Love the idea of setting up intention for the day ❤️
Thanks for sharing about your morning routine. Being a busy mother of 4 you definitely have to 'kick start' your day the right way. I know that if my morning is a muddle then that sets the tone for the rest of the day. Right now I'm caring for my partner who has had recent hip replacement surgery. (6 days ago.) For me once I've been to the bathroom and dressed I have to tend to our 2 cats and dog. Isn't it sad when the furbabies are first in line 😆😆? The dog goes outside for toileting, the cats are fed. By then my partner is settled in his armchair and I can make his coffee and breakfast and take it to him. He's still using crutches so carrying a plate or cup of coffee isn't really easy. Next is the dreaded kitty litter cleanup so the 2 cats have a clean 'bathroom' to use. Finally I can then go back to the bedroom and make the bed and then take my morning tablets. Only then can I organise MY morning cuppa and toast. Alas, no pretty tea set up like yours though. My partner is doing very well post surgery so no doubt he'll not be using his crutches for much longer. One thing that I admire about you are your beautiful eyes and warm smile. Have a lovely week. Best wishes from Brisbane in Queensland Australia.
@@jaroffireflies thank you! He's worth it. And as a retired RN I'm amazed at how fast patients who have had hip replacement surgery go home nowadays. In the late 70s they'd be in hospital for 2 weeks. Now they are out of bed a few hours post op and discharged 2 days later. And his pain levels which were 9 or 10 out of 10 pre op are now around a 3 or 4.
I love how you do tea. I’m a tea person. I would love to do such a ritual of tea drinking. But I drink mine black. So… I don’t need my cream and sugar set. It’s in a thistle pattern for my Celtic roots.
Why is tea so ceremonial anyways? 🤔now you have my thinking? Why does it inspire us to do ceremonial things with it? Why is it so soothing for the soul in this way? God has a reason, because cultures across the world have done this naturally. So it’s something he’s built in. Morning musings.

Sounds like a lovely start to your day Christine:-)
I absolutely love to-do lists, sometimes if I do something that wasn't on the list I will add it just so I can cross it off. ❤
Yes, I hang out with my friends :)
I hear that about the lists. I’m fine either way but lately I’ve been enjoying seeing all the tasks literally disappear:)
I like the bloopers at the end.
Thanks for watching till the end :)
I say morning prayers and thank God for giving me another day. You are an inspiration. Have a wonderful day 😊
Thank you Barbara! Hope you’re having a wonderful day too 💐
🤣🤣 the sneeze in the background of your bloopers....I guess that wasn't baby fire fly..😄
LOL
1. Drink a glass of water
2. Drink a cup of coffee. I'm a much nicer person when I have had my coffee.
I love the idea of an intention for the day!
Teehee I can relate to being a nicer person after my tea as well 😂
Now that I'm nearly fully mended and healthy I'm enjoying being up before my husband.
Shalom
Also I would like a “what I (or my kids) ate in a week” video!
Thank you for the suggestion!
I hope you find a new job that you love soon!
I read my devotions first thing. Then coffee! Oh no I get dresses first then brush teeth skincare is also a must.
Our mornings sound very similar :)
The color of your headscarf matches your eyes Chana. Super cool!
Oh thank you!
Boker Tov! You represent the Jewish cause and way of life extremely well. Keep up the good work with excellent videos. Baruch HaShem!
Thank you very much! Boker tov!
I go on a walk every morning after I have breakfast and get dressed. It’s only twenty minutes, but I find if I don’t do my day just isn’t as good. Movement is key!
Love that! We got out of our morning walk habit around here but I’d like to bring it back :) You’re inspiring me!
I do at least one thing to lift someone else up or help someone that needs it. I feel so happy from doing so. 🥰💓☀️
Oh I love that! How thoughtful!

Right. Getting ready for the day, something hot to drink and intentional time with the Lord really sets the tone for my day.
It really helps me to get one load of laundry (if needed) started 1st thing in the morning! I take a bit of time to drink at least 1/2 c. Of coffee (before it grows cold). I like to take my morning meds. With food, but I’m often not hungry 1st thing in the morning.
Love that you start the day by getting things done!
Hello Jenn! Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so happy that my videos I’ve helped you. Your mornings sound very lovely
Im also a Christian...and I absolutely need to get on a quiet time schedule...a date with God everyday that must be kept. I've got to do away with distraction and do it...

Chana, our days are somewhat similar. Dress, take my meds, walk the dog, make my coffee and I have been doing my morning prayers. I am also trying to read the Parsha for the week, but not always happens. Then is breakfast and my day has started.
Love that so much!
My morning routine starts with stretching, gratitudes (3 - 4 things I'm grateful for and looking forward to that day), followed by brushing my teeth and splashing my face with water. Once I've done that, I feel a lot more awake when getting my son from his crib.
Love all that!
I’m so sorry for your loss 💜 I like your morning routine 💜
What a lovely way to start the day!
It’s amazing how that little bit of quiet time in the morning can be the self care we need to get us through the day :-)
@@jaroffireflies Totally agree, it can really make the different, when you are an introvert (myself included) 🥰

Lol some days it doesn’t take much to go off the rails does it lol
@@jaroffireflies no it doesn’t!! 😂For me, it can be something very simple! Like I’m starting to wash dishes and I hear “I’m hungry!” It’s like all the plans in my head crash down.
@@karenjohnson5634 I am right there with you!!! LOLOL
Hey Chana! I am the same way as you as far as getting dressed right away. I get out of bed, make the bed, take a shower, get dressed and do my hair and makeup. Now I am armed to face the day!
Best way to start the day imo! ❤️
My day kind of starts like yours except I don’t always get dressed before I leave my bedroom. I don’t know maybe it’s because I live alone but I think it is a great idea and I’m inspired to get dressed before I leave my room from now on so thank you❣️🙂
You are so welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful :)
Yes he’s growing so very fast!
Like you I enjoy a little quiet time in the morning. I take my dog out first thing then sit down and enjoy a cup of hot coffee. Have a great week Chana!
Hope you have a great week too Betty! ❤️
Oh I totally agree about not staying in pajamas in the morning. I have to get dressed and ready for the day, it just helps wake me up and makes me feel ready. I definitely have to have my Bible and prayer time as well, otherwise my day feels off kelter. Love your videos!
Thank you Kathy! 💜
Your drink sounds yummy! Thank you for sharing! Hope you have a wonderful day too 💐
Hi Chana: I've been going through a lot of personal/family issues this year, so I've started praying on them as I'm having my morning coffee. It's still dark and quiet, so I feel I can better focus. I love everything about your routine..you're so organized. I think that's a trait that a lot of us introverts share. Blessings to you and your family! Rosemarie 💖
Thanks for sharing! I love how you are using that time :)
This was very helpful, I really like the part about setting your intention for the day; I'm going to have to try that!
So glad it was useful for you! 💜
It really is super important to set an intention for the day because it sets you up for success. I meditate and set my intentions before my feet hit the floor, and, if I don't, I feel off all day long. Hahaha, the "really " eye roll out takes, priceless!
Love that you set your intentions first thing! Glad you enjoyed the outtakes 😊
I am in a completely different stage of life. Retired, so I to the the YMCA and exercise about 8am, 6 days a week. It gets my day off to a good start. And I have made several new friends, we have a good time talking after we have done our individual routines. Blessings!!
That’s great!
Your skin looks great!!
Thank you :)
I totally get that!

I love how intentional you are with your goals, and how you really work at them every day! That is fantastic :-)
Thanks for sharing your routine. Mine is pretty similar (I have coffee instead of tea) apart from learning. As I do better learning with other people rather than on my own, my time for that varies. I work from home so that takes up a lot of my day once the morning routine is over.
So glad that you enjoyed Ruth! Hope you’re having a lovely day :-)
Thank you for your videos Chana ❤️
Thank you for being here!
Sure! It’s from the Orthodox Union Women’s Initiative. It’s called Nach Yomi. You can download the OU app to get the classes.
I have quiet time where I have my hot beverage and organize the day/week and what I will be doing that day or week. I write down/cross off goals as I go thru them thru the day.. I have to make my bed every morning, the day doesn't seem to go right if the bed isn't made.
You sound so organized! That’s so wonderful!
Sounds like a great morning!

Sounds like we have very similar mornings :-) I agree, it’s a great way to start the day
Thanks for sharing about your morning routine.
So glad to hear your partner is doing so well after surgery! I’m sure it’s due in no small part to your excellent care 💜
@@lilyfromBrissy amazing!
I love my thistle mug and tea bag holder :) It’s nice to remember our roots isn’t it? Love your morning musings :)
