Scott Robertson, the Kiwi rugby equivalent of McCullum was available and he would have been the revolutionary appointment England needed. But he was angling for the AB's job and will likely never coach England now as he'll be AB's coach for a long time and after that I imagine he'll coach in France or Leinster. Borthwick looks under pressure already despite being in the usual honeymoon period a coach enjoys during their initial 12 months.
My hope this year is that France implode, leaving Shaun Edwards aghast at what he signed up for with them. He feels dejected, while Bill Sweeney lurks round the changing room corner waiting to offer him 7 figures a year and 2x chippies in Wigan for the England job from 2024. A man can dream...
Astonishing that the greatest defensive coach of the past 20 years is English but has never been close to getting a role at the RFU whilst he's taken Wales and now France to elite level. Tells you all you need to know about the utter incompetence of the RFU.
Well Japan did very well under Eddie, 2015 RWC 🤔 & didn't they beat 🏴 4 years later? There's no "I" in team. There's too many chiefs and not enough Indians as the saying goes. So England need to take that last 15mins of Excellence and put it into the whole 80mins of a game and then we may do well in The World Cup. Impressive scoring a try with only 12 players 👍👍👍
They were supposed to be trying different moves , same with wales . Both sides have learned nothing from that . Complete waste of time . And the penalty count was appalling from both sides.

Whatever you think of the match (I'm sure we can all agree it was a terrible game all round) you have to hand it to England for coming back to win, having gone down to 12 men and after conceding a try.
Can someone check the stats and tell if its true that England have not scored a try that was not a push over from 5 meters on over FOUR HOURS? If that is true it is a disgrace and the England coaches should hang their heads in shame.
I worry both these teams may not make it out the group... Wales looked uninspired and even with a 3 man advantage looked awful, england slow and predictable and despite a clear decision to go with a more physical side seem to lack the ability to get over the gain line add in the regular schoolboy level mistakes and i think we need to beat japan to make it out of the group and im genuinely worried if thats possible atm

Poor game between 2 poor teams. If there was a 6 nations championship right now, Wales, England and Italy would be the bottom 3
England are in desperate need of the Rugby equivalent of Brendan McCullum and Ben Stokes.
See if Simon Middleton is available 🤔 or maybe just dump the current team & replace 'em
@@grumpygramps5350 Whoever is in charge needs to train the players like professionals but then send them out to play like the Barbarians (they are great to watch but lose mostly though lack of fitness not because they take so many risks).
Looks like they need to review the tackle on Billy V at 1:09
A win is a win but either way not nearly the match that we hyped it up to be just not good enough from england
Cant believe Eng won. Wales not good enough. Farrell finally red card deserved
It is unbelievable that England have never approached him with an offer he couldn't refuse.
Maybe Eddie Jones wasn’t the problem
He wasn't, imho
Well Japan did very well under Eddie, 2015 RWC 🤔 & didn't they beat 🏴 4 years later? There's no "I" in team. There's too many chiefs and not enough Indians as the saying goes. I think the men's game should look at the Red Rose's, last 6 Nations defeat, 2018 to the 🇨🇵 and been in every world cup final too! & let's not talk about the records they've set 😆
It’s not like England fans to start moaning. Poor performance yes, but this isn’t a great team in terms of spirit and talent. We aren’t going to win a RWC this year; while I get the frustrations this isn’t vintage wine it’s plonk. Need to build the next few years, start competing in 6N and look to 2027. Ben Earls was good; having 12 men showed we could drop some of those picked on previous form given who was benched!!!
@@michelefavaretto627 He was a big part, particularly after '19. By the end of '20 it was pretty obvious he was fed up of coaching England and wanted a change. Then he wasted two years of development time and more or less lost the plot.
We need some sort of decentralisation of resources in the RFU. Too much money in too few hands.
Pains me to say this as an England supporter, but that was ugly.
Catch, consolidate, kick.....catch, consolidate, kick ain't gonna win us anything. Japan and Samoa will really be fancying their chances against us.
I just hope, like Scotland last year, a couple of senior players get a grip on the field during the WC and move away from this ultra pragmatic approach and show a bit of ambition and flare during matches.
England look great on the training ground on Inside Line - but it all goes tits up when you add a couple of those pesky defenders.
So England need to take that last 15mins of Excellence and put it into the whole 80mins of a game and then we may do well in The World Cup. Impressive scoring a try with only 12 players 👍👍👍
Why did England keep taking the 3 points instead of actually playing rugby and preparing for the World Cup?
They were supposed to be trying different moves , same with wales . Both sides have learned nothing from that . Complete waste of time . And the penalty count was appalling from both sides.
I thought Freddie Steward was fortunate to get a yellow.
I watched the game and I think the yellow was right, it was foul play but not really dangerous
I agree. Really lucky - he was looking at him when he hit him in the air.
@@michelefavaretto627 To me the point is that it could've been very dangerous; he got lucky.
@@kingspeechless1607 Shall we just play touch rugby and call it a day?
@@thewomble1509 ouch, that's put me in my place hasn't it?
I played from 1966 onwards and I am no milksop. However I approve of trying to reduce the risk of accumulative head injuries, especially since beginnings of the professional era. The outcome of deliberately taking a ball-carrier out in the air is not predictable so I remain to be convinced it should be used as a guide to the level of punishment. Surely the point is to deter players from making such tackles!
12 man England?????
And we still won.
Pretty dire has to be said.
Ireland will, one suspects, canter to a win next weekend.
The only highlight, the ref blowing the final whistle.
So much negativity, 12 man pack - converted to a win, I cant wait to see the team firing on all cylinders
Well put. I can’t believe how ignorant some people are.
I wish to complain, it says highlights, there weren't any 😢
I think they should have said "less boring low lights" instead of highlights.

Japan 2nd? 😮

England have scored four tries in their last four games and conceded fourteen. This is THE problem with their gameplan. Scotland scored more tries today against France than England have in their past four games. England coaching = Zero attack. Zero vision. Zero creativity. A new low point for English rugby.
Ben Earl looked like he was the only one who wanted to be there, all over the pitch, the rest just strutting about looking lazy and knackered.
Itoje celebrating like he’s won the World Cup….pathetic.
Feel sorry for you guys next week against Ireland
could someone explain why Farrell O. was sent off, despite initially he received just the yellow card?
It changed under tmo review
because he had a tooth plik in his socks 😂😂😂
New experimental change, instead of reviewing a possible red and stopping play if its at least a yellow they sin bin them and the tmo team have 8 minutes check the footage and decide if its a red
@@atreyes Thank you. I'd never heard of a "bunker red" until yesterday and had no idea what it was.
Had one of both teams played against one of big 4 (Ireland, France, south Africa, new Zealand) would have shipped easily 40-50 points .I never saw England so poor, about Wales what to be said, extremely poor to have 3 man extra and not able to put the game to bed is a shame.
Well Englands playing Ireland next week so Ireland will win by 40+ points. According to you.
It'll be a much closer game than people think. I expect Ireland to win by 10 but after a hard struggle. England will be better without farrell, if Ford starts, they can cause Ireland problems
Its not just a shame its an absolute travesty; this was a piteous showing from the Welsh.
We're gonna do so bad in the world cup! I'm terrified of Japan at this point
And Argentina
And even if England make the quarters,Samoa is going for the big hits in that last game
face it, neither team were ever going to go 100% in these 2 games as they wouldn't want a bag of injured players before the WC...it was a basically a run out to try out the training paddock moves
This was the highlights?
Good news for Fiji
Don't underestimate Wales uce,But i hope you guys top your pool
🌹🏈🤔👏well done on the win England 🏴 we need that has I’m sure the Welsh would agree getting the ball 🏈 between the poles counts no matter how without prejudice
There are no highlights other than Farrell being sent off.
Farrells best years are behind him
Great to see that english bully rugby is back😂. RWC will have plenty of surprises and upsets this year.
In my opinion, ether team would lose badly if they played like that against teams like South Africa or New Zealand those team eat that kind of penalty count for lunch !
Wasn’t aware there were highlights.
France , NZ and Ireland will be trembling…
France & Ireland will be.

What did South Africa, England, & New Zealand all have in common at the 2019 RWC?....We all loss one game each, the difference between the All Blacks & England is we came 3rd & beat the World Champions Springbok team.
@@richardmatatahi4563 What was that? New Zealand were extremely lucky not to score zero in the semis against England and South Africa won the final. Nothing in common that really matters
PS. South Africa were not World Champions when New Zealand beat them.
England showed alot of grind in this game but I'm still not convinced they are anything like contenders for the world cup. Wales had alot of players who were having a run out to see performance levels and England still struggled. I don't like to admit it but I think wales lost that game instead of England winning the game.
I was there today! I'm English.... We are bad... But how bad are Wales to not be able put it away against 12 😂
Easily the worst game of rugby i have ever watched. Steve Borthwick is out of his depth and doesnt appear to have a clue what is going on!! Hate to say it. But told you so with the sacking of Eddie Jones, we have never been so poor and so low!!!
Nice to watch the minnows play once in a while 😆😆😆😆
Not a hope in World Cup for England
There were no highlights. I hope the fans got a refund. Marler should have done something for comedy value to liven things up.
I dunno - is fun watching Farrell get sent off
Good point. @@gwh3013
Let's hope Farrell is suspended for ever. Not a captain
Yeah, he is a serial foulplayer and he'd deserve it. Even if, maybe sad to say, the team play better with him as fly half than Marcus Smith.
Time to place good money on ARG & SAM both doing a number on this ENG Team in a few wks?!
Arg, yes. Samoa, no. Still, we aren’t going to trouble a decent side.
Whatever you think of the match (I'm sure we can all agree it was a terrible game all round) you have to hand it to England for coming back to win, having gone down to 12 men and after conceding a try.
Not really though it saved them from going 9 th in the world rankings.
Can someone check the stats and tell if its true that England have not scored a try that was not a push over from 5 meters on over FOUR HOURS?
If that is true it is a disgrace and the England coaches should hang their heads in shame.
Happy with the win. 12 Englishmen against 15 Welshmen sounds about right. You want entertainment then go to a theme park.
I bet you enjoy funerals
They found 6 minutes of highlights?
The Ireland game will be closer than people think. Ireland will still win but by only 10-15 points, won't be a thrashing. Irish fan saying that.
If wales plays anything like that, SA vs Wales is gonna be interesting 😅
I worry both these teams may not make it out the group... Wales looked uninspired and even with a 3 man advantage looked awful, england slow and predictable and despite a clear decision to go with a more physical side seem to lack the ability to get over the gain line add in the regular schoolboy level mistakes and i think we need to beat japan to make it out of the group and im genuinely worried if thats possible atm
I'm glad it wasn't just me that thought Wales were pants with a 3 man advantage. The commentators would have you believe Wales were playing champagne rugby when they scored their try against our 12
im from South africa and theres been a lot of dodgey refs like andrew brace
Yay more card's we want more card's Rugby is great
To be fair both teams were terrible but it was a good day
And those were the highlights! RIP English rugby. First they went sideways with the adoption of Thugby League, now they
are going backwards.....
What sort of sport is it where the England Captain doesn't know or care about the rules relating to tackling and has an appalling record in this regard? Would you let your children play this game when this example is set? It can be a wonderfully thrilling spectacle when played properly but sadly too many lives have been ruined.
