- HI everyone here is a quick video on a few tips to save wood on your outdoor wood boiler! This is my Central Boiler CL 6048 Classic! Always try to keep your wood and coals near the front of the door to maximize heat transfer! If you have wood far back it will be wasted and go right up the chimney!

Nice looking coals!
They are!
Good to see the side view diagram of the machine! My OWB is quite different in that perspective. I've started to add bigger founds when I have a nice bed of coal. Works good! Thanks!
It does indeed! Good coals you dont need to add split wood just fat rounds!
Great tips Jay, thanks for sharing👍🏻
Thanks Doug!
Thanks for the content, i have the same Stove
I love it! Simple!
I pretty much did the same thing. My chimney came right into the firebox in the back so I always kept the wood to the front. Stay safe my friend
Indeed! Its a good tip indeed!
Hey, Jay I really learned a lot from your videos before i got my boiler. I just posted a video on my Johnson boiler so someone can hopefully learn something from me. Thank you for all your useful information!
Thats what its all about! Helping one another for sure!
Appreciate the content Jay, keep doing your thing. Don't let the nay sayers or safety police wear ya down.
All good! Havent had much negativity so cant complain! All is well!
Absolutely spot on don’t want those Btus to go up the chimney , lol , know just stuff that b-- to the gills
nope LOL I dont stuff her haha I am confident it wastes more wood lol I guess Ill have to make a video on it haha
@@HomesteadJay I want you to do the one we talked about same size green log , to same size seasoned log and time it , great content will get u some views 👍🏻
I will for sure. I have a similiar idea as well but deff would make a good video!
I specifically watched this so I could see the hoodie flannel! Maybe next time LOL!
I literally did the whole video and then said Sh!t I didnt have it on LOL
All your snow is gone! In east central Minnesota, we got 10 inches today
Swampy weather here! Would prefer 10 inches of snow indeed! Need the ground to freeze!
It looks like winter this year right.
Good evening Jay..
It’s kinda funny to be able to work out side sweatshirt on January 4. It’s just not right.. But we are going to pay this summer when it is dry with not having much snow for run off this spring… I am not liking this at all… mud season is on us now.. hahahaha
As always stay safe and always be kind.
Go 603…
Indeed Gus! This weather is bizarre indeed! I didnt wear my flannel cause I didnt need it haha today was a good day to film thats for sure! Its amazing the difference in scenary from one video to the next we just cant seem to get the snow to hang around as you know!
Bonsoir my friend 😉👍Great Firewood saving tips Sir 👍😉🧐 You should protect your hands with welding gloves ( your wife will love it !!!) 😉👍 Cheers 🍻🍻
Hey Dave! I do have good gloves just didnt have them for the spur of the moment video! Hope all is well!
Let the man mow his own yard please.
Another great video. I’m sure you have said it in the past. But how much sqft are you heating?
About 3200. One home, no shop or anything. 6 heating zones, floor grid, and hot water heater!
Love that ash rake, I gotta remember to replace mine, the propane guy drove right over it :)
Does you central boiler fan shoot air over to the right predominately? Mine doesn't hit anything on the left of the chamber, wondering if that's a flaw with the design or mine is just catawampus for some reason.
How ironic a propane guy ran over a firewood rake lol these models don’t have fans so not sure what you mean haha
Jay- I’ve had a cl6048 for fifteen years. I have a house 150btu heat exchanger, 125btu shop exchanger and a 150btu pool exchanger. I burn 3-4 cords of oak per year and my 20” rounds are center in the stove. We keep ashes 12” up front and slowly move them out once a week. I burn mine at 180. How many cords of wood do you burn a year. I’m Delaware. Thanks
Hey there Bill! Not knocking your technique but the wood should be closest to the door! The more center or rear the wood the more heat out the back. This is right from CB from the engineers who designed it. I dont really measure cords but we dont have as much heat demand as you and our winters are wild average temp is about 29 prob last few years. Deff burn a fair amount but deff less than 8 "cords" I dont measure so cant exactly say really!
How is that big pile going that you had in front of the boiler
Few odds left now, I was actually going to go over that lol its been about a month since I brought it all home and Ive been mixing it in and its lasted a while! Spruce burns hot and fast!
@@HomesteadJay yes it does
