Thank you for a beautiful tribute to Tom. He and his wife, my cousin, were at my wedding back in 84. Their daughter, Sarah, was just an infant. In the few times I interacted with Tom, he was just as you sing -- quiet, even tempered, and an all round nice guy. The world is a little darker with his passing. I hope Elaine is doing ok. Rest well, Tom.
First memory I have of The Long Ryders it's when my older brother asked me, back in the mid 80's, to record in a VHS tape a brand new video clip of an American group that was expected to be premiered that day on a well known tv music program in Spain. Of course, it was 'Looking for Lewis & Clark', that video clip blown my mind, and still doing. Since then, I'm a Ryders fan and when possible, attend to their concerts when they tour in Spain. Great tribute song for a great bass player, folks! I felt so sad when the bad news about Tom arrived, he will be missed, rest in peace. Hope to see The Long Ryders soon on the road.
I used to go to their shows all the time in the ‘80s. I can see myself right up front on their dvd from The Roxy. I had some friends from Spain who I met when they studied guitar here in Hollywood. Jorge Mora and Fernando Calvo from the group Los Suaves from Ourense.
First listened to The Long Ryders on the Old Grey Whistle Test luckily recorded it on Betamax a old Sanyo Recorder built like a tank. That was it me and my brother fell in love with them the record was I Had a Dream. Well Tom thanks for all the memories I will and all my friends who then got hooked. Great tribute long live The Long Ryders.
I'm crying as I write this... Beautiful tribute gents! Mr. Stevens, thank you for the great music, singing and especially your songwriting. I'm sure you're hanging out in Heaven with Tom Petty, Gram Parsons, Roy Orbison and the rest of the greats...Rest in peace sir!
Oops thought it was a Creation cover! Tom wrote back to me on MySpace and was an amazing down to earth STAR. He felt every note as a bassman and was a pleasure to witness. And will always surround us in every recording and memory! Awesome track and covers his life from his soul bros !

Elkhart has the RV Hall of Fame; there really needs to be a Tom Stevens Hall of Fame now. 🤘🏻🏆
… or at least a shrine. 🤷🏼♂️
