Thank you for running with us this year and sometimes the stars just don't align. If you come back another year there's no doubt you'll cross that finish line.
It's a tough race for 100km even without the heat. You looked completely done when you arrived at Blitzingen, total respect for pushing on to the next checkpoint, you will finish it next year!!
Having seen your previous videos preparing for this….especially the Cape Wrath run…I thought that was ample training. It just goes to show things can make a difference….how you feel on the day, temperature (very important!), etc can make or break a challenge like this. Another great, and honesty, video….you’ll smash it next year 👍🍷
Looking from the outside in I'm surprised this didn't happen earlier as you were pulling out some epic races with little recovery or focused training, it felt like you were doing this to grow subscribers which has obviously happened but at a cost. Still it's been a great learning experience for subscribers of what not to do so definitely not wasted effort, thank you
@@FilmMyRun I know you're a really genuine guy who loves running, I didn't mean anything bad, you may never intend to but you have had amazing growth in subscribers that have coincided with this period 🤔
Yea, it's been a bit mad but most of that growth has come from two videos. One way the Jasmin Paris Barkley Marathon video and the other was my UTMB video. That's what it looks like from the analytics anyway.
Great honest video as always. The strap line of my own channel is 'consistently under prepared runner' I've got Hardmoors 60 miler in a month or so and am living up to that line!! 😬😬🫣
Look forward to next year’s video 💪. Echo your comments about being under prepared and complacent. These were the reasons for my DNF on an ultra earlier this year. It did however kick me into action to then run my next ultra a couple of months later fully prepared.
Brilliant video! Knowing that it will be a struggle to make the next cut off can be awful mentally! In the past, I’ve found myself checking out right there and then.
Great insight, it's always tough to pull out but sounds like 100% right call. Certainly looks like a race to add to the ever growing list! I'm running utmb in a fortnight and am attempting some heat acclimation by having hot baths!
Sorry to hear you couldn´t finish. So many people had to give up. I was close to a DNF too, as my energy at Chäserstatt was totally gone. But loads of Ice tea, some rest and bit of food helped me to recover and finish the race. A beautiful event!
@@Frabart05 well done. That’s often the best idea, to wait a few minutes and recover before starting again. Unfortunately I checked out mentally before Chaserstatt and couldn’t get going again. Next year!! Congratulations again.
Thanks for sharing this - we’ve all had races where we weren’t ready or it hasn’t gone our way. It’s reassuring though to hear about your experience 👍 great that you’re going back next year! You can smash it then 🔥🔥 all the best
l was on this Aid station Blitzingen where we try to beat up abd motivate you YOU CAN MAKE IT. l had a cap Speedland running. Hope it had a help a bit. DNF is a part of the game. Greetings from the Bernese Alps. Hope your visiting as one more time and try up for 2025. Were waiting on you dude #stayhard my brother from anothe mother
Any dnf is gutting, but its a learning curve as well, we beat ourselves up as to what went wrong, training, nutrition, race prep. I dnf’d my 1st 100k at tarawera in nz, i went back and finished the race. My dnf…… blisters on the arches of both feet. It was something i could not have thought about, it just wasnt my day.
Sorry you were not able to finish this year. I thought we would both get the SDW and Swiss Alps double! I have DNF the Swiss Alps 100 and 160k and came back the following year to complete. You can do it next year.
Nutrition is always my biggest enemy when it comes to ultra distances! I just struggle so much to get any food inside me. I'm like you Stephen, gels just seem to make my guts worse, however I've never given milk a try, so this might be something I will try in training 🤔 Whats the brand of yellow shirt you are wearing? As ever, thanks for an honest review, and I'm sure you'll use that DNF to bounce back even stronger 💪🏻
@@paulmulks thanks Paul. Yes the shirt is from Flying Burrito and of course I have a discount code if you want to get one. They do various colours and designs. flyingburrito.eu and code filmmyrunfb
Good work neither less. But as you say your head need to be with you. Me to dont like gels and heat. And i tend to drink youghurt to calm my stomach :D I will see if i can do that race next year and meet up. Would be cool.
By the way: I had my DNF this year at the Eiger Ultra 100k due to my knees... mind over knees doesn't work 🤪🙉 did too much training too near the race... 😉
I noticed a comment on here mentioning about vlogs for gains, this is pretty much what rachel d has done this with her alleged harrasment videos, and several others. As you know my side of the story, i need to add that as of this comment, No police have contacted me regarding the alleged verbal and physical incident that she says took place, its been nearly two months, if it was that serious an offence that she alleges happened, wouldnt the police be questioning me? She even stated in some of her comments on these vlogs that it has benefitted and boosted her channel with subscribers. The comments everyone has posted regarding her allegations have been great to read tbh. Everyone taking on board her side of the story. That im the villain, im the stalker. None of you even know me, but for the word of one person who lied and cheated in our relationship, she cant back up her allegations, this is the problem with social media these days, you dont know the person personally, only watch her channel, but i know her personally, and trust me, what you see is different behind the scenes of youtube. Would everyone have the same attitude if they knew the real truth she isnt telling her subscribers and hearing my side of the story? I very much doubt it, i will continue to turn up for races, to parkruns, if she is there, so be it., i dont care. She has to live her life as a false representation of who she actually is.
