Quite beautiful. Those hymn tunes never sounded as good. The Lento is just wonderful. Lovers of British music have a lot to thank Chandos for, in bringing many lesser known works to a wider audience. Thanks also to Rodders for sharing via You Tube.
There's something about the work of RVW that lowers my blood pressure and gives us hope that such beauty exists in the world. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful music.
These Preludes are exceptionally exquisite, have always loved them thank you for sharing.

Thank you Robert. Just reading your comments has lowered my BP too.
Absolutely moving.
Never heard these Welsh hymn tunes before, but they sound quite charming!
This is excellent. Thank you.
thank you...
Beautiful, especially the Variations (8:12). The blend of strings and horn is sublime. Shame about the "Obbligato Thumb-Down" twit........
Is there anything this man has written that isn't achingly beautiful?
First time I have heard these though I know the organ version of 1920 which is quite different. RVW was in his element with strings.
This is not connected to the 1920 piece.
Arrangements of two of the preludes from that work can be heard at ua-cam.com/video/P4k_r7rYM_g/v-deo.html
Rodders?That's Dell Boy's brother, isn't it?
