Yves Castagnet is one of the most underrated composers and organists in France, he is a great composer and organist who deserves much more credits as he has now.
very unique how deliberately he plays the chords starting at 5:50. Most organists rush straight through. But here he allows every note to fully develop before releasing. Definitely a more vast and awesome sound.
Bedankt mr. Heijkamp. In dec.
Tremendous interpretation! Yves Castagnet recorded the Symphonie-Passion & Evocation in 1991 at the Great Cavaillé-Coll Organ of the Abbatiale Saint-Ouen, Rouen. (CD: Sony SK 57485). The best interpretation on disc along with that of Marcel Dupré (Philips) and Ben van Oosten (MDG). But the Casagnet interrpetation is, without doubt, the most terrifying.

Absolutely incredible. To hear this, played that well by Yves, on that organ...leaves one nearly speechless and in tears.

The two best interpretations of this movement I have heard come from Mr. Castagnet and Johann Vexo. The Parisian organists never let you down.

Johann Vexo is very very great organist....👌

Sure is, just wish the recording on that cd was a bit better!

Intéressant reportage. Bonne interprétation

Pity it is monosound. But spléndid performance!
Oh - I would give my right arm (almost) to here that Dupré piece at Saint Sulpice. I'll settle for any other Dupré . . .
Unacceptable technical quality.
