Hot take : animation is really important for an anime as much as the story. Its literally called "anime" and i love seeing the creative artstyles and smooth animation.
At the same time people act like it's trash if an anime doesn't receive animation at the level of the best animated shows. Hot take: character model consistency and good story boarding are more important than smooth animation and creative artstyles (obviously you'd want a combo of everything though)
tbf I had just woken up and was still half asleep when I made that tweet so I apologize if it sounded stupid. But basically I guess all I was trying saying is that I just find people saying "It was so bad that it was good" kinda weird, cause at the end of the day these types of media are made to create entertainment and if a person did genuinely enjoy a show and had fun watching it and then say its only cause of how bad it was that they liked it, then is that really fair? I mean, that piece of media achieved its goal of entertaining you even if it is "bad", like everything is subjective, including someone's opinion on a generally considered "trash" show, so yeah you might as well admit that it was good enough that you genuinely enjoyed it, you don't really need to add the "Oh yeah it was trash, and thats why I liked it" or something like that. All i really meant is that I don't think the inherently negative sounding part of "its so bad its good" is needed if you liked and enjoyed something. If this still sounds stupid asf then feel free to cook me over this.

I'd modify the shounen one to: Shounen fans need to stop acting like their taste in shows is the be all and end all of anime. Just because there aren't any Shounen Jump shows airing it doesn't mean anime has fallen off

I'm fine with letting people love and watch what they want, but it's disappointing when people don't want to exercise some curiosity and check other genres for shows they could potentially enjoy. That disappointment turns to annoyance when they trash on other genres or act like only their favorite is worth watching. At least watch other stuff before trashing people's tastes. This applies to any fan of any genre in any medium acting like this.
"so bad its good" only really works for comedy. Its shockingly bad and that's what makes it funny. You can't have a "so bad, its good" show that makes you cry or be horrified for any reason other than it physically hurting to watch, which I would not consider a good thing. So its basically saying its unintentionally funny or captivating, like a car crash or other accident, watching someone fumble a conversation with a guy/girl they like, or someone being unbelievably shit at things that should be easy. At a certain point, once the shock goes away, it just becomes painful and/or boring to watch

I think the best lengths is something like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. 50-60 Episodes. Enough place to go in detail with stuff and tell a big story with a good thought out end but short enough so it isn't filled with empty worthless shit. Sadly this format is barely used anymore.
