  • The Hine's Emerald dragonfly is a federally endangered species along with being on the Michigan endangered species list. This female Hine's Emerald was hanging out on a spruce branch along the shoreline of Horseshoe Bay on Lake Huron near St. Ignace, Michigan. This stretch of shoreline and the surrounding Hiawatha National Forest wilderness area has a population of Hine's Emeralds that can be seen from late June to late July.
