I have to say thank you so much. My grandma wore knowing all my life and sadly just passed away last Christmas. I couldn’t find a single bottle anywhere because I had forgotten the name. Thank you for sharing this one
Hello there. Just discovered your review. Great job and I like all the details you speak about. Its apparent you have a passion for perfume! I recently found a 1988 original bottle at an estate sale of Knowing. I thought it may have gone bad but luckily it smells just the same as I remember! I also have the new formulation which isn't bad but I feel blessed to have stumbled across an original bottle!
Knowing was created by Elie Roger and not Jean Kerleo, as incorrectly stated on Fragrantica. Jean Kerleo apparently provided the inspiration to make the fragrance after speaking to Evelyn Lauder (Estee’s daughter). While she was in holidays, she was entranced by the scent of Pittosporum mingled with some nearby roses, where she was staying. She wanted to have a perfume made inspired by those smells. Elie Roger from Firmenich, was the nose behind Knowing. Jean Kerleo worked for Patou fragrances at the time Knowing was created, he never worked on any Estée Lauder projects. Love this beautiful perfume! In my top 10 of all time since it was released. 😊♥️🥰
@@Perthumery You’re welcome! The vintage Knowing is superb, I’ve collected many bottles. 😍 Restrictions also reduced many other notes in the modern Knowing - Lily of the Valley, Oakmoss, civet & musks toned down etc. But it’s still a very good reformulation in any case, as with many Estée Lauder perfumes. You have some amazing perfumes, so many like mine. 😊
I lost my sense of smell after having co.vid, and honestly would have rather lost a leg...it's been nearly 3 years, and just a week ago I noticed that could smell the vanilla when I opened a bottle of vanilla flavoring in the kitchen...it's still very faint to me, and I can't seem to smell anything else but I hope my sense of smell will return. Another reason we need to return to the strong glorious scents of the past, too many ppl have weak smellers due to covid, and can't even smell these weak watery colognes.
It's such a shame these works of art have been so cheapened down and changed over the years, some to mere shadows of themselves...a few are still beautiful, but I don't like how watered down many of the scents are, and they often don't last. People won't continue to pay for sad weak fragrances just because they have famous names.
I tried Bottega Veneta last week for the first time, loved it ❤️
Thank you Claire. I hope they will not discontinue it any time soon.

Try to find the vintage version, it would be more fair representation of your grandma scent

Aww man that's terrible. Hope you get it back
