- Hi lovelies! In this video, I show a day at the salon getting my 4c natural hair silk pressed for the first time. It was my first salon visit in 4 years and I was very excited for 2 reasons: someone else was going to be doing my hair and I was going to have straight hair for the first time since I went natural in 2018 (so in 5 years).
I had a very pleasant experience at the salon and love my silk press.

Will there be any hair damage from being a straight natural?
There shouldn’t be if it’s done properly. One could suffer heat damage if the process isn’t done at the right temperature or if done without heat protectant.
Yes! I’m a straight natural. It seems like my hair retains more length and doesn’t tangle up as much.
That’s nice to hear. Do you care for your hair yourself or go to a stylist?
@@Topes_Sprinkle I only wash and blow dry my hair myself each month. No flat ironing myself. I go to the salon every 2-3 months for a full treatment and press

The stylist has nice long hair too that looks like all hers so I would think she would be a good person to have doing your hair on the regular.
Thank you! I was stunned too. My shrinkage is intense. The stylist had tracks on her hair but they appear natural because she’s really good with hair. I’ll be going back to her from time to time.

I was a straight natural for the last 8 yrs. My hair grew just fine and is healthy. My curls weren't heat damage except once when I got a Dominican blow out. For my hair it was too much heat. That was my only issue being a straight natural. I am currently doing a yr no pressing my hair challenge 🙃 I have been wearing crochet hair styles...

Firstly you are so beautiful! I loved watching your hair getting washed it looked so therapeutic, your hair turned out lovely and I will add another suggestion apart from straight naturals they also have blow dried naturals (and you can style it so many ways ) especially of you like big hair so that's also an alternative option.

Thank you! I’ll say keep your hair moisturized at all times and be consistent. I find that’s key to retaining length. You can also try hair growth oils to support growth.

Beautiful hair😊, can you please tell me what kind of foods you eat for such healthy hair and any vitamins you take?
Thank you 🤗 I try to eat a balanced diet although I would not say I do a good job and tend to eat more carbs. I also take a general multivitamin for female health. I don’t take any specific multivitamin for hair. Hope this helps 😊

What salon did you make your hair please? I'm curly/coily and I've been itching to silkpress and highlight my hair. But can't find any good salon willing to do thick African hair.

Not a silk press. Looks a diy flat iron job. Something must have gone wrong with the wash/prep process because your hair was stiff after she was done
If that’s what you think or took away from the video that’s fine but my hair was not stiff after she was done.
