- The joy , the pain ,the challenge , the learning curve . Disappointment is part of the process but that what makes this style of photography so addictive .
We make the mistakes as we make the decisions and get to own our failures and our sucess rather than chimp at what the camera provided us with

Those cliffs are mad.
This is the way !
class work, man :)
Cheers!
Absolutely lovely pictures! I'm somewhat put off by the clinical qualities of modern digital lenses. Hence, I am using my Leica M digital with my older M lenses (Mandler era). No regrets at all. But your pics are tempting me to take my 120 out of retirement, from the dry box. Thanks again and God Bless
Nice stuff, as usual.
Thanks !
I see you are using LEE 100 filters. If I may give you a tip: LEE provides free apps with stops/ND tables. All you have to do is set the measured time and you can read the number of stops. I find the app very useful, especially when applying multiple filters at the same time.
Thanks for the tip
With colour filters I either deduct the correct amount on the light meter or meter through the filter , an orange filter for example is generally 2 stops but it isn't the same across all the ev values in the scene so by spot metering through the filter I know how each value is effected
Some great images as usual.
Thanks !
This is the way
It is !
Great video! Thumbs up noted! I’m glad you noted the issue with the steel reels. I was about to switch from my Patterson because I thought the steel might be easier to load 120 film. So glad I saw your video. By the way, have you had your knee done yet?
It's gonna be a good 6-12 months wait for that on NHS !
The Steel reels are best for clean edges on negs but worst for occasional disasters . It's a constant dilemma for me
@@AustenGoldsmithPhotography I’m glad you mentioned the clean edges because I often have to crop an image to deal with the “Patterson edges”. That was another reason I was considering the steel tanks and reels. Regarding your knee, that’s quite a waiting process but the National health care system is a plus, especially for retired folks like me. I pay about $10,000 a year for me and my wife’s Medicare, Medicare supplement insurance, prescription insurance and drug copayments. Our surgical wait times are not too long but health insurance is very expensive in the states. I guess either way, there is no free lunch!
I knew there was a reason that I like the plastic Paterson tanks and reels.
Easier to load but I have had developing issues with plastic at times , more prone to bubbles and stains
I just cleaned all my plastic in the dish washer for next time
Cleanliness is next to godliness when in the darkroom. While I haven’t done much darkroom stuff lately back when I was I’d replace my plastic tanks every now and again. For some reason I cleaned the reels better than the tanks I guess though I did get new reels every two yrs.
