Really enjoyed these , the Lost Stories can be hot and miss for me, but not these. Had low expectations of Operation Werewolf because of the title I'm not into stuff with Werewolves so it was a nice surprise to find it was actually a sort of Historical , reminded me a little of the NA book Just War . Deathworld was fun , a look into a version of The Three Doctors where Hartnell would have been more active. Really into the recast 2nd and 3rd Doctors, I don't dislike the new 1st, he's a good actor , just can't see The 1st Doctor, so in my minds eye he's more like a 'sideways' version from another dimension, like the one in The Five Doctors .
Good day to you, Andy. I’m very sorry to hear that you don’t satisfactorily experience the First Doctor in my performance. However, I’m fascinated by how diverse the response is to the project, and with each successive story, I try to up my game. Comments like yours remind me to remain vigilant and to keep up the pressure. So, many thanks and very best wishes, Stephen 😁
Oh please don't get me wrong, I enjoy it very much and didn't mean to hint otherwise! I can tell you've clearly studied the character and you're doing very well , even down to the occasional Billy Fluff...which others would either ignore or go too far with. It's only when I watched the recent commentary on Spearhead from Space that I realised what level of Who Fan you are! Keep up the good work Stephen!
@AndyRossim I've got to push back on you there. Yes, I'm biased as Stephen is a friend. However, we only became friends after he recorded the first Doctor. His rendition carries the idiosyncrasies of the first Doctor so closely it defies belief. This IS the first Doctor, just as William Hartnell envisioned him way back in the 60s. It defies belief that anyone can say they can't hear the Doctor in this performance. We are fortunate to have such a talent in the role who is not only dedicated to the role, but is also a fan of the show. The care taken in the performance is more than you could possibly imagine. And yes, I'll be expecting a cheque in the mail from Stephen after this comment. But seriously, Stephen has perfected the rhythm of the first Doctor unlike Hurndall or Bradley. I recommend you listen again.
I said I was enjoying his work and will continue to do so ! When my first comment was taken was more negative than I meant it to be, I replied to be more positive and clear! I honestly feel you've come back at me a tad strong here I have to say, you don't know what I am capable or not capable of imagining when it comes to an Actor's prep work or research ! I even noted his intelligent use of 'Fluffs' , I can name the very episode he must have had in mind when he did one in the story! Even when it's an actual impressionist like Jon Culshaw , or someone like Micheal Troughton , or Sadie Millar, I don't always have a 'TV accurate ' image as I listen, sometimes it 'sharpens ' , sometimes it's more vague , as with all the audio listening I do. Sometimes it can be a tiny thing, like Daisy Ashford's occasionally slipping in just a little bit of Yorkshire accent In, which is in her Mother's acting as Liz but not obvious. Only a few stories of Stephen's First Doctor have been released , I've got them all and story by story, I'm getting more into it. I can't help it if I need time with a recast to adjust , I don't always have a constant perfect image of someone passed away in my 'Minds Eye ' as I listen, I don't need a spot on Impression, just a good actor giving a good performance thats in line with the character as the original actor realised it , and I have that. I enjoy both David Bradley's take on the character , and now Stephen's too. I respect your speaking up for a friend, but I do think you've went a bit strong at me , especially when I'm just a new viewer of , for me, your recently discovered podcast . I mean the frankly, very Trump-ish 'you can't possibly imagine ' bit , and the passive aggressive suggestion to listen more. Maybe that wasn't your intended tone at all, if not, well then both of us have been misunderstood in an Internet interaction! Anyway I'm going on too much (blame MY ADHD and Autism if you want, I will!) and it's frustrating having to type out something I'd rather say with all the friendly nuance of real conversation but I felt I had to push back a little on your pushback and I hope I've convinced someone that at least I'm trying to be sincere here and am enjoying your friend's work. Thanks for reading thus far, if you did. Best wishes from Newcastle , UK
@@AndyRossism I would say that the one performance I consider to be quasi-miraculous is that of Jon - I Can’t Believe It’s Not Courtney - Culshaw. Recently, I was half-listening to a clips video and vaguely thought, ‘Oh there’s Jon doing his Brigadier.’ It turned out to be an actual clip of the genuine article from The Invasion. Truly uncanny. PS I love Newcastle. It’s long overdue a return visit! 😁

Now can Big Finish do a version of Dimensions in Time that makes sense?
I'm sure they could if they tried.
I would like the story mark Gatiss was going to write with the Daleks and Nazis I’m a museum .
I don't recall that one.
