Howdyyawl from the land down under. This must be an old video, The Spirit now goes out of Geelong. It's still a nice float over to Tassy. Noyhing like the exit in Tassy, the air is much cleaner & crisp. My wife & I have been over 8 times. Enjoy the trip & your time in Tassy. You may not want to leave. Keeping it real😊

Another good spot to park is at the Westgate park. Just off Todd Road, basically under the Westgate bridge. If coming over the bridge, get into the left lane, and exit into the service centre that has the Hungry Jacks. Circle around the back, turning left onto Cook St.
Not a lot of parking for big rigs, but for those with cars needing to park out of the way, it is golden. There are public toilets, and a large park to explore to kill a few hours. No height limits for vehicles (other than overhead tree branches).
There is also a public bus nearby, giving you the option of parking the car, and catching the bus into the city for the day.

I've done this trip several times over the years, the Mrs has family in northern Tassie, and I'd like to offer a couple of other tips, which are only really relevant when not towing anything. Firstly, if you are travelling in an average car, or 4WD/SUV even, and not towing, you don't need the measure the length, this only applies to long vehicles and when towing. Secondly, if you have any mobility issues, even a walking stick or walking frame, let them know when booking, you usually need to call once you've booked. Your car will be flagged when you board, and you'll be placed into a wide parking bay at the bottom of the ferry, you'll be first on and last off. If you don't do this, you risk being parked somewhere (such as next to a fence on deck 6 parking) where you'll find getting out of your vehicle very difficult. Finally, if travelling with pets, make sure their vaccinations are up to date, and remember they'll be placed in special cages on deck 5, and will not be with you on board. They can have a favourite toy and/or blanket with them in the cage.

I’d also suggest folding those Wide View towing mirrors in. Not just on the TT Line, but anytime parked. They’re a very wide target!

Great video, I have travelled back and forth from Tas to Melb. for years and have always just blundered along not knowing where everything was. (on any of the ships). Leaving Melb in a few days to go back and definitely appreciate all the tips, re: parking up before boarding, best deck to view from etc. I have subscribed and look forward to watching your other videos as time permits.

great video. We did Tassie 5 or 6 years ago for a week in a car. Brilliant week and we will go back with the van for 3 or 4 months at least. The getting on and off the ship was a bit protracted I thought. Were not expecting the wait time involved especially when you arrive in tassie late afternoon. We didn't book any accommodation and by the time we got through it was going on dark and all local places were full. Had to drive 20 kms or more to find a vacancy. Still it is what it is. Great info for us next time

This will be our 3rd trip and we can’t wait to head off in September. It was a good refresher watching you board S of T and great tip about parking nearby before boarding. 😊

Not sure why I watched the video as I have caught the ferry several times and living in Melbourne it is only about an hour away for me. However I had never noticed those cards near the door telling you which door your vehicle is parked near. On there again in a couple of weeks so I'll keep an eye out.
The ferry is also relocating to Geelong later this year. Great video BTW and I hope you had a wonderful tour of Tassie - it is an awesome place

I just noticed the boat. How's the fishing. I'm hoping to throw a line in on the Derwent, around Strahan, and in St Helen's. Aiming for anything salty from the shore.
