"They kinda still had a last player being picked because bjorkstrand was the last one to open the envelope" uhmm that's nothing like having a player being picked last lol. In fact by having the last 4 players go to whichever team by this method is a great way to avoid being embarrassed to be picked last imo so kudos to them for that.
Leaf fans need to be prepared that nobody of value will be acquired at or before the trade deadline. The Leaf brass has said that they are not willing to part ways with their top prospects (Cowan & Minten) and or future draft picks. So at the end of the day if a trade is made it will be come from their AHL players and or their 3rd and 4th line NHL players since their top 4 paid players all have no movement clauses (Matthews, Nylander, Marner & Tavares). They are also tight to the cap so any money coming in will also need to come out.
They have plenty of cap space to work with mostly due to Klingberg's injury relief. Assets are pretty thin though so I do believe it's reasonable to keep the expectations low on the trade topic.
According to Capfriendly they currently only have 35K remaining with a full 23 man roster. They can trim the roster to 20 players (lowest a team can go) and increase their cap space usage though. @@ScottGostick
They will definitely get a huge cap relief once JT's contract expires after the 2024/25 season. Until then though the cap will continue being an issue for them. @@waldmarwolchuk9483
@@LockedOnLeafs Treliving beaten to the punch again I'm afraid... Savard is still an option considering Montreal hit the jackpot already....cos that's a good deal for the Habs. A similar deal to my original proposal would be Donato and Tinordi, from a Blackhawks organisation who have proven to be realistic trading partners for the Leafs... It wouldn't cost as much too...but I'm at a loss now. Honestly if it wasn't for Max Domi's strong desire to be a Leaf, Treliving's start to his tenure has been disastrous.
Trade Mitchy. Fire Keefe.
Yikes

Savard and Monahan would be what I'd be going after...with term on Savard, it seems like ideal for the Leafs.
Unfortunately Monahan is now off the table. Thoughts on the deal?
