With the vast amounts of ouds, vanilla's & citrus out there, the series could be endless. I could see it now: Oud showdown part 12. Vanilla showdown part 41. Citrus showdown part 97. At best intriguing, at worst tiresome 😆
I don’t know exactly how I ended up here either, but I absolutely love the content and can’t wait until his fragrances are available again in the USA. Time to expand beyond my Dylan Blue and Eros Flame. Be fantastic and do really, really well.
I LOVE this idea of a note showdown! You continue to amaze me with how concise yet detailed you can be with your reviews. I regard your opinion so highly!
Terre d'hermes Intense Vetiver is my #1 so far. So good that I am on my second 125 ml refill since January 2023. ❤❤this scent. For a quieter Vetiver, I fell for Guerlain Vetiver Parfum. Smooth, slightly smokey in the dry down, a little sweet Guerlainadish, but my number 2 vetiver fave. Great review. Thanks!
Glad to hear you also appreciate TDH Eau Intense Vetiver , truly one of my favorites and one of the few bottles I’ve almost emptied. There’s always a place in my collection for this one.
Aaron this series is fantastic! Would love to see more of this with other notes in perfumery. If you ever do a part 2 to the vetiver showdown, please try to get your nose on Guerlain Vetiver. It's one of my favorites!
Awesome idea to test Parfumes only with a specific note! Thank´s for all your effort by the way. I really enjoy your professional perspective, calm manner and the quality of your videos.
I know probably everybody else has said it, but I love this style of video! It's so great to hear your opinions and how things relate to each other. It's a great way to be able to look at foundational scent breakdowns and kind of pick and choose what suits you best. Please do more of these if you are able 🙂 thanks, Aaron!
Mancera Vetiver Sensuel is one of my favorite Mancera fragrances, and one of my favorite Vetiver fragrances. You described it perfectly, as you usually do!
I hope the Guerlain is covered in the next video. I also love all of the Encre Noir series too. Guerlain's Vetiiver is the quintiessensial in my opinion, but I will go out and check the Hermes and mancera.
The whole time I saw this post on Instagram I was thinking “I swear Aaron doesn’t really like vetiver” and then you said it. I like that you don’t love it, but still appreciate it and work with it.
It's always very interesting to see a video about fragrances with a certain predominant note done by a person who is not a massive fan of said note. It goes to show that, as helpful as sites like Fragrantica are, it's always good to try stuff that you think you might not like initially based on a particular note.
Aaron you are right on the money here. Terre D'Hermes Eau Vetiver Intense is currently my signature fragrance for hot & humid weather. Works great in SE Asia & Middle East. I fell in love with Vetiver originally with Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EDP (NOT the Parfum). Its more sparkly and effervescent than the Hermes, whereas the Hermes is a little spicier with the Sichuan pepper. When the price of the Tom Ford started to go mental I switched over to Hermes and am very happy with it. I was excited about the potential of the Grey Vetiver Parfum, but sadly it is dogshit. Totally lost the effervescence of the EDP, and just became heavy and sickly.
I very much enjoyed this fragrant showdown, but there are two legends that I am PRAYING are in Part 2! Those would be Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EDT and Guerlain Vetiver EDT! I'm also hoping to see Encre Noire Sport in here. I have all three and love them all very much. However, Guerlain Vetiver EDT is on another level imo. Pure masterpiece! I really hope it's in this showdown and that you agree Aaron!
Oh I do love a single note review video! I'm not familiar with vetiver, but I got a sample of Mr. Vetiver in the UNe Nuit Nomade discovery box. It's very mellow, clearly masculine, and I don't feel the urge to wear it, but it is absolutely addicitve. I can't stop sniffing it.
Aaron, you should try a small niche Mexican house of Xinu, while you are in Mexico. They have a lovely boutique in Polanco. Maybe you will review something from them.
Vetiver is my favourite . Love Original , fresh and I find it addictive . Been going to it all summer . Guerlain Vetiver is a classic , but definitely not what it was in the 80s or 90s . Vetiver Extraordinaire from Fredrick Malle is superb
Hey Aaron, would you mind making a "top 5" (or whatever) video about your favourite fragrances that YOU HAVE REVIEWED. Please include your own too. By watching your videos I've noticed that we have very very similar taste, that's why such a video would be perfect for me and for others I believe as well.
I enjoy Original Vetiver, but I have to be in a particular mood to wear it and it has to be in the spring. I live in AZ where the summer temps are 105-120 degrees Fahrenheit and for some reason more pronounced vetiver notes are unappealing for me in the high heat.
I started my fragrance journey over a year ago and have watched your reviews since day one! Keep doing what you’re doing! I’m from the UK but still cannot get tabac or supernova! At the moment you are just too popular 🤣
My favorite Vetiver fragrance is easily Vetiverissimo by the U.S. house Fzotic. It has every element of vetiver in it - it's lightly green, grassy, earthy, rooty, milky, and soapy all in one. It's amazing how he managed to make all the different facets shine through.
I’m not a vetiver fan at all, but I do love Terre D’Hermes, and of course the vetiver in Supersonic and Guapo. I’m excited for Guapo Extreme, but honestly Morpheus looks like a wish list of all my favorite notes, most excited for that one.
I use C02 Vetiver which is more expensive but give you clean and pure vetiver. Guapo Extreme puts this vetiver at the centre of the whole fragrance with some spices and apple. Strong but so easy to ware. Morpheus will get well received. It's in a new collection of more affordable Neiche / commercial Ouds. This is where I have found my best love work sits. So expect a lot more of this type of work in the future. My experimental / rude words period is now behind me and as a buisness we face the future with entusiasmo por la vida. Gracias ATH
@@AaronTerenceHughes Thanks so much for the detailed reply, that CO2 vetiver really makes the difference, I find it smoother, even slightly creamy and a tiny bit sweet. Will there be 100ml bottles soon or only next year?
Hello Aaron! I've tasted all of these perfumes and what I like the most is Terre d'Hermès Eau intense vetiver. Neverthless, until now, I don't find a fragrance that puts the vetiver in the middle of the fragrance like Encre Noire. On the other hand I want to encourage you to taste Vetiver from Daniel Josier. See you soon!
Mugler Cologne is one of my favorite fragrances. Where did you manage to purchase that bottle @1:14, Aaron? It is sadly discontinued, at least in Germany nowhere to be found.
Hi Aaron, if you want to try a very different Vetiver, check out Vetiver Royal Bourbon by Oriza L. Legrand. It is really really spicy and niche and bold and would be great to see compared to all the other fragrances. Thanks a lot for your work!
I really wish Incident Diplomatique by Jovoy was included! It’s an amazing vibrant and robust vetiver that has gotten me tons of compliments! Jovoy is also a underrated house that I think makes true art! You’d definitely appreciate a few fragrances from them!
The whole Terre d'Hermes line is just masterful. Shame the original EDT has copped a few reformulations of late, but it's still incredible. The Parfum concentration though... that's my absolute jam. EDIT: agree with a couple of other comments that the OG Grey Vetiver is another Vetiver gem that everyone should smell at least once.
