- Neil performs an acoustic version of Don't Dream It's Over at the Sydney Opera House, as part of a memorial service for Jorn Utzon, the building's architect, on March 24th 2009. This is from the SOH webcast.
Written as a young man in 1980 while in his early 20's and played 35 years later as a much wiser older man with much more meaning... Neil Finn has written a song for our lives...
this guy is a phenomenal talent, no celebrity bullshit, just writes, records and plays fantastic music.
If you can write a song this great in your songwriting career. Then your work is done.
Neil Finn, a poet, a musician, a beautiful voice....
Thank you, New Zealand, for such a beautiful voice and great artist.
Neil, tim, ....when Eddie agrees its all good....
For him to have & keep a his own cool look, waging rife strife against merciless tides of Time, & STILL retain his vocal clarity, with a voice that is wholesome and harmonic despite the years . . . . WHAT A MAN. Lots of males in today's world... but a Man requires strength of identity, purpose, & an iron sense of Self. Neil Finn had / has it. BRAVO. He is undiminished. He shall prevail.
Neil Finn is up there with McCartney when it comes to song writing. The man writes lyrics that will be sung long after we're all dust. Future generations have a lot to look forward to. Lucky us Lucky them.
"Now I'm walking again, to the beat of a drum....and it's counting the steps to the door of your heart" ALL time best lyric....
The Man, The Music, The Guitar,.....utter brilliance...One of the best song writers to grace this planet, if not the Best :)
Nothing less than beautiful.

Neil still has an amazing voice! Best song ever
I'm so glad I searched this out tonight. What a superior performer and songwriter. His guitar playing is magnificent. Crowded House and Neil Finn remain my all time favorite.

I don't know what it is, but he have it. Even this 80s tune still sound fresh. No many bands or artists can achieve it.

I can't stop watching and listening! Did anyone notice he fingerpicked the organ solo?
Siento tu Amor , Odio tu dolor oh Neil. Se feliz
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
he is natural born singer
Crowded House one of the best groups... no doubt
what a timing
Sólo pido a Dios que tu dolor desaparezca te Amo
Can the uploader please re upload this in modern quality like at least 480p. I'm getting 144p. There must be a better quality version of this.
Not much to say, just listen to his magic!
THE greatest Kiwi...
i just did a svid cover of this song in this live style, who in the hell pressed the dislike button?
Oops sorry. He appears to have dropped the capo one fret. Key rhis time probably Dmaj. High note A.
that was perfection, is this available on cd or dvd?
Ebmaj. Nice key. High note Bb.
Unfortunately the age takes him =/, but he's still great =D
Ma Man Neil dropped this song to C -Am-F-E7 and with capo on 2nd fret so you amateur guys can learn and play easier. Just OPEN CHORDS.
well that is what his publicist reckon anyway.
Anyway, if you want to check him cover Billie Jean, click on my name. Neil's a legend.
This is a pretty good version but no one does it better than Kid Rock! It's probably like his third best song, after the classics "Bawitdaba (a Bang a Dang Diggy Up Jump the Boogie)" and "Born Free."
But you have to give props to the original writer of the song - he wrote it, and Kid Rock took it to its true potential. That's what's so amazing about Kid Rock.
He get's better with age
McCartney was carried by Lennon and Harrison. He doesn't have a patch on Finn.
This is an awesome video, but really, why do people insist on speaking utter nonsense before stuff like this? "It was indeed a Crowded House that night". Suuuuck!
Wtf are you talking about? He's obviously playing the song in major key because...um, it was written in a major key to begin with? You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about so please stay out of this in the future....
