Thanks for these tips Randy and I will respond in kind. To hold your mill down on the bench try threaded inserts, these are sold at woodworking stores and can find them in hardware stores if they carry them, that way you can install the inserts bolt it down to use and remove when the need arises! Hope that helps! These would be installed in your bench.
oh so interesting. I see at 6:11 you are using a very cheap rolling mill. I've been advised never to get one of these and only get a Durston or a Pepetools one for 500-600 bucks. How long have you had this one? Does it hold up ok? Someone told me you can't put metal plates through it only paper/cloth stuff, is this true? I had ordered a Pepetools from Amazon and just canceled it. It was a little over $500 and I wanted to make my money stretch. I think I'd rather have one of these cheaper ones because I want to press laser cut paper designs and cut my own out of 140 lb. watercolor paper. It seems to work just fine for you. Did you have to fiddle with it a lot?
So, I have not used it with any kind of steel pattern plates but I have used other thing with success. I got this back in 2014 and I have used it a lot. My only complaint with it is that you have to change out the rollers to go from flat to wire but once you have done it one or two times it's really not that bad. I do want to know if I could you a metal pattern with it, I will have to get my hands on one and just try it. If I do I will make a video about it. 😁👍

You can also buy texturing plates for your rolling mills from Roberta Pihl. She has some gorgeous patterns that she makes.
I have seen those and would love to work with them. If I can get my hands on some I would make a video showing them to everyone 😁
