    Many people often praise the warriors who are said to have engaged in known battles, but often forget the ones who preceded them, and lay the foundations for their legacy.
    It was quite interesting to learn about one of those whose names are often regarded as just a footnote, and almost lost to time....

As a Dane, and a descendant of King Sweyn, it was interesting to learn that he was not the descendant of King Harald but his half brother Cnut Danaást. I had never heard of him before. Not trying to nit-pick or anything really just making a simple point. Many Christian Norsemen were absolutely still Vikings. Vikings were raiders first, Christian second. They still raided or went 'Viking' (viking meaning the act of raiding, Vikingr meaning a single raiding warrior, Vikingar for multiple warriors) to gain wealth and glory, didn't matter if it was Christian territory or not. If you put a Pagan Viking next to a Christian one, I doubt anyone would really be able to tell them apart.

    • @Son-of-Tyr
      @Son-of-Tyr Рік тому +2

      @@mrhumble2937 Nah. The only reason Cnut or his father were (nominally) Christian was for political reasons, the English commoners and especially the English nobility were at least partially aware of that fact. A lot of the time they still followed the old gods and had to participate in pagan rites or their own people would take them out. Look up the story of Blot-Sweyn.
