Originally from Louisville, been in Texas 30 years. I went back to live a couple of years, didn't get a chance to explore due to health issues had to go back to south Texas weather warmer due to my paralysis, but I gotta say it looks impressive, clean, not a lot of people out. If Louisville grows it's Metro population by a few hundred thousand in years to come it's going to be an awesome city with no limits. A few more big companies move in to help bring in a Professional Sports franchise will help.

R2d2 building used to be called the aegon building I believe and the colors of the top are changes during thanksgiving through Christmas from white to a combination of red and green. And that huge Humana building the large square pink one is called the Humana tower built in 1985, and the huge one now called the waterside building. used to be called the belknap hardware building. Closed in 1985. Built in 1840. That building was the principal supplier for the region south of the mason dixon line. Supplied anything from hammers to guns and even bikes and bells, padlocks and lawnmowers. I believe it was 1993 that MTV and Warner brothers made plans to televise the implosion of the building. This was during the time Sylvester Stallone , Wesley snipes and Sandra bullock were in a movie called demolition man coming out. It was originally a 9 floor warehouse. And if I’m not mistaken there were a system of underground tunnels to connect the buildings somehow. At the time back in the day you could see the bell lap neon sign from miles away. Back then they had catalogs with I believe 4000 pages and over 110,000 different products by the 1050’s. Known as belknap inc after 1968 or so. It’s downfall was around the 1980’s. Sold to David jones of Humana in 1984 for 35 million. The company declared bankrupt in 1985. YoU can see the implosion photos courtesy of SteveBillieJene/flickr. You can probably watch the implosion on UA-cam. Some of the buildings were spared as cherished landmarks others were demo,I shed. I remember the huge banned with MTV logo and the words countdown to demolition sprawled across it. I live here in Louisville all my life. I love this city and love the memories of all the changes through the years. I wish now looking back that I had taken more photos. But then termed does a good job of supplying those these days. Love your video. I just love driving all around this city it is so interesting and full of stuff to do even when it is not derby time. ❤

Louisville KY is a walking museum if you're interested in architecture and educated on the subject. The largest selection of Victorian homes. The second largest Iron front buildings. The last Mei's Vander ro built building. One of the largest buildings designed by Michael Graves, the Human building. I could go farther because my Degree is in Art and Architecture design.

Yes I would love to have a group of people who are interested in architecture and do a walk and drive thru Louisville. I am sure it would be awesome to see all those buildings and hear the history and see all those aforementioned Victorian home, etc.

Honestly I try not to show people who are struggling - whether that’s with mental illness or drug abuse or homelessness. I don’t want to make money off of that and I hope they get the support they need from the community.

@@ThePerfectWalk Someone not familiar with downtown could make one wrong turn and be shocked at what is down here just a block away vs what you show on this video. Next time you are down here try Los Aztecos at Jackson and Markiet. They have great Mexican food. You walked past it in the video.

@@jackhannayjr9008A majority of the homeless in Louisville live downtown. You will see them all over downtown, but most sleep and hangout from Broadway to Main close to I-65. Several shelters and most of the soup kitchens are downtown. That's why most of them live in the downtown area.

Howcome you didn't do 4th street live, or go inside of the oldest restaurant in America I'm talking about the famous Louisville seelbach Hotel it has a restaurant in the bottom all of the furniture was made in Germany. KFC was found in Louisville it was found in Corbin Ky. And you needed to show the Bell Of Louisville. 🚢 And the Brown Hotel is the most haunted hotel in Louisville. And don't forget the famous Water tower. And dont forget the Louisville Bats professional baseball team is downtown also. Also Louisville has had lot's of Top Chef apparel on the tv reality show,
👌 and Louisville has a Bobbie Flav restaurant. And Louisville has a famous candy store that's been around for years and years. And Louisville is home to some of the oldest homes in America still standing and it has lot's of ghastly old ghost stories. Its a awesome place to visit in the Fall especially around Halloween 🎃 🏤 the Waverly sanatorium and the Louisville Zoo. Don't forget about the Bourbon trial and the famous Churchill downs with the magnificent Twin Towers. And don't forget about the 3rd street bridge. 🌉🌁
What's not to love about the great state of Ky.❤❤❤I bleed red for the University of Louisville the Card's all the way 🏀🏈⚾️⚽️🖖❤🖖
