I’ve had mine for almost three years. It’s an awesome winter knife. It’s especially good at batoning with the thick spine, convex grind and low blade height. It’s also surprisingly good at chopping considering it doesn’t have the length of a chopper. I personally dig the rough texturing on the scales. It gives excellent grip. I mostly use it with gloves on because I’m in Norway and mainly use this knife in the winter season.
hell of a review, definitely persuaded me to get this knife. Also love the message at the end, my dad's active duty and been in 19 years and it means a lot to me to know that he and others are supported.
Reminds me of the Cold Steel SRK for sure! But that locking system is a great addition to the sheath! This looks like a very well rounded set up for sure! Thanks so much for sharing this one Mr.Scab with a huge thank you to Mr.JR! Looking forward to seeing you review the rest of the other ones he sent! Cheers, Kimmers and Jerbs #BEUP #DSKFS #neverquitquitting #22ADay #22ADaynomore 👍🏻🇺🇸🔥🔪🔥🇨🇦👍🏻
Very Spartan Blades looking blade...that Sheath is so dam sleek, Great looking knife, you know I'm into fit n finish and that is sweet...looks like their claims on that knife are spot on...great job, you covered it all
I’ve been following reviews of this knife for a while. Many seem to dislike the sheath because it ain’t kydex and lacks latching holes, but I think that locking lever is a nice touch. No obvious way to attach a ferro rod, however.
I haven't used the knife to know if it's rough on your hands but with 40 years in construction my hands are pretty callused anyway. I have a hard time working with my hands and having gloves on even when it's cold which I hate working in cold but unfortunately, the work has to get done. Great review I think you pretty much-covered everything with that thick monster.
You sir have the best taste in knives! I know Mr.Scab appreciate you sharing your collection but want you to know I very much appreciate as well probably 95% of everyone else in this community too! 👍🏻🇨🇦🔥🔪🔥🇺🇸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Honestly brother my hands are pretty roughed up so it's hard for me to give an honest opinion that most would line up with. You and I are a lot of light It really doesn't bother me I can see where somebody might feel like it eat some up after a lot of chopping or something but honestly I didn't feel a whole lot It gives you really good grip and that's about it
Thanks, Jerbs I just love knives and like sharing them, and who better to give us a look at them than Scab we know he is going to give everyone a good view of what the knives are capable of, and every once in awhile I love to slip him a curveball to see what he comes up with. I just mailed him a know box and trust there is no curveball in it he will know exactly what to do with it lol.@@BCJerbs
Awesome knife Scab . I own its little brother (standard A1). And also the NL2 Odin. My A1 is laminated G10, 5mm thick. The A1X has better steel I think with the laminated cobalt and 7MM thick blade. Also it has true full tang. So indeed this knife is a solid workhorse survival knife. It chopped really good and looked very sharp. That is a knife to be proud of. The locking mechanism on the sheath is a great sheath improvement too. BTW I just got two new leather sheaths for my Fallknivens. When I am working around the property the A1 goes on my belt. When hunting the Odin goes on my belt. Hope you week is going great Brother 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Do you think the uncoated version loses much relative to the model you tested, or may it have an advantage in some respects for the lack of the coating? I am wondering about what sharpening might do the coating over time (or if the coating might in fact make sharpening more difficult)…
I personally prefer the uncoated blade. Now I don't know how much affect it has because with today's technology it's put on so thin that I'm not sure it would harm the sharpening. I do know extended use over time is going to wear down just about any coating. But for me I prefer the uncoated just easier to maintain
@@junglejay77 My friend I try to respond as much as I can! I am very very appreciative if you checking the channel out and supporting with comments, man, thank you
I seen a video made by Joe X. Showing the a1x is very weak and laminated steel splits apart very quick. Do you think if used on woodmots durable aftet a while using it?

Srk came after the A1 design.
My F1 has lasted 20years now and still going strong.
Best knife I ever had!
Nicely done sir!!

@@junglejay77 The locking mechanism on this is genius. I believe a ferro rod could probably be held in place by a ranger band just for a quick fix
