- James Brindley first had a vision for a Lichfield Canal back in 1758. This video looks at that, the 21st century vision for the Lichfield Canal and the progress made by LHCRT volunteers towards achieving it.
(Minor update for Autumn 2019 after LHCRT received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.)

How heart warming to see the dedication of volunteers to preserve and promote the heritage that was handed down to this nation.
Well done to all of you.
Came over from Cruising the Cut. Fantastic effort!
Thank you!
Me too.
Same here. Cruising the Cut got me interested in the canal restoration videos.. I am from Missouri USA!
I'm from the Midlands I'm really excited to see this, makes a change from housebuilding,Why isn't it on the T.V ? I'd rather watch this than Megan Markel spouting off .
@Aron Zayd Spamming every bloody comment section...
This is beautiful. From Bakersfield California USA.
Thank you.
Can't wait to come cruise this stretch
Luv you guys.
What a change in attitude of local and national government since I was involved in restoration in the 60,s and 70,s.
Wow.
Fantastic .....we need a follow up
Is this for widebeams or just narrow boats?
We won't be able to take widebeams Widebeams wouldn't be able to get to us anyway, as the connecting canals are too narrow. 🙁
IMO....they would be smart if they stocked the waterways with fish to attract fishermen that would add greatly to public acceptance and support
That's the plan. 👍

I can't believe how hard people are working on this, what a pity the Government don't like young offenders to earn their keep like other countries do , it would install some pride in them and get this canel built quicker,
Prisoners were used in opening of Southern Stratford and Avon in 6o,s and 70,s.
