Oooo thats a good point- definitely should have sterilized the blade. Not sure if hitting the sawdust specifically was an issue, but we should have sterilized the blade first!
totaly different but also interesting lets see what happens the second time ,because the wise guy learn from the mistakes of others,stay strong and bring more

I got a kit from amazon a year ago and it grew great and was able to get 3 harvests from it. I also had growth from the filter straight out of the box, but the underside was white. When I saw the brown stuff in your filter, I got a bit concerned. Maybe your packaging was bad?
Also, best to cut the plastic where you see the most mycelium growth.
