it feels like “we dont want you to knock an album off your contract but we need an album’s worth of music” respectfully. an album w 38 songs doesnt sit well with my spirit but if you view it as a standalone, i think it’s a pretty decent project
Megan Act II is the same structure- new songs at the front, an albums worth but a part two. I like seeing the ways artists are experimenting with new release strategies and new iteration as of old strategies.
I love the new songs. I don't think there's any skips for me. I'm rebuilding my music collection & I copped the physicals for both the original album & this new Lana version.
I like the Deluxe and it get better with each listen. There were definitely songs that o wasn’t a fan of that has grown on me. Can’t wait to see Kendrick and Sza live
I agree. I think people get too caught up in whether something is a deluxe or a new album or an EP or whatever. Unless you are an association trying to establish rules around pay outs or awards then it doesn't matter. It's new dope music, just enjoy. I do think SZA and Kendrick are setting up to own 2025.
To me Lana is a completely new album, cause of the interview you mentioned she herself basically said it was a new album. I get why she did what she did but nahhh it's just a new album lol
To me LANA as a deluxe makes sense if she is talking about the same events and experiences from SOS but now she’s gone through the healing process, more honest, and learning to move forward. It’s a great project
I’d say this is a whole new album. It’s got just about enough songs to be considered a full length separate project. And it’s been 2 yrs since SOS dropped why wait that long to drop the deluxe?
Is it possible Kendrick is gonna do what SZA just did? We all keep wondering if Kendrick is gonna drop a deluxe of GNX or a whole new album (or both)... maybe he'll do like she did and drop a "deluxe" that's basically a Part 2 to GNX. Or am i trippin?
@@adamcastaneda4799 My favorite part of the beef outside of the music and destruction of Drake - it proved to me that Kendrick will always be TDE. And now he and SZA touring together. Seemed odd, SZA releasing a "deluxe" edition with it's own title 2 yrs later, with enough tracks to be it's own album.
This is the perfect comment section to ask a question that’s hard to google… When an artist puts out a project, that doesn’t count towards their deal, does that mean that they get to keep all the money? I was wondering this when 3K was saying his flute album didn’t count.
from the knowledge i have, they would probably still have to recoup the costs of the project before seeing money from it the same way it would work if the album did count for a deal. but it rly depends on the artist/deal/album
The only reason people dont want to call it a deluxe are because she named it something else, even though its on top of SOS. I dont see a problem with her naming it something different from SOS: Deluxe.
The truth is it’s a standalone new album but SZA is highly allergic to criticisms. So she’s milking SOS major critical/commercial success by grafting this new album to it so critics and people won’t pick it apart and take it seriously to critique it. I don’t like that because a ~40 tracks album is disgustingly nasty. Which is sad because the new album is rather good.
I love the album , but honestly hearing 30 for 30 on a similar beat as trippie redd pray for us I was kinda underwhelmed, I’m thinking like damn back in the no ceilings days lil Wayne would’ve schorched trippie I feel like Kendrick and sza did not go as hard as trippie either the same beat overall tho good song good project
That's a R & B sample Switch I Call Your Name with sprinkles of Throw Some D's on it Trippie shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath..you gotta be young
@@michellemybell5608ik it’s throw some d’s on it but who tf cares about rich boy , with all due respect trippie imo has the best version of a song on that beat , if that makes me a young bull or immature cool 🤷🏾♂️

@ that record has hit potential. Don’t forget what Richboy & Polo did with that sample , classic in the south !

7:50 and Sza and Doechi has at least one song together! I wanna see Doechi at the SB and on the tour toooooo!!!!
You're the are definitely gearing up for a great tour.I can not wait to see them both live 2025
Yeah it’s gonna be good

It might as well be a new album
lol word
If the 15 songs were a standalone project dubbed an album it wouldn't live up to her standard. At best it's a decent mixtape on top of a fire album.
@@TonyPestoI had a similar feeling about GNX.

Rob you a funny guy bro. You know brothers came through for drama and you elegantly glossed over it. 😂😂😂 I ain’t mad at’cha. But I noticed fam.
I’m just not the drama guy lol
🔥 video Rob. U sleeping on the chill baby track on Lana lol. This deluxe was great, the drop n timing for rollout. Peace bro ✌🏿

Mac Miller Vinyl next to Ice Spice - Robbbb 😂😂
Plaques. Mac gifted me that for helping him work that single. And my team partnered with Ice and put out munch.
I can see her doing a full Rock album one time or two
It seems like these deluxe albums have become the new B-side albums now. Only thing different now is the rollout.
Rob 👏.
To me, the difference between an E.P and an album is, is the record a collection of songs or does the record have a cohesion to it. A throughline.

I don’t know. I think GNX is perfect the way it is. And it just came out, SOS dropped a couple of years ago at this point.
It is possible. Hard to say. SZA and kendrick are on different labels so the way the do things might be very different despite how close they are
@@RobMarkman Couldn't agree more about GNX! 🔥 That's all I need... hearing constant theories about a second album does get me wondering tho lol

I’m not mad at her for playing the game. Some artists take it too far, but I’m cool with this one.
I on't care but I'm here checking in Rob 😉😅

The Kendrick song was trash. Are y’all still bumping GNX? It seems like it’s official that that album was another dud.
I'm still bumping GNX. It'll hit 1 billion streams by the end of this week, so I can't be the only one.
