  • Unlike other mosquitoes that feed off of one type of host, Asian Tiger mosquitoes will take blood from just about anything that has blood- birds, cats, dogs, horses, cows and of course, people. It ain’t picky, and we all end up paying the price.
The Asian Tiger mosquito reproduces fast and furious. From egg to blood sucking adult take less than a week, and a female can lay multiple generations of mosquitoes per season. And not only that, but unlike other mosquitoes that need a full belly in order to lay their eggs, give an Asian Tiger mosquito a mere nip off the old blood stream and she can lay the next generation of blood suckers.

They're aggressive too. If you swat at one it will attack you with even more ferocity.

But there is one thing that i like about this mosquito: They are very easy to catch. I see one on my leg or arm. I slowly reach out with my other arm and slap. 90% success.
Other types of mosquitos sense when my arm is hovering above them and fly away. This mosquito, in regard as to sensing an approaching danger, is very clumsy.
It really surprises me that i read in all sorts of literature about how quick and agile they are. That is not true. They are very clumsy and easy to catch.

Some dingus 2 doors down planted crappy imported bamboo all over and now those things have taken over all the outdoor space. The only thing that really seems to keep them off is rubbing crushed up catnip leaves on your skin. I planted a massive bush of the stuff just for that reason. It has nice flowers too though.

I got MRSA from 20 bites ugh
I live in a condo complex and they have AT&T PacBell vaults communication vaults, and they fill up with water from sprinklers, rain, etc. there’s nothing you can do except for treat it. The only thing that I found that works is cheap liquid soap poured in the holes you need to dilute it a little bit or it takes forever to get it through the little hole. You need a little funnel and you just poured and what it does it stays on the water surface so mosquitoes cannot come or go. I use the same soap on my plants to kill bugs so it’s not bad for the environment. Everybody needs to do this where there is problem drains or communication vaults to get rid of these in your area
