I dont understand why John Legend doesn't get more recognition... his voice is amazing & all the live performances ive seen are just fantastic. In my opinion, his live performances are better than most.. voice wise. Barely any cracks in his voice & hes rarely off key.
This is phenomenal. It's SO rare nowadays that an artist sound the same or even better than they do on their recording when they sing live. He just did that.

He does sound good live. At least he doesn't sound fake like most singers do when they're singing live because they don't have those machines to make their voice sound better.

Something that is often overlooked is his ability to play the piano so cleanly. He really doesn't even look at the piano the whole video long, he just has the true feel for his piano. Plus this dude can sing. Plus writes a lot.

Not exactly. He takes a lot more breaths in this, and he hits the high notes in the bridge with his falsetto. Although it would be nice to see if he can do those notes live in his chest voice, I'm not gonna complain. This was in general a more delicate approach to the song and it worked. Still, he's a whole hell of a lot better than most pop musicians when they perform live.
Matthew Skelly He can. He does often. For him, it's more of a stylistic choice during the performance. This time, he felt it better to go falsetto than to go with the full.
Which is why I said it worked. Good to know he recorded what he actually can do though. The phrasing (breathing) was a little off, but it's live tv and I'm fussy about that because I'm a music kid and a perfectionist xD
Five years late but I'll type out this comment for those who have that someone they don't truly realize. She would come to my door day after day. She would never give up on me even though I was so numb to it all. I never even gave her a chance yet, at the time, I was happy to be in a fantasy world. I wouldn't snap out of that fantasy world until it was far too late. Never did I get the chance to tell her how I feel and what I thought of her. Great song. Anybody who writes their own stuff (as I and thousands of others do try to do) will tell you that these lyrics and music are like a hand in glove. Legend sings it beautifully with real feeling. He nailed it! It's hard to think how anybody looks down their snouts at this work of art. Unless of course they are besotted by clap trap screeching! Bill Elliott from the 70's/80's band 'Splinter' signed to George Harrison's dark Horse Records said that it was one of the best songs he's ever heard and Bill really IS a great singer!

He does sound good live. At least he doesn't sound fake like most singers do when they're singing live because they don't have those machines to make their voice sound better.

Something that is often overlooked is his ability to play the piano so cleanly. He really doesn't even look at the piano the whole video long, he just has the true feel for his piano. Plus this dude can sing. Plus writes a lot.

Not exactly. He takes a lot more breaths in this, and he hits the high notes in the bridge with his falsetto. Although it would be nice to see if he can do those notes live in his chest voice, I'm not gonna complain. This was in general a more delicate approach to the song and it worked. Still, he's a whole hell of a lot better than most pop musicians when they perform live.
Matthew Skelly He can. He does often. For him, it's more of a stylistic choice during the performance. This time, he felt it better to go falsetto than to go with the full.
Which is why I said it worked. Good to know he recorded what he actually can do though. The phrasing (breathing) was a little off, but it's live tv and I'm fussy about that because I'm a music kid and a perfectionist xD
Five years late but I'll type out this comment for those who have that someone they don't truly realize.
She would come to my door day after day. She would never give up on me even though I was so numb to it all.
I never even gave her a chance yet, at the time, I was happy to be in a fantasy world.
I wouldn't snap out of that fantasy world until it was far too late.
Never did I get the chance to tell her how I feel and what I thought of her.

Great song. Anybody who writes their own stuff (as I and thousands of others do try to do) will tell you that these lyrics and music are like a hand in glove. Legend sings it beautifully with real feeling. He nailed it! It's hard to think how anybody looks down their snouts at this work of art. Unless of course they are besotted by clap trap screeching! Bill Elliott from the 70's/80's band 'Splinter' signed to George Harrison's dark Horse Records said that it was one of the best songs he's ever heard and Bill really IS a great singer!
