      I hope that she is better. Actually I think your daughter should chant it herself to make a change - if she wants to do it only.

    This morning when I was chanting Narasimha Ta Va Da So Hum, I felt my fingernails turn into long sharp claws. The palms of my hands became padded. A long tail grew onto the base of my spine. And, I felt the hat with three peacock feathers perching on my head.

    • @JasonJGallant
      @JasonJGallant  11 років тому +13

      this is the Vishnu principle you are experiencing. Vishnu is the Male aspect of God, that incarnates on this realm. Narasimha was one of his incarnations, along with Rama, Krishna, and several others you may be aware of. The peacock feathers are often associated with Krishna, although they are also seen associated with Subramanya as well.

    Thanks Jason for maintaining this great channel in helping many. I had a question, can I start the 40 day discipline before getting a 108 bead black onyx mala? I couldn't find one locally and so I ordered one online which will take 2 weeks or so. Maybe I can perhaps restart the 40 day counter once I receive the mala to start fresh would be more effective?

    Jason, I have been listening to a few of your videos today, and so am not sure if you mentioned it here or not. But when you mentioned that if you miss a day in a practice of chanting a mantra 108 times twice daily for 40 days, that you must start over on day one again. I am wondering, is all the energy lost from those days that you were consistent, or is it possible to gradually build up energy over a long period of time even while chanting the mantra on an inconsistent basis? Say you practice for 20 days, then stop for several, and start up again, etc.? I guess this question arises from the idea that energy can never be lost.Thanks so much.

    • @JasonJGallant
      @JasonJGallant  10 років тому +9

      Energy is never lost, but if you want to receive a greater benefit where there is a measurable effect, 40 days is a must. It takes that long for your full energetic system to be effected in one whole cycle. Really, it only takes a few minutes to chant a 108 mantras--they can be chanted silently, whispered, or aloud. It's really easy, but most people fall for the trap of the ego that keeps them imprisoned--it's the part of you that is the resistance to anything that will change your ego. It is the ego itself that has resistance to transformation that whispers to you, "don't worry about chanting those mantras, or meditating, you can do it some other time." This is the clever way the ego keeps you from accomplishing the result. There is a reason why these spiritual exercises are called "disciplines." They take as much to accomplish, because it is only through this dedication to truth, can you realize it. :)

    • @margaret2383
      @margaret2383 10 років тому +1

      *****
      Thank you; I really appreciate your perspective. The long mantras, especially, such as the long form of the Gayatri, really test the mettle of my discipline, and my ego finds many good reasons to cut short the twice daily sittings for 40 days. But I'll keep persevering and hopefully realize the answer through my own experience.

    • @JasonJGallant
      @JasonJGallant  10 років тому +9

      What helps is to choose a discipline that you'll stick to. The other thing that helps is to realize that you don't have to "sit" to chant the mantra. You can get your repetitions while you're driving, walking, exercising, cleaning the house, or working. It doesn't matter. As long as you get them in. :)

    • @margaret2383
      @margaret2383 10 років тому +2

      Thank you for your reply and for clearing up a misunderstanding. I thought the correct practice was to chant the mantra morning and evening while sitting in my meditation space and also throughout the day while driving, walking, etc. to keep it close in consciousness as an added benefit. In that case, I think I may be right on the mark! This is encouraging. Thank you again.

    • @JasonJGallant
      @JasonJGallant  10 років тому +3

      Sitting with it is great, but it is not the minimum requirement. Just chanting anytime, anyway, works. :)

      You might find it easier to use a mala to count your repetitions. They have a 108 beads, so you you move through the mala and chant without having to count. A rosary works, too, but those are generally 54 beads, so you’d need to move through it twice to get your 108 repetitions.

    Hi Jason. In this Narashima mantra, since HUM is the last word of the mantra, does it focuses the enregy in the throat chacka? I mean by default where does the energy of the mantra go? And is this destructive for the people that caused this negativity to me?

      Don't worry about any of that. Let it do it's job. Truth is what it leads to and in the end, it's healing for everyone. Sometimes, like any spiritual discipline, there can be some discomfort at first, but it brings overall harmony in the end.
