Thanks guys for sharing! sounds wonderful like the lead work over the chords and the flowing movement, you are teachings your students well! Thanks again guys!
Nice playing to you both. I went to Berklee 81-83 (trumpet performance). At the time, all I heard was jazz. There were no other forms of music being played that I ever heard. It was a wonderful experience.
Tomo, maybe you could knock out some backing tracks for old jazz standards. Just you comping on your Ibanez. Would be lovely to play along to. You play beautifully here.
Thank you! Our amp EQ: treble 9, bass 3, middle 5, presence 5, no reverb! Guitar volume around 6-7 on Les Paul. Because volume setting is same for all students! It’s uncomfortable to play at first! That’s why all my students learn about picking volume and dynamics. They don’t learn by definition by words(very dangerous!)
Hi Mr. Fujita!! Great jam session! I just have one question for you. Do you recommend a lower action for putting less tension in my left hand? Thank you!
Pretty good. Lot s of regearsed 2 5 licks and chained dominants using flat 9s. Very idiomatic, but more spontaneity next time. Also what genre are you aiming for? It sounds bebopy but the comping is sustained shell voicings; no upper register syncopated voicings or 4 on the floor swing era type comping; curious :) thank you
Thank you so much! This was just a drill testing those phrases and try to change much simpler like a vocal approach. I was adding a lot. Normally I only play R 3 7 or even less. This was a part of our lesson so it's not really about a final performance. You're very welcome!
We must talk one day, I sense a bound spirit dying to be released. Creativity is bound and buried by the structure of a once free spirited learning academy. But now I see how academiya has buried and dried up even its masters. BREAK LOOSE! BECOME UN-BOUND! RE-GAIN THE FIRE, THE DRIVE, THE POWER! I will take this to heart also and say it before I play! Your student is lucky to have you as a guitar teacher, Fujita-San!
Thank you so much! I am so grateful that my lesson slots are always fills with passionate students from all over the world!

Thank you so much! So great! Back then... very jazz school!! You are correct! Now it's so different! Great experience!
Wonderful - of course Tomo's comping is divine, the students choices of lines are so beautiful.
Nice!
Thanks! I’m happy to hear that you enjoyed it!
One of my favourite standards!!! Love this !!
Great! Thank you!
This is really lovely. I'd love to see a video on your approach to comping here, the playing is so lovely.
Glad you liked it! Thanks so much! R 3 7 comping!
Father and Son, music is the spirit
❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
That's a great tone combination. I love the les paul fatness and the clarity of the chords on the strat. Very nice thanks for sharing 🙏😁👍
Thank you so much! We use a lot of clean tone with more treble and less bass!
My guitar is the Ibanez AZES31 ($299.99USD) thank you!!
Unusual combination of sounds for straight ahead jazz I agree
@@jfar3340 I am not teaching jazz! Using jazz to improve skills! Thank you!

Good job 👍 🎸
Thanks for listening!
Good job 🎸

Amazing…
Thank you!
Great version. The neck pickup on the LP is surprisingly bright. Not woofy at all. Sounds great.
Almost too bright but maybe its the amp or the room. Dialing back the tone or volume knob would have been more mellow
@@jfar3340 Yes! Very bright! It's a part of lesson! Thank you!
The smile reveals the truth about this jam. Thank you for your comping feedback and his great solo ideas!

Great stuff! Just filmed parts of Joe pass's version after two/three years I haven't played it. I made many mistakes 😞
Thank you! Play it a lot slower! Thank you!
Sounds wonderful! Is the student improvising or remember how the tune goes?
This was for the first time we play this song! We just recorded it!
wow......
Thank you!
Tomo, would it be possible for you to do a video on “You must believe in spring” by Bill Evans? Thanks!

Hi Mr. Fujita!!
Great jam session! I just have one question for you. Do you recommend a lower action for putting less tension in my left hand? Thank you!
Thank you! No. Higher action so that you use less pressure from fingers!
Awesome! Thank guys from Baltimore MD.
Thank you so much! From Boston MA!
I would love to see this guy's right hand and I can't see his name anywhere or any of his social links. Does he have an online presence?
His name is Gunwoo Son. I will ask him.

Best way to describe this. You need to become a fan of own playing!
Some of the best moments in music and life are not captured on video. This playing is not too stiff to be shared. Glad I could listen.
