    Thank you so much! I just completely disassembled mine to clean it, changed the thermal paste, added ram and replaced the ssd for a ssd with more capacity.
    When I assembled it back it wouldn’t turn on, so I removed the ram and put it back in and it solved this issue. I am very happy, it is like a new computer and the temperature is now around 47 degrees Celsius on desktop.

    Just did this and all went well! Thank you so much for the very detailed instructions. It helped a great deal and saved me a lot of money. I replaced the thermal paste and it's a lot cooler now. Put everything back together and it booted like nothing ever happened.

    Thank you so much, the video was very useful. However, for a simple clean is enough to stop at 6:08 . The unscrewed fan comes out nicely. Not necessary to detach all the wires.

    • @LaptopDisassembly

      The cpu cooler is in the other side of the board. The good thermal paste have about 2 years of "live" after that it looses the ability to transfer heat from the cpu to the pipe, and start to harden. If you just clean the fan is about 60% job done. ;) it is a good think to change the thermal paste on both cpu and gpu.

    Thank you so so much. I rarely comment but here i am writing to you.
    Long story short.. my laptop runs csgo on low and still lags..
    So i concluded after investigation it is due to thermals. Was scared and shocked when my friend said this ROG model is hard to disassemble, i listened and dared not touch it.
    It gotten so bad i raged now im here trying to fix it myself. NOW thanks to you sir.. you saved my wallet, my day and my happiness. Runs butter smooth~

      @@evanvincentkarta9938 Hi, it feels like how it used to be and how it should be, 100fps+ at ultra settings. Even all my games like R6, buttery smooth. And this may seem like a buffoon to clean your pc and get more "fps" but yes it miraculously does :) I ain't a pc expert but if you're experiencing illogically low fps compared to your benchmarked fps, cleaning your pc is the solution.

    Thanks for the video. I disassembled all just to find out the cooler wasn't that dirty, just a tiny thin layer of dust (2.5 years old laptop) . I brushed it clean, assembled it all back, and I am happy to check the laptop works! I was afraid I would miss something.

    • @LaptopDisassembly
      @LaptopDisassembly  6 років тому +1

      It was a good idea to change the thermal paste. After more than 2 years it gets dry and loose its ability to transfer heat for the CPU to the cooler.

    • @Privateer1981
      @Privateer1981 6 років тому +1

      I didn't change it, I didn't know I am supposed to. Is it that thing on top of the cpu? (revealed at 9:38) Is it really that important to change it?

    • @LaptopDisassembly
      @LaptopDisassembly  6 років тому +1

      @@Privateer1981 Well the thermal paste is doing most of the work... it Absorb the heat from the CPU and give it to the cooler. If you gonna change it buy arctic MX-2 or MX-4. Don't buy cheap one. Clean the cooler and the CPU with ISO alcohol or similar and apply thin layer of paste. Than reassemble.

    I opened my friend's GL552JX a month a go, and the fact that being a "gaming" laptop it doesn't even have a proper air in-take vent. That fan is blowing almost nothing cool outside, and the temps will hit 80C- ish while other laps hover at 65-70C (mine is a lenovo y50-70, he's old but still pumping)

  • @ForgottenGamesAndMods

    Difficulty is easy to medium, compared to others, even if you have to disassemble completely to get to the cooling system. Did mine at work in about 20 min. New thermal paste, CPU at 75 max instead of 100+.

    • @LaptopDisassembly
      @LaptopDisassembly  4 роки тому +1

      I usually like to use the original ones, if they are in good shape. If nor i replace them with similar size. You can do the following to see the correct thickness. Use a think paper or fold a thinner one. Put it on the chips and tide the screws. If you can move the paper than you need to add a layer. When you find the needed thickness, just compare with the pads. Usually they are 1.0 or 1.5mm Also you can check in the Asus forums.. probably someone will know. But there is nothing better than the original ones.

And the fan just spinning like crazy when im running the test. I try reinstall the windows and completely format the hardisk but its not working
    my question is, why the gpu clock not staying in 950mhz?

      at first the temp was normal(i think its because i turn it off since morning)
      Before test:
      Cpu:54
      Gpu:53
      When i run the test it increased dramatically
      Cpu:90
      Gpu:95(clock speed slowing down to 405mhz)
      After the test(idle)
      Cpu:56
      Gpu stay: 83(clock speed goes back to 950mhz, i think its stay at 83 because the clock speed is high)
      And i tried resetting power option in control panel and nvidia setting, and the clock speed still high, i remembered three days ago i got desperate so i started googling “how to” on the internet and start tweaking things in windows registry to increase the gpu clockspeed because that day the clock is very low, its 405mhz. After tweaking, its sucess! my clock speed increased to 950mhz BUT when i play games the clock speed slowing down to 405 mhz again 🤦‍♂️ and the temp was so high and i got 5-10fps(im not even getting in the game menu). i dont remember what setting that i made in windows registry so i think to reset it i will reinstall windows. And i try overclocking my gpu when its slowing down with msi afterburner but the system is automatically shutdown lol.
      Btw the cpu is intel 7700hq 4 cores
      Gpu is geforce 950m

    Hello Yanko Goshev
    I found your video and it was very helpfull, because I don`t know how to open my laptop. Thanks for this video.
    I've been having problems with this laptop for some time. Have the same model as you.
    - Intel Core i7 4720 HQ CPU
    - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M
    - 8 GB of memory (I do not know which brand or model)
    - 128 GB Micron_M600_MTFDDAV128MBF
    - 1000 GB HGST HTS541010A9E680
    Two years after I bought my laptop, I was in a game and played. Suddenly the screen started to flicker and the whole thing went on in a jerky way. The game was slow and was not playable anymore. It was the same with other games. Rebuilt my laptop a few months ago and reinstalled Windows. Nevertheless, it runs slower than normal. What could it be? I used to play games on maximum graphics. Now I have to be happy with minimal graphics settings, otherwise the games run slower with high graphics or with fewer frames per second. I talked to a few students. They assume that it is the temperature. I will then film my screen and show the power and temperature indicators. I do not know why it's so slow. I'm already at my limits. It can not be viruses or anything like that. Graphics card temperature is in games at 85 ° - 95 °. The processor is at 70 ° during normal operation. So I wanted to change the thermal grease and clean the cooler. Only I have to first see how to clean it.
    Do you possibly know why it could be? Can it really be due to temperature or is it due to insufficient RAM or a defect in the SSD? I already ran some tests for the SSD and nothing came out. State that the SSD is working properly.
    I do not know any people who can tell me exactly where the problem might be. Did you have the same problems as me with this laptop? Or with other things already the same experiences made? I do not know who else I could turn to ask. :-(
    I hope you can tell me a few things
    With grateful greetings and listen again

      First the laptop is not mine, it is on a costumer. I work in a computer repair shop.
      Now about your case.
      The temperatures are high on the cpu in normal use. It should be around 50. I have 2 guesses.
      1. The laptop is overheating and it is throttling. That is why the fps are dropping and it is starting to work slowly.
      2. The hard drive is bad.
      I have 2 qestions
      1. Is the laptop slow all the time, or just when you start to play games.
      2. Are the games installed on the ssd or on the regular disk. How are the smart status of the drives.

      1. must of the time. but not very slow. but in games it run very bad. have to play games on minimal graphic not only in games. and sometimes it have a freeze frame when I open something or start
      2. the games are installed on the hdd

      Make sure you connect the backlid cable. Just reconnect it and make sure it fits good in the connector. First slide the cable in... And after that push it down and lock.
      The hole keyboard not working, or just the backlid.

      2. Did you remove ram sticks.
      3. Is there. a fan spin whee you press the power button.

      On some models the gpu is not with thermal paste, but with thermal pads. They are thicker. If it was with pads, you have to put pads again. If all was with thermal paste, just check how you mount the cooler. All have to make contact with the pipe. When you install all just resit all the memory sticks. Try and tell what is the result.

    • @LaptopDisassembly
      @LaptopDisassembly  6 років тому

      @Marc Pavia the black and white cables are for WiFi... Even without them it should work. No problem if you connected them on reverse. Just check for proper mounting of the cooler, and reinsert the memory. Good luck

    • @LaptopDisassembly
      @LaptopDisassembly  6 років тому

      @Marc Pavia no point of buying HDmi cable. If the problem is the monitor... The laptop will start and you will hear Windows sound or simular. Try to reinsert the memory. Now when you try to turn the laptop on... Is there a fan speed. Also check is the heat pipe make good contact with cpu, and gpu. But my guess is the memory. Normally you can turn it on even without heat pipe. In that case the laptop will show picture, and after a while it will turn off because of overheating. Try he memory like I told you. Also see did you connect the LCD cable correctly.
