I made this music with the main purpose of accompanying an inspiring story and trying to convey hope. I am not one to say that the Ghost of Kyiv (as an individual pilot) is real or not. Perhaps we will find out over time. But for now let's try not to take for granted something that has no proof, nor rule out that there is one or more pilots/soldiers/people leaving everything for freedom and peace where inspiring stories can come from. Let us continue to pray for all those who are suffering. And remember that the first casualty of war is truth.

I would find a nicer way to word this but it's 5 am, basically every footage of ukranian jets now is just " oh is that the ghost of kyiv", i think that's a morale boost, imagine if instead of just a jet, what you see on your side is a legend, an angel protecting you from the skies above

First double ace in perhaps 40-60 years. If he reaches Triple Ace, he would be the first one in 60 years for sure. And only one of TWO Purely Triple Jet Aces.
Personally, I’m of the mind that every Ukrainian pilot is a Ghost of Kyiv. That way they’re all getting credit for their bravery and heroism instead of ascribing it to one person that probably doesn’t exist.

I swear the Ghost of Kyiv just makes me want to become a pilot even more, I respect this pilot, hopefully one day I can fly high like him and become a ace one day
You will never be a Pilot or amount to anything if you do nothing... If you sit around and waste your time nothing will be handed too you. I too had dreams and they never came true, they only remained dreams because I did not act or pursue them. Now I am an internet troll half the time raising 4 children to aspire greater than myself, making sure any dream they pursue I fully support and encourage.

Whether the Ghost of Kyiv is flying out there right now or really just a ghost, his mission is complete if he inspired real Ukrainian pilots to give it their best. And I'd like to think the two probable Su-30 kills by Ukrainian Su-27s are inspired by him too
IIRC at least one of the 3 reported Helicopters shot down (Two definitely confirmed down, both KA-52s) during the initial air assault on Hostomel airport was downed by a Mig-29 as well as one of the IL76's, which was downed by a Su-27
the Ukrainian Air Force are doing damn well for themselves all things considered.

The amount of Ace Combat references this pilot has influenced brings a happy tear to my eye.

This feels like it can go with Ace Combat. Ghost of Kyiv sounds like typical Ace Combat protagonist. Maybe similar thing for Ace Combat universe where protagonist belongs to one of the smaller country that is not directly ally to OSEA that was attacked by Yuktobania.

To everyone arguing that Ghost of Kiev is an urban myth, a Ukrainian propaganda piece:
It doesn't matter. Not in the slightest. As long as people, especially Ukrainians fighting out there right now, belive that he exists, it makes no difference if he's real or not. He puts pride in the hearts of Ukrainians at the frontlines either way, legends like that push people forward and raise morale. And sometimes, just sometimes, legends of mythological heroes make real heroes show themselves.

If we were to consider the Ghost of Kyiv a sort of "Real Life Ace Combat Story", apperently we'd also have another story to Accompany this. A Retired Pilot of the Ukrainian Airforce, Colonel Aleksandr Oksanchenko, joined the fight flying an Su-27 Flanker. According to what I read about him, he unfortunately was killed in action, but still managed to bring down 7 Fighters (pretty sure it would have been in the span of multiple days, but you never know).
Never forget the Grey Wolf. He was awarded with "Hero of Ukraine" military award of highest order.

We add another colonel to the list. Colonel Mykhailo "Did" Matiushenko, the squadron commander of the squad that has been identified as the ghost of kyiv. We lost this great hero in june.

As a Brit, this resonates strongly with us. In the summer of 1940, a bare handful of British, Canadian and Polish fighter pilots held the line against the Nazi air forces. We call them The Few and their spirit lives again in the skies over Kyiv

The Ghost of Kyiv, whether he is really a single man or not, is not just a man, but the very spirit of Ukrainian pilots that gave their lives for their city and their country. Many pilots devoted their lives to their country, whether the Great War, Second World War, the Cold War, they flew for their nation and their people. What we are seeing, ladies and gentlemen, is that spirit. The spirit that promised to fight and die for this land called Ukraine. This spirit is culmination of the fighting spirit of every fighter pilot that flew before, coming back to do it once more. Whether under a red banner, a tricolor, or the glorious gold and blue, they devoted themselves to this land. This is where they grew up, where they found love, and where they died. They promised to continue this fight for their people, should a time ever arise that the people of Ukraine needed them again, and again they answered the call. This is not just a man, but the very soul of Ukraine taking to the skies to challenge those that have dared to harm her and her very people. This is the very soul of all Ukrainian pilots that died before, riding back in on silver wings to do it all over again. May those that dare oppose this very spirit tremble and those that it fights for be inspired, for this spirit shall continue to fly for as long as there is a Ukraine to believe in, and one to believe in it. And to that I proudly say, with all my heart, I believe. And when this war is over, and the glorious blue and gold once again stands tall, although the ghost may disappear, the spirit never dies, and it shall wait yet again to be called upon for one more battle... and to inspire the people once more.
The Ukrainian Air Force has revealed him to be Major Stepan Ivanovych Tarabalka. He was fatally shot down 13 March 2022 with 40 kills. May he never be forgotten.

Some of the footage of this pilot might've been fake, but who's to say whether the reports of six Russian planes being shot down by a lone pilot were accurate or not? Especially since there isn't any confirmed reports saying whether he did or not. If he is real, then he is the hero Ukraine needs right now. And if he isn't, this story is a great morale booster. 🇺🇦

When history sees a great change, an ordinary person will suddenly step up and become legend for generations to come.
One of the things I loved most about history that I thought was being lost, the legends, maybe it was the pause in western history (which is false), maybe it was the information age, which turned every narrative into fact or fake.
Now I was given the opportunity to share time with a legend, distant for me (I am from South America), but so great that it fills my heart and spirit, the legend of the one (or the ones) who in the sky protects a city from the most powerful forces of oppression in the world. No matter if it is one person or the concept of the whole Ukrainian Air Force, they exist, they fight in the sky, they prove to be an example of courage, skill and love for their homeland, the sky of Kyiv is protected by the Ghost of Kyiv.

Never forget that St. Michael the Archangel is Kyiv's patron saint. The fact that as of now the city of Kyiv and north Ukraine have been liberated is proof that he watches over this city and its people.
I just love it. The suddenes that this gotten released, even if it is a myth. This is just a piece of art that makes you feel good, and gives power for those without hope!

Lucas Ricciotti, I was moved and found this music piece extremely inspirational. If there was ever a movie about "The Ghost of Kyiv," this should be the opening music to the opening credits scene. I just can imaging that the plot should be pretty much closely related to the Russian movie "The White Tiger" that tells the tale of a Russian tanker who comes back from death to defend his country. Whether truth or myth, "The Ghost of Kyiv" gives inspiration and hope to the People of Ukraine to keep fighting for their Lives and Freedom of themselves and the Nation. Slava Ukraini! Hey man, I also wrote an Ace Combat-esque theme for the Ghost of Kyiv on my channel. Nice to see another composer who was inspired by him! I took more of an Ace Combat 4 vibe with mine. Let me know what you think! I like the uplifting way you portrayed him-I went for more of a mission feel :).
That bit at 1:26 sounded like it was honestly straight out of an ace combat game.

The Ghost of Kiev has been confirmed to be KIA, shot down March 13th after battling an overwhelming number of enemy aircraft. Since the beginning of the war, he shot down 40 enemy aircraft and inspired countless people. He’s been awarded the top metals for Heroics in Combat, the Order of the Golden Star and has been named Hero of Ukraine. He leaves behind a wife and an 8 year old son

Myth or Not, there is one amazing feat within the Ukrainian AIr Force: that is the fact that they've managed to stay in the air and contest the sky for six days and counting. With only 70 fighters against Russia's thousands. That itself is legendary. They are all "Ghost's of Kyiv".

I am now in Lviv, in the west of Ukraine, which has become a rear base for the entire country. Behind the area where I am located is the airport. I constantly hear how Ukrainian fighter jets take off from there. They fly very low (this minimizes their detection), so the hum is very loud. They fly to shoot down Russian planes over Kyiv and other regions. Proud of the Ukrainian army!

With who I may root for, that's not important. Right now is important the fact that I wish he was real, from an aviation enthusiast's point of view, and aircraft engineer, the existance of a pilot like this is a marvel.
